OK, Raina has not actually been introduced in the story yet. But I figure I might as well get her critiqued now. Be ruthless. Please. But, keep in mind that she's not quite done yet.
Name: Raina Starkey
Age: 16
Appearance: Raina has short, brown hair and very dark brown eyes. Her skin is an olive shade. She is unusually short. She needs glasses, but only sometimes wears them, and refuses to wear contacts.
Personality: Raina is not the most pleasant of people. She is extremely hostile, and gets angry with others when they try to be friendly. She's got a certain kind of "real world" intelligence, but is an underacheiver and does badly in school. That is, when she goes to school, which is a thing she only does on and off, when her parents make her. She's sullen and avoids social contact whenever possible. When it can't be avoided, she makes it perfectly clear that anyone who dares talk to her will be in for something very unpleasant. While she doesn't act angsty or depressed, she's pretty much unhappy pretty much of the time. She limits herself to only verbal abuse, but only because physical violence would get her in trouble, and she'd probably loose a fight with just about anyone anyway. She is perfectly aware of how intensely she is disliked, and could be friendlier if she wanted to, which would probably ultimately make her happier. But for reasons known only somewhere deep in her subconscious, she'd rather be nasty. Her single aim in life appears to be to make others dislike her.
History: Raina was never social or friendly. As a child she was standoffish and aloof. Her home life was relatively normal. However, at age fourteen, she "fell in with the wrong crowd," and it was all downhill from there. She started skipping school, experimenting with a number of illegal activities, and became the sarchastic, astringent, thoroughly nasty person she is today. A year ago (when she was fifteen), she attempted suicide (while she appears to others to just be nasty, she is also, as previously mentioned, entirely unhappy). She was, needless to say, unsuccessful. She was sent to an institution for the rehabilitation of the insane, where she met Eric. They don't really like each other all that much, but somehow end up interacting quite a bit.
Tortures: She mostly just tortures herself. She is aware that she does this, and yet, somehow, doesn't stop. And, while the institution is a perfectly good one, she very much doesn't want to be there.

This is an intersting chartacter. I like how you explain... why she is the way she is. A lot of people wouldn't bother.

Janus: "And she stares. She stares." gonk
*Shoves Janus into a jar.*
Ahem.
Nice profile. 3nodding I like how being a b***h makes her unhappy -- a lot of people forget that negative personality aspects affect the person negatively most of the time, too.

Pretty good, if a little one-demensional.
I'd like to know why she is the way she is a bit more; I'm a psych freak. What started it all? If it was just falling in with the wrong crowd... I'm sorry, but that's a highly social activity. It just doesn't ring true.
