Tanaki was born in the land of Kumogakure, where she decided at a young age that she would work to becomeing the Raikage. Her family was killed while she was still young, her father Nagare Uzumaki, a decedent of the original Uzumaki clan had worked hard to build himself a life in Kumo. Her mother Hana Shitoru's family had always lived in the village, but when she met Nagare they two instantly fell in love. Hana's family did not approve of her being with someone not from their village, weather Nagara's father had lived there or not. But they could do nothing when word spread that she had been pregnat with his child.
One the night Tanaki was born, Hana's father had put a curse on his daughters head, to die for giving birth to an outsiders child. Soon after Tanaki was born, a rouge ninja infiltrated the village and killed both Hana and Nagure. Speculation about Tanaki's grandfather being the cause arose, as the next day the man was no where to be found. But Tanaki grew up none the less, she kept with her an old scroll or her mother and father that someone had saved for her. She worked hard through the acadamy and it was all to achieve her dream. She wanted nothing more than to become the Raikage, and show people her fathers clan meant something. Even if she had never met him, she knew he was a good man, and if she ever met the man who killed her parents, she wouldn't think twice to end his life.
Once she graduated from the academy she set to practicing with her weapon, a scythe of 4 blades. Many thought it was odd, but she had felt drawn to the blade, no knowing it had been made by her own grandfather on her fathers side. She practices everyday to achieve her goal, but for now she tries to be the best Genin she can be.
