His mother happened to be in charge of the academy at Sunagakure, and though the other children thought so, he was not given any favors. In fact she made his life in the academy a living Hell. But it was all in love…At least that’s what she said. His father on the other hand could care less what happened…In fact it was doubtful that he knew that Kai even existed, his father had been killed on a mission before his wife could tell him that she was pregnant…So Kai grew up without a father, he didn’t let this bother him at all though because his mother was like his father, though she did spoil him sometimes when they were at home.
Without a father the Clan elders thought that he would grow into a rebellious young man and begged his mother to let him join another family. She denied them this and kept her son within her house even after their warnings. Their prediction was soon realized as Kai began to loaf around and disregard his studies more and more, and one night, he vanished without a trace. His mother searched everywhere and still she couldn’t find him. He was found out in the desert by two members of the Search party and was brought back home in need of food and water. After the ordeal Kai’s behavior began to get better…But not completely. After he graduated he was put on one of the teams and seems to be doing well under his Hatake team leader.
