Getting Started

Maggie the traveling witch has come down to southern Asgarnia to celebrate the festivities with her witch friends. That is, until something prevented her from traveling any farther. Stew up some enchantments and help Maggie complete her secret potion in this puzzling quest full of delicious surprises!

To begin this "goulash" Quest, speak to Maggie who can be found west of Legends' Guild in her traveling encampment setup. Maggie explains to you that she has been concocting something special in her cauldron and must finish it by stirring with an enchanted broomstick but her mighty ox, Babe, has fallen ill and she must take care of him! Being the brave adventurer you are, accept your quest to ask Hetty, Betty, and Aggie to help you fully enchant the Broomstick that Maggie gives you.
The Broom Ointment

First, you must speak to Hetty who can be found in Rimmington. Hetty, being the kind witch she is, agrees to help start off the enchantment with some broom ointment. To make this special ointment she will need a live newt, which just so happened to come in a fresh shipment! You will be asked to go down into the delivery room to retrieve a newt for the ointment.

Open and Climb down the ladder just south of Hetty's house, you will be in a rather ordinary storage room.

Talk to Gus the delivery ghoul, who can be found wandering around the room looking very confused and sad. He explains that he has completely mixed up every label on the crates, not one of them is labeled correctly! What he does know for sure though: one of the crates contains newts, another one holds toads, and the remaining crate holds a mix of both newts and toads.

Gus will give you three labels to place when you have figured out what creature is in each crate. To figure this puzzle you must remember that every crate is labeled wrong, and since you are only allowed to choose a sample from one crate you should extract a creature from the incorrectly labeled 'Newt and Toad' mixture. If you extract a newt from the mixture crate, place a newt label on that crate. If you extract a toad from the mixture, put a toad label on that crate. After you have finished labeling the mixture crate, find the incorrectly labeled crate of either the creature you extracted from the mixture crate and put the other single creature label on it (Not the mixture one!). The final crate is obvious, you should put the toad and newt mixture label on it.

Take a newt from the now correctly labeled crate and continue up the ladder back to Hetty’s house. Receive the broom ointment from Hetty and use it on your broomstick to finish the first part of the enchantment.

The 'Spicy' Enchantment

Travel north east to Port Sarim and go to Betty’s Rune Shop which is the north westernmost building. Explain to her that Maggie needs her broom enchanted; Betty says she would be happy to help and explains that she needs her wand for the enchantment. To retrieve Betty’s wand, Open and Climb down the trapdoor in the south east corner of the rune shop.

Once down the ladder speak to Lottie, ask her about retrieving Betty’s wand. Lottie explains that Betty has intricately locked her wand in the chest. The only way to open the chest is to restore order to Betty’s collection of animals. Each creature needs to be placed in its proper cage in order for the chest to open, but there are further complications. First you cannot carry more than one creature at a time. Second, none of the animals can be carried through the door of a chamber that contains another creature in an enclosure. You will be given a Magic slate that can be used to view the order of the creatures at any time.

To begin, move the blackbird out of it’s pen into the Holding Pen. Next you must move the remaining three creatures counter-clockwise into their respective pens. The simplest way of doing this would be:

Place the Blackbird in the Holding pen to the north
Take the Rat out of the Spider pen and move it north into the Raven pen
Remove the Spider from the Reptile pen and move it west into it's normal environment, the Spider pen
Take the Lizard from the Rat pen and move it south into it's proper habitat, the Reptile pen
Remove the Rat from the Blackbird pen and move it east into it's home, the Rat pen
Take the Blackbird back out of the Holding pen and return it south, back to the Raven pen
Everything is now in order, good job!
When done, your slate should look like this:

Go back to the locked chest; you should now be able to open it! After searching the chest for Betty’s wand, go back up the ladder and talk to Betty. She will enchant the broom with her wand, terminating this part of your enchantment.

The Final Enchantment

Now, travel east to Draynor Village and Aggie’s house in order to speak to Aggie. She will gladly help, but explains that space and privacy is needed. She will tell you about a special grove that Witches often use for enchantments and offers to teleport you there if you help her clean it up. Accept, and you will be whisked away to a magical forest area. In the middle of this area is a large magical symbol covered with lines of sand. Aggie explains that for the enchantment to work you are only allowed to sweep away 4 of the 16 lines to leave 4 small triangles of sand.

To sweep away the sand you can either walk onto the line and select the “Sweep” option of your broom, or simply left click the line of sand. There is more than one way of correcting the pattern, but you should sweep away the following lines highlighted in red:

When you have swept away those four lines your character will feel a pizazz sensation through his whole body, even down to his pixelated toes! Talk to Aggie again or teleport out so that you can return to Maggie with the fully enchanted Broomstick.

Pleased, Maggie gives you the honor of stirring the cauldron with the Broomstick. You can stir it by either using the Broomstick with Maggie’s cauldron or selecting the “Stir” option. Maggie will then offer you a taste of the spicy Goulash for your hard work, and to think it was a magical witchly potion!

Congratulations! Quest Complete!

Getting the Items You Need

Before you start this quest it is a good idea to get all the items you require:

A Bronze Medium Helmet can be obtained through the Smithing Skill by smithing 1 bronze bar with a smithing level of 3. You can also buy these from Peska in the Barbarian Village for the price of 24 coins.

An Iron Chainmail can be made from 3 iron bars at level 26 smithing. You can also buy one from Wayne in Falador for the price of 210 coins

Getting Started

Now that you have all the items you need, it's time to go and start the quest. To start the quest, talk to Sir Amik Varze on the 3rd floor of the White Knights' castle in Falador. If you have trouble finding him this is the White Knights' Fortress:

All you then need to do is climb up the western stairs to the third level of the castle:

Sir Amik Varze will send you to 'check on' the Black Knights' Fortress. So grab all your items and maybe some food and head to the Black Knights' Fortress:

Inside the Fortress

First of all wear your iron chain-mail and your bronze helm. Open the 'sturdy door' on the south side of the building. Now that you are inside, there is no further need to impersonate a guard so you may wear your normal armor. 'Push' the wall directly in front of you:

Climb up the ladder, then the ladder you find on the next floor. You should now be on the 3rd floor, however there re some boxes that block your way to the eastern half. There is a ladder heading down slightly to the east of you that you must then climb down. You will arrive in a room that looks like this:

Head up the ladder in the eastern room and you will find yourself on the 3rd floor again, behind the obstructive boxes from earlier. Head down the ladder that is just next to you.

This room is a safe haven. The black knights can not get to you, and you can recharge your prayer. If you are low on life you can wait here until some of it regenerates.

When you have recovered, exit the room by the door to the west. A Black Knight will be very hospitable and greet you with a fierce: "Die intruder!!!" And will attack you no matter what your level. You do not need to kill him, just run past and down the ladder. You will now be on the bottom floor again, run along the corridor and 'listen at grill'.

Your character will crouch down and over-hear the plan to give the Black Knights an invincibility potion... But do not fear, you can ruin everything! All you need is one small cabbage...

Destroying the Potion

Head back to the entrance of the fortress, just follow the guide so far in reverse order if you are worried about losing yourself. The door to the east is the door to the meeting room, try to go in but the guard will stop you:

Tell the guard that you'll go in anyway and run away from the Black Knights and up the ladder to the north.

Walk along this passage, and you will need to push yet another wall:

Inside here, use your cabbage with the hole in the floor.

Warning: Be very careful that you use the cabbage with the hole, because if you do not right-click you will eat it!

The witch will throw a fit.

Now you can leave to go get your reward from Sir Amik Varze. To get out you can back-track to the entrance and walk to Falador, or you can homeport and walk there from Lumbridge.

Cook's Assistant

Start: Begin by speaking with the Cook in Lumbridge Castle.
Skills None!
Quests: None!
What You Need: 1 Bucket and a Pot.

Getting Started

To start this quest, go to Lumbridge Castle and speak with the Cook on the first floor. He says that he's forgotten some of the ingredients for the cake that he was going to bake for the King. Tell him that you'll help him out, and he says that he needs some milk, an egg, and some flour.

So, leave the castle and head north along the road until you reach the General Store. Buy a bucket for 2gp, and a pot for 1gp. Now we can get all of the ingredients for the cake! Here's a map of the useful places used during this quest:

Milk

After buying a bucket and pot, just walk over the bridge to the east, continuing to the Cow Pen. Once inside, use the empty bucket with a Dairy Cow to get some fresh Milk.

Eggs

Leave the Cow Pen and walk north along the road until you come to a small Chicken Farm. Now go inside and head to the northwest corner to find an egg respawn. Pick an egg up and leave the farm.

Flour

Travel south along the road from the Chicken Farm, back over the bridge and past the General Store. Walk west along the road until you come across a Wheat Field. Pick a piece of wheat, leave the field and travel a short distance north to the windmill. Climb to the top of the mill, use the grain with the Hopper, and then operate the controls next to the Hopper. Now climb all the way down the ladder, and empty the Flour Bin by clicking on it.

Finishing the Quest

Now that you've got all of the ingredients, head back to the cook by traveling east on the road until you reach the castle. Talk to him again, give him the milk, egg and flour, and you're finished!

Rewards

300 Cooking experience
500gp
20 noted Sardines
You can now cook on the Lumbridge Castle stove. This stove is known to burn less food than an ordinary stove, and because of the Lumbridge Castle Bank being located upstairs, makes this one of the best place to cook food in RuneScape!

Demon slayer

Start: Begin by speaking to the Gypsy in Varrock.
Skills: Able to defeat a level 27 demon.
Quests: None!
What You Need: A Bucket of Water, 25 Bones and 1gp.

Getting Started

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

First off, visit the Gypsy in the city of Varrock.

She can be found in the tent next to the Clothing Shop (red circle on the map), and when you talk to her she wants to read your future, but you need to "cross [her] palm with silver". In other words, just give her 1 gp. You can then choose any of the three options. Then ask her who Delrith is, and she talks of an old tale…

Dark wizards gathered in beneath Varrock to summon the Delrith, a vicious monster that they hoped would render Varrock into rubble. Luckily, Wally, the hero, came just in time.

And our (humble) hero managed to defeat the Demon and bind him within the stone Circle that we see now below Varrock.

Ask how you can kill the demon, and she says that you need a Silverlight Sword and an incantation -- be sure to write down the incantation that she gives you (it's different for everyone)! She tells you to talk to Sir Prysin about the sword.

The Keys

Sir Prysin can be found in a small room on the west side of Varrock Castle (blue circle on the map). He tends to wander out of this room, however, so be warned.

At first he is surprised when you mention the Delrith.

After you explain about Gypsy Aris’ premonition, he understands the city’s plight. Unfortunately, he says that he has the Silverlight, but he needs 3 keys to open the box.

He says that Captain Rovin has a key, and tells you where he is.

Captain Rovin's Key

Climb 2 sets of stairs in the northwest corner of the castle to find him, and tell him that it's important that you speak to him. Captain Rovin is at first mistrusting of you.

After a bit of arguing however, he finally gives in and lets you have the key.

Sir Prysin's Key

Sir Prysin also said that he had a key, but dropped it down the kitchen drain.

Go back downstairs and head to the kitchen in the northeast corner of the castle. You will see a drain there.

You see the key, but you can’t reach it. You’re going to have to get it below, but you have to wash it down first.

Use the bucket of water you should have in your inventory with the drain just outside the kitchen door to wash the key into the Varrock Sewer. If you don't have one, you can go up the stairs, and pick up a bucket from either of the rooms, and then fill it with water from the kitchen sink.

The entrance to the sewer is just east of the castle fountain area manhole (yellow circle on the map), so climb down the manhole.

Take the red path to a small room, and the key should be on the ground, surrounded by corpses.

Just click on it and you'll get a rusty Silverlight Key.

Traiborn's Key

The last key is with Wizard Traiborn, located on the second floor of the Wizard Tower, just south of Draynor Village.

Tell him that you need Sir Prysin's key, and then ask him if he has any keys around. He is totally confused.

He finally remembers a key, but he needs 25 bones to perform a ritual to open the box that it's in.

You can kill the wizards in the tower to collect bones, but a quicker way to obtain them would be to kill chickens. There's a farm east of Draynor Village (blue circle on the map).

You can give him the bones gradually. In other words, you don't have to give all 25 bones at once. However, it quicker to do it all at once if you are killing chickens for them. When you give him all the bones, a very short mini-cut scene will ensue where he performs the ritual and a wardrobe will rise from the floor. He will take his Silverlight Key out and give it to you.

Obtaining the Silverlight Sword

Once you have all 3 keys, go back to Sir Prysin. Another very small mini-cut scene will happen as he opens the box and gives the Silverlight to you, and which you then brandish about for a bit.

Hint: If you drop your Silverlight and talk to Sir Prysin, he will give you another sword. This way, you could have an extra in case you lose your sword after the quest, instead of having to buy one for 500gp later on.

Killing the Demon

Once you have all your combat equipment and food ready, head to the Stone Circle just south of Varrock. Once you get within close proximity of the circle, a big cut scene starts. You see three dark wizards and a wizard called Denath.

All the Dark Wizards begin to chant.

They finally summon the supremely evil Demon.

This might be the end for Varrock!

But you arrive just in time!

When you enter the circle, a wizard will start attacking you, so you will have to kill it and go to the Delrith. Or, you can wait until all the Dark Wizards are facing away from you and the Delrith is close to you and then run to him. With your Silverlight equipped, attack the Demon until he is in a weakened state. When he is in this state, pick the right incantation (refer to the incantation you wrote down earlier) and finish off the foul Demon.

Congratulations, quest complete!

Rewards

You get to keep the Silverlight sword - If you ever lose it, you can buy another from Sir Prysin in Varrock Castle for 500gp
3 Quest Points

Doric's Quest

Start: Speak with Doric by following the Northern road leaving Falador.
Skills: None!
Quests: None!
What You Need: 6 Clay, 4 Copper ores and 2 Iron ores.

Getting Started

To start this quest, first speak to Doric, the friendly Dwarf located in a small house North of Falador. Ask him if you can use his anvils, and he says that he will let you use them if you get some things for him. He needs 6 Clay, 4 Copper ores and 2 Iron ores.

Getting the Ores

Each of the required materials that Doric needs can be mined from the Dwarven Mines, a short distance from where this quest begins. If you aren't a high enough level to mine Iron, you can either buy the ores from the Drogo Dwarf's Mining Shop in the mines, or trade them from other players.

The shop is to the east when you first enter the mines, and you can buy iron for around 1gp each. The shop will also sell copper in small amounts, so it's best to mine the ores yourself. Once you've got all of the needed ores, just head back to Doric, give him the ores and you're finished the quest.

Dragon Slayer

Start: Guild Master in Champion's Guild.
Skills: Able to defeat a level 83 Dragon.
Quests: None, but 33 Quest Points is required to enter the Champion's Guild.
What You Need: Wizard's Mind Bomb, Silk, Lobster Pot, Unfired Bowl, 12,000 Coins (or 2,000 Coins if your Magic level is 33 or higher), 3 Planks, 90 Steel Nails and a Hammer.
Quest Obtained Items: Maze key, Anti-dragon shield, the colored keys, 3 map pieces.
Recommended Items: High healing food like Lobsters or better, decent armour and weapon, teleport runes.
Recommended Skills: 35+ in all melee skills, 37 and 43 Prayer are helpful.

Getting Started

To start off, talk to the Champions' Guild Master. Ask for a quest.

He tells you that you must go to Oziach to find out your quest. Oziach lives Northwest of Edgeville's General Store

When you reach Oziach, talk to him. Ask Oziach if he can sell you a Rune Platebody. Then tell him the guild master sent you.

He will become defensive, so tell him you thought he would give you a quest. He will tell you to slay the dragon of Crandor. Respond by saying it sounds like fun.

Now you need to go back to the Guild Master. He'll tell you it might not be as easy a task as first thought. He'll fill you in a little on the dragon's past. You will be presented with a bunch of questions to ask. Ask all of them.

The Map

The Guild Master tells you that the map was split into three pieces. Now ask where each map piece is.

Melzar's Piece

Melzar locked himself up in a castle near Rimmington. Unfortunately, the map piece is with him. Head to Rimmington and enter the maze with the key the Guild Master gave you. If you have lost your key, you can get another from the Guild Master.

Kill the Zombie rats until they drop a red key. The rat which drops the key is smaller than most, and has a longer tail. It respawns towards the north of the room. Use the red key on the northwest-most door to unlock it.

Now go up the ladder to reach some level 19 ghosts. The ghost which drops the key appears to be female and has long, waving, hair. Kill the ghosts until they drop an orange key. Use this key on the second orange door from the north on the eastern wall.

Go up this ladder, too. Kill the level 22 skeletons in this room until they drop a yellow key. The skeleton that drops the key wears a small round buckler, coloured black. It can be difficult to get to this one, because all the rest are very agressive, but it's the only one that drops the key. Use this key on the western-most door on the southern wall to unlock it.

Walk through the "L" shaped room and go down the ladder. Go down the other ladder in the next room, and a third ladder in the room after that. Kill the level 24 zombies to get a blue key. When it is dropped, go through the only blue door there.

Next kill Melzar the Mad. He will drop a magenta key. Go through the magenta door. You're now in the final room. Kill the lesser demon. He will drop a green key. Use the key on the green door and you will be in a room with a chest. Open the chest and you will get a map piece.

Thalzar's Piece

Thalzar hid his map piece in an unknown location. Only the Oracle on Ice Mountain would know where it is. With an unfired bowl, lobster pot, silk and a wizard's mind bomb, go to the Oracle. She can be found here.

Talk to her about the map piece. She will give you a riddle.

The door she talks about is in the Dwarven Mines. To get there, walk South to a building complex. Go down the ladder in the middle of the buildings. Follow the route shown to arrive at a door.

Use each of your items on the door to enter. Search the chest in the middle of the room for the next map piece.

Lozar's Piece

Lozar was recently killed and her map piece taken by goblins. One of the Goblin's in Goblin Village is likely to have it according to the Guild Master. A quick look around Goblin village will reveal that the piece is not in fact there. The goblin who has the piece is now in Port Sarim's jail. His name is Wormbrain and he is in the cell highlighted green in the picture above. There are two ways to get this piece, depending on your magic level.

Without Level 33 Magic

Go to the jail with 10k and talk to Wormbrain. Tell him he has a map piece you need. He will ask what you will do for it. Say you will pay him. Once he names his price of 10k, say ok. You will now have the piece.

With Level 33 Magic

Go to the jail with enough magic attacks to hit 5 damage and an air and law rune. Kill Wormbrain and telegrab the map piece.

Congratulations! You now have all of the map pieces. Use them on each other to form the whole map.

Firebreath Protection

Getting the protection comes in the form of a shield. This one is easy to get. You simply need to go to the Duke of Lumbridge. To get to Lumbridge, cast Home Teleport. From the castle courtyard, go up the stairs on either side of the castle. The Duke is in the room with the quest symbol. Talk to him.

The Duke will fill you in a little on the dragon's past. When he's done, ask for your shield. He will give it to you. In case you die while fighting the dragon later on, get a few extra shields from him.

Finding a Ship

A ship able to make it to Crandor is in Port Sarim. On the docks, talk to Klarense. He is in the area circled below.

Talk to him and he'll talk about a ship. Say you'd like to buy it and he'll ask for 2k. Accept his offer. With three planks and 90 steel nails, go down into the lower part of the ship. Click the hole on the southern side of the ship to repair it. Your ship is now sea worthy.

You also need a captain to take you to Crandor. He is in the circled house in Draynor. Talk to him. Ask if he can take you to Crandor.

You'll tell him to go wait at your ship and he'll go. He will also take your map.

The Flight

Before you go off and fight a dragon, you need some things. For equipment, you need your anti-dragon shield. Otherwise, you can be hit for 40+ damage. Wear the best armour you can, rune or adamant. Also, I suggest wearing an amulet like the Amulet of Power, or the Amulet of Strength. Have the best weapon you can, too. Rune or Adamant scimitars or longswords work best. In your inventory, you can have a strength potion if you want, but it isn't necessary. If you have a high enough magic level to teleport, bring some runes in case you run out of food. Have the rest of your inventory filled with good food. Preferably lobsters or better, but Tuna works well, too.

Go to your ship in Port Sarim and talk to Ned. Tell him you're ready to leave. There will be a cut scene in which the dragon attacks the ship. She will burn the ship up and unfortunately, Cabin Boy Jenkins will die.

When the cut scene finishes, you will be on Crandor. Follow the route shown below to reach the Dragon's lair. If you die during the fight, you can return to Elvarg through a door in the wall of Karamja Volcano. Click on the door to enter, then run North to Elvarg.

You will come upon a wall. Drink your strength potion before climbing over the wall if you have one. Climb over it and the battle will ensue. During the battle, eat when your hit points get low. Her melee and dragonfire attacks can hit up to 10. If you die, getting your stuff back might be hard, because Crandor is so out of the way. She will rely on her firebreath more than her melee. Her firebreath also hits much higher and more frequently than melee. When you kill her, you will automatically cut off her head.

Now go to Oziach and inform him of your victory. To get back to the mainland, you can cast home teleport, or you can walk south from Elvarg's lair to a wall. Click on it to open, and you will now be in Karamja's volcano, go east and climb up the rope. You can then get 30 coins by working on the banana plantation to take the ship to Port Sarim. Then walk to or teleport to Oziach's house. Also, if you lose your dragon head on the way to Oziach, you will still get your reward. Talk to him and...

Congratulations, Quest Complete!
