------------------------------------------------------------------

WHO: Kael & Kiwi, Daichi & Noctis, Atha & Aurore

WHERE: Noctis' bar

WHEN: Late evening

WEATHER: A light rain; foggy and cold

------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------

Rain pattered the bar's windows outside, picking up speed and volume depending on the direction and strength of the wind which seemed to be changing every few minutes. Many of the patrons were either soaked upon entering or dreading their departure as the downpour seemed to be getting worse as the night went on.

Two such individuals ran, both with hoods up to cover their heads, and burst rather quickly into the door. The one in the red hoody slipped on the puddle they brought with them, taking hold of the door and slamming it back against its hinges with a loud crack. Their companion in black did little to even acknowledge the noise or action, simply walking past and into the bar to take in all of the different scents. Left and right people were eating all sorts of meat; chicken, pork, beef, steaks, lambchops, burgers, anything and everything this place had available.

As the clumsy one righted themselves and carefully shut the door, they pulled their hood down to reveal a messy mop of clearly bleached blonde hair with three discolored streaks of green and brown on one side. They were also revealed to be female but appearing too young both in face and stature to be coming to a bar. She did nothing to apologize for the commotion despite a few stares, instead catching up to her friend and mumbling a quiet "Go check your bandages," before walking off and attempting to peek around the bar for a familiar face or two.

The one in black lowered their hood as well, a softly tanned face with low lidded indigo eyes doing nothing to hide her annoyance at the other's order. Gradient hair spilled out, blue and purple, and if the first girl appeared too young to be at a bar then so did she. Without a word, she tucked a piece of hair behind one ear and pulled her teal ribbon free of the hood then entered the bathroom. It wouldn't matter if her 'friend' could find them or not; she could smell them here and that was enough assurance for her.

"Daichi?!" she attempted to call over the laughter, conversation and music assaulting the calm of the restaurant. Her form paced and darted, circling the bar like a vulture as people ordered and moved, making visibility difficult let alone allowing her voice to carry. "Noctis, are you here?" This was what she got for not calling in advance, she supposed, but what had at first been idle procrastination turned into an emergency and she didn't have time to go surfing through the web or phone books for a bar's name she could barely remember.

A sudden burst through the door had barely been noticed among the quieted murmurings and excited shouting of the bar patrons going about their own jollies and downs. Only those who were able to hear or see the sudden crashing, aside from the sudden burst of wind and the slight amount of precipitation misting in from the outside, would even have noticed the two younger-than-appropriate companions come in.

Aurore, sitting farther from the door than some of the other people, hadn't noticed the two, but a small shift in her purse had put her aware. She couldn't hear the girl behind her yelling for their mutual acquaintance, nor did she notice anything off about the girl that was headed for the bathroom. No, the woman had made sure to keep whatever attention she had to the bar attendants, keeping an eye on those with wandering hands and lusts. Miss Devereux had been invited here by the owner, a mister Noctis Farron, whom she had allowed entry to her own home only days ago.

The purse in question, nestled quietly and held securely in her lap, was the temporary home of Athanase. He had been quiet, despising the sweet and bitter smells of the alcohol around them. His human had offered him a slice of lemon that had come with her iced tea, but the taste of the foul, grassy drink remained soaked into the lemon's texture and rendered it disgusting in his opinion. Aurore had promised to have Noctis or Daichi give him a few fresh ones when she saw them.

The woman kept quiet among the noise of the bar, though it wasn't exactly like she had a choice. With her sketchpad rested between her and the purse, she sipped her tea through a straw as her mask covered her stitched mouth. It had been cleaned, but healing scabs decorated her sore lips as she gently nursed on the drink.

Hopefully Noctis would be out soon. Aurore hoped that he could explain to her the mess that Athanase had made.

It was a busy night-- Of course, that was to be expected since it was supposed to be. The entire staff was on rotation, switching frequently from waiter to bartender or replacing shifts. Noctis was just as busy.. for the moment. Customers filtered in and out from the late hour, a large group standing up to exit.

Hidden behind the crowd was the human contractor both females sought, blocked from view until he approached the counter. If Noctis had known that the contractors and demons had to come to him as some sort of guidance counselor to their problems, he might have never come out. But that wasn't a convenient fact in his collection of knowledge, the black vested and white collared bartender coming in from the room in back, to the side of the bar. His arms held a bundle of bottles and mixers, setting them down on the counter with a grunt.

In all honesty, Noctis probably looked something in between a bartender and a waiter. Coal black eyes made contact with an employee's, as he handed over the bottles to be tucked under the counter. His hair lacked it's usual messy style, instead, it was gelled back. His glasses were still there, lacking contacts, giving him an intellectual look. But that was all he had going. It was then that he noticed.. a familiar occupant? Or ... wait, two familiar occupants?

... He needed to get the inventory done first. Two minutes. Four, top.

Daichi on the other hand ... Well, timing broght him to Kiwi and Aurore first. He came from the exit, evidently having dumped some trash for the night, considering the empty bin that he held in his hands. He was easily recognizable, the jester-like cheek marks still adorning his human form. He looked at them with a surprised expression, glancing towards Noctis. He stood there rather dumbly in the middle of the room, head shifting left .. right.. left.. right.

What a pleasant coincidence.

"Did you come for a meal? The crowd's tinning--- I mean, thinning out. We can serve you some lemondade.." He looked at Aurore and then at Kiwi, ".. and meat."

As the back door opened, green eyes immediately locked on to the black haired young man with the familiar blue eyes and jester eye markings. If she had found more endearing factors about their last meeting (which she thoroughly blamed Noctis for) then she might have grinned at his appearance. Maybe if the circumstances were currently different she would have done so anyway, but instead she offered a blank face and a wave of her hand to force the demon to acknowledge her.

At first he didn't seem to and this frustrated her; she saw his eyes going back and forth between her and something else and she narrowed her own, brow furrowing as she stared Daichi down. Then he began speaking to someone else, a blonde woman in a vibrant wine pink dress. She was about to step over and pull Daichi away from the woman when his eyes locked with her own and the word 'meat' left his lips. Fair enough, he was probably just busy with his job.

The door of the woman's bathroom thudded open as the young woman in the black hoody shoved it with her shoulder and skulked out, hands shoved into the front pockets. She slipped between tables and people, maneuvering easily back to Kiwi's side where the two exchanged a momentary glance before her eyes locked onto Daichi. Vibrant pieces of hair, purple and blue, fell from the hood while her eyes remained shadowed in the dim overhead lighting of the bar. All of the smells were making it difficult for her to detect certain things but Daichi's scent was clear.

So was something sour and acidic which made her nose crinkle curiously.

Dark purple eyes roamed their current surroundings as she scanned the people in the bar. Alongside that smell of citrus and bile was something else, something dark that was more of a feeling than a scent that reminded her of hunger. It was not her own, but similar. Both of these detected senses were drawn from one particular corner of the room and Kael's head tilted curiously toward the blonde woman's back. A wide grin soon formed, her eyes narrowing.

How convenient...

"I need to talk with Noctis," Kiwi announced, leaning over to gently grip one of the demon's sleeves to keep him close so she wouldn't have to shout over the music and noise of conversation. "Remember who he wanted to see?" her eyes didn't leave Daichi's face but her head nodded back in the direction of the hooded girl.

Indeed, she had grown, and the carnivorous monster of a demon was interested in their reactions to her new body but there was also a more pressing matter that would only be brought up once they were in the back room and away from prying eyes or ears.

"Daichi..." she purred coldly, her gaze never leaving the blonde woman, "You met more?" There was no question, that woman also bore a contract and, what was more, it might have been two.

Another shift in Aurore's purse had caused her to look away from her drink, eyes landing on Daichi's familiar face, carried on an unfamiliar form. Of course, it was no surprise that demons would be able to disguise themselves among humans if they so wished, but the woman hadn't expected it. He was actually pretty handsome. A smile was visible from her eyes as she nodded, adjusting the purse's strap as she stood after what she assumed was an invitation.

Once standing, she turned only to see a girl with bright hair only a foot or two in front of her. Naturally, Aurore's first reaction was to jump slightly, startled by the girl's piercing eyes as she stared almost maliciously. A strange hunger rolled over her stomach, Chiet reacting almost happily inside.

Atha, on the other hand, had began to move more and more at the scent of the new demon. His human could only pat the bag gently to try and calm the imp, but no such luck. He wanted out. Now.

The woman gave a nod in greeting to her two new young companions and her formally met; the nod toward Daichi was given as a hint to start moving toward somewhere private. Surely he knew exactly what she meant as she clutched her bag tightly to her side, hoping to keep the wriggling out of any onlooker's attention.

Once the vibrant girl spoke of meeting 'more,' Aurore automatically knew. One of the two, most likely the one staring at her with those eyes, was demonic in nature. It would explain her rapt interest, and just like Athanase, surely she knew of Chiet already.

This was going to be an interesting night.

Aurore removed her bag from its resting place on her shoulder and carefully handed it to Daichi. From the looks of it, Noctis already had visitors; a demon, at that. Maybe she and Atha could talk? She might as well stay in the bar and let the demons work. She could get another chance to talk to Noctis soon.

Daichi tilted his head towards a waiter who looked his way, the waiter's eyes raised very skeptically. It was an uncommon sight, to see two women joining Daichi's side-- Two gorgeous women at that. Perhaps, it was their aura that drew skepticism from the man.. Considering that Daichi's aura lacked in decisiveness in any form, their .. rather powerful presence was unusual of most female customers.

Or rather, females Daichi already knew. Because everyone knew that Daichi treated (human) women, who often made advances during their stay at the bar, with a foreign influence. Noctis claimed it was due to Daichi's childhood at a boy's school .. which seemed to pass off acceptably.

As long as Daichi didn't know the implications of such.

Only when both women, Kiwi and Kael, joined Daichi's side did he make a startling realization. Two women? When had the combination changed from one woman with an imp to two women? His eyes travel down slowly, almost blankly, Kael's voice ringing pleasantly in his ears. The first fully grown demon, other than himself .. Daichi couldn't express his sense of kinship. But it was clear in his stunned black eyes, his hand hesitantly reaching out as if to touch the frame of Kael's face. To reassure himself it was real ... but he seemed to think better of it, his hand withdrawing back as if she might bite.

For all he knew. She could have.

His mouth curved in a smile, noting their locked gazes. Kiwi and Kael. Athanase and Aurore. Surely, Belphegor, must have this encounter written down in his greta book of knowledge somewhere. "Yes. Although it appears, you've already met. I'll make the introductions." Even if Aurore thought otherwise, to let the demons mingle and the contractors talk separately, it appeared that Kiwi had a most urgent manner to discuss. Possibly Kael? One hand pressed against Kiwi's back, lightly and firmly, his other hand gripping Aurore's hand in a similar manner.

"In here." He led them to a nearby back door, the large brown door would be familiar to some and unfamiliar to others. The door creaked open, Daichi ushered in the crowd with slow steps. He paused momentarily behind them, dexterous hands reached out to flip the sign over the door, expressing their need for privacy.

Perhaps, it was just their luck that Noctis was in the backroom, a clipboard in his hand, one pencil marking off the inventory and their supplies. His glasses sat crookedly on his nose, eyes blinking as their door opened and closed.

The amount of footsteps-- more than a just an employee coming to retrieve a drink-- Well, it wouldn't be hard for any idiot to tell who was here. Clipboard in hand, one hand curled under the clipboard to cradle it, and the other hand on his hip, he sighed.

Inventory would have to wait, it seemed.

"You can let Athanase out, Aurore. We're safe in here. Aren't we, Kiwi?" He asked, tipping his cheery expression towards the female who knew this room all too well. Of course, the male would poke fun at Kiwi.

"Your hood can come down, Kael. I look forward to how gorgeous you look.. if that shadowed face of yours is any indication, you grew up well."

Kael's eyes watched the other demon's hand like a hawk, curious of the touch but simultaneously grateful that he refrained. As far as nipping went, only the flesh and blood of humans and animals tantalized her; demons were an exception and she was not so hungry as to resort to cannibalism. Not then and surely not now. Instead, she lowered her lips to hide her teeth but kept a whimsical smile toward her demon companion.

At the very least, it seemed her growth was well received and her pride swelled with his interest. She turned to look at Aurore, head tilted as she scrutinized her at the bag she was holding out toward Daichi but the bartender didn't take it. Instead, he began leading the women toward a familiar door.

This was exactly the welcome Kiwi wanted and had expected, it was only unfortunate that it was so busy out front that it meant Noctis and Daichi might be asked to leave for their work in between their conversations. She nodded gratefully as the teary demon shepherded them into the back room, only marginally surprised to see Noctis already there. Shying away from the demon's guiding touch on her back, she made room for Kael to follow inside as well and then the other woman. She hadn't really caught the sense that Kael had, of her being a contractor, but it seemed obvious now as Noctis joked at her expense.

Aurore was her name, then, and the other name of Athanase made Kael's eyes light with interest.

Let Athanase out.

Athanase was an imp.

Once the door was closed, her attention shifted to Noctis as he addressed her personally. His words flowed with compliments and her sharp smile glowed against her tan skin. Gorgeous, he said, ha. It served its purpose, this body, and allowed for her to reel in unsuspecting humans all the more by how young she appeared. While with Kiwi it was a case of appearing younger than she actually was (looking like a sixteen year old when you were actually twenty-two made some things quite difficult), Kael's new body could have easily passed for a fourteen year old in her human form.

Glancing toward Aurore's bag, then smirking at Daichi, Kael lifted her arms up and tucked the hood back to release her bright hair. Running black nails through it, she shook her head to the side and grinned cunningly at the two bar tenders. "Does it meet expectations?"

Kiwi didn't look terribly amused at Noctis fawning over Kael's appearance, nor her demon feeding into it. There were more important matters to be discussed besides her new appearance and then there was the issue of this woman. She had assumed the meeting would be private but perhaps it was just a case of inconvenient circumstance that another contractor was here. That didn't mean she wasn't curious but she needed to get this out of the way. And what the hell was she wearing that mask for? "Yes, she looks great," she speeded the conversation along, earning her a glare from Kael that went unnoticed by her. "But look, she got attacked the other day by a priest and I was hoping you'd be more interested in that than flirting."

A low growl pulled out from Kael's throat in frustration as she glared at her contractor but she eased back and unzipped her hoody, pulling one side off to reveal her bandaged forearm. This would definitely be an interesting meeting between her new body, the injury, this two demon'd woman and the fresh lemony imp.

As soon as the door closed, Aurore gently set her bag on the floor allowing Atha to waddle his way out into the open. The smell of surrounding demons caused the grin on his plump little face to widen, his momentarily landing on the one that was familiar, then drifting to the new one that smelled of blood and meat. Not his choice in meals, but she did look quite good.

Much like that weird show on that box in the living room.

"Heheh..."

Aurore quickly checked the inside of her bag, quickly pulling her writing things out and making sure they were still in tact. Small, wet burns nipped at the edges, but the rest was fine (despite the condition of the inside of her purse at this point).

Brushing the edges of the paper off, the woman quickly began writing onto the page. She held it to her chest as she waited patiently for the younger girl (or at least, she looked younger?) to talk to the man. It seemed that they had planned this visit, while Aurore herself was merely here on a whim. It was only proper and respectful for her to wait until their business was done, right?

Atha made his way over to this Kael, getting a better whiff of her scent and looking her over. Her choice in clothing was rather boyish and loose, making it difficult to really get a look at anything other than her face, and the light amount of feminine curves that couldn't be contained by the draping cloth. The image of her bare was really what Athanase wanted to see.

And her actual form.

The back room was rather crowded at this point but not so crowded that it didn't give them a reasonable amount of space to navigate in. At this point, Daichi had busied himself with taking out three fold-able chairs. As dense as he was in personality, it seemed he was just as much so in noticing the other's attractiveness. Perhaps, it was the initial shock of finding a grown demon just like him that had captured his attention so rapturously.

"M'hm. You look great."

Daichi's hands tried to pry the rusty metal of the chair apart, the worn legs refused to move from their folded position. With a grunt, Daichi's side of the conversation would more or less lapse into silence. With a loud clatter of metal against metal, finally, the chairs lined up to accommodate the standing women. He gestured for Aurore to sit, mindful that the others seemed .. rather busy.

(W-Was .. Athanase .. What in the world was that imp doing? Daichi raised a skeptical eyebrow at this point .. mouth opening as if he was about to say something, hand raised as if to point it out .. But he thought better of it and shut his open mouth.)

On the other hand, as reclusive as Noctis could be, it seemed that art was better performed on him than Daichi. He crossed his arm, one hand rubbing thoughtfully at his chin, a slanted smile transformed into a chuckle as he took the moment to survey the almost fantasy-like appearance of Kael's human form. Blue hair, definitely not a natural hair color, would have come with the assumption of a rambunctious teenager who outrageously colored their hair with some cheap drug store bottle. But Kael's hair ... Well, comparatively, one could almost say they were looking as a spring pond or the sky, when looking at Kael.

Having never a speck of blue on Kael's previous form, Noctis would have burst into questions on how the other came out so-- Like Daichi, who had been a similar shade as an imp, his hair color and eyes did nothing to resemble his imp form at all.

But that was as far as Kiwi would allow Noctis and Kael's interaction to go. Fortunately (or unfortunately in Noctis's case,) it was a much more interesting topic that Kiwi brought up. All too familiar yet vague, a topic that Noctis hadn't wanted to approach so soon. One could see his knee-jerk reaction when Kiwi brought in the word "priest," the clipboard in his hands falling to the ground in an abrupt manner. Noctis's glasses were crooked from his initial reaction of shock, bending low to pick up the fallen papers.

"I-Is that so. A priest, huh?" Noctis's distracted tone and his coal-black eyes refused to meet Kiwi's, concentrated instead on a blank spot on the wall beside him. A shaky attempt at a confident smile was ruined by his wavering tone. "Y--yeah. You just might want to watch out for those guys. Stronger than they seem, really."

Story time of Noctis's lack of caution and Daichi's once-very-gullible (and still is) nature was not open for discussion. Not at this point. Not in the future. Never.

It was difficult, as they spoke, for both girls to take their eyes off the one wearing the medical mask. Kiwi's attentions were drawn to the mask in particular, while Kael's was toward the woman as a whole. There was something so strange about her, a darkness that felt deeper than but a single contract, or even a single demon, and for a brief moment she wondered if, perhaps, the woman herself was one of her kind. Those thoughts were quickly shaken off; she didn't smell like a demon but she smelled as though she had been touched by one -- inside.

She watched, enthralled, as the woman pulled out a book of paper and a pencil from her bag, scribbling, but she did not show it to anyone and likely wouldn't until a chance presented itself. A low chuckle formed in her throat at the realization that this woman could not speak and it was then that she looked down to the yellow imp and her smile widened, growing less human. It seemed he was interested in her and perhaps pleased by something about her form, so she ran a hand through her hair, preening for the imp.

Daichi's response at her form was less than desired and her grin faltered, eyes darkening at the other demon. She supposed he would get a free pass since he was distracted but it only meant that she would have to show him her natural demonic appearance in full some other time for a proper reaction.

Then there was a sudden clatter.

"Jeez," her contractor huffed, leaning away from Noctis and the fallen papers, making no motion to assist in picking them up, "You have a lot of caffeine today? You're jumpy as s**t."

If Kael's tail had been out, it would have swished in displeasure. Kiwi was decidedly not smart on picking up body language and social cues and Noctis' sudden switch in behavior from examining her aesthetic appeal to being rudely interrupted and startled by such news only meant to her that he had encountered a priest himself. "White hair," she mumbled, bright eyes locked on Noctis' face, "Called me 'darling'." The chances were slim at best that their priests were the same but those were his two most obvious and unique traits off the top of her head, aside from his use of knives in battle.

Without another word, she reached for her bandages and began undoing them. The thinner the layer became, the more the fabric appeared wet but there was a distinct lack of red staining the cloth. Finally falling away, Kael revealed the wound properly and showed it to Noctis, Daichi, Aurore and finally Athanase. It was a thin slice across her bottom of her forearm, toward the wrist, and didn't look particularly deep. However, it did appear to be slowly seeping a dark, oily substance like watered down tar and the stench it gave off once exposed to the air was akin to rotting flesh. Cringing at her own injury, she knelt down to the imp so he could get a better look, her face quite serious as she moved one of her hands to stroke against his yellow body.

"Stay away from priests."

Noctis finally tucked away the items in his hand, within the darkness of a shelf, as he seemed to consider their words and conversation carefully. Daichi's attention focused on Kael, in a attempt at a nonchalant appearances humans often did by crossing his hands behind his head and leaning back in his chair. What has the other bartenders told him? To look cool, right? He tried to school his face into a calm one, although it seemed that one of the virtues of Daichi's nature was exactly that quality, making the effort useless.

Meanwhile, Noctis couldn't stop himself from remarking on Kael's description, short and inept to anyone else listening but more than enough information for the inventor. Probably more than enough for Jack, if he was here to listen. "White hair. Hm. Sounds like him, alright." He murmured. Demons and priests .. The combination never seemed to work in any situation.

Both males watched in fascination, the unwrapping process unlike what the two males witnessed before. Never had these two gone into a hostile fight, although that wasn't to say they might not enter one in the future. Noctis and Daichi's face were both grimacing, although the sharpened senses of a demon made the odoriferous scent that much stronger, he had more tolerance for it than a human. Noctis's nose and mouth was covered in one hand, emitting a muffled apology.

He was used to the smell of food left beyond it's natural state. He was used to the smell of gas and could tell it's age from it's smell precisely .. Many things, none of which included the smell of death.

"If demons are made of darkness, isn't that what heals you?I'm not sure if human methods work, especially when you consider your composition is vastly different from our own. Even if one like Daichi looks remarkably the same-- Although the skin and bleeding part are similar."

( OOC NOTE: Neon said I could have Aurore excuse herself in my post so that's what I'm doing while trying to be as ungodmoddy as possible~ )

The female demon tilted her head in response to their reactions, staring down Noctis briefly before glancing at her wound as well. It was rather unfortunate, the whole ordeal, but the thing that gutted Kael the most was not being able to injure the Priest in kind or else gain the opportunity to completely eviscerate him. Tail swishing lazily, she glanced to her contractor who seemed to be transfixed on the other human female's mask rather than the accompanying imp.

Her own gaze shifted somewhat curiously as the woman scribbled in her book, not seeming to pay attention to the surrounding conversation. Before long, she tucked her pencil away and revealed the note to everyone who could read it and spread across the page was an apology for interrupting a perceived planned meeting and that she and her imp would depart to reconvene with the two bartenders at a later date. Kael's eyes narrowed at the woman, still feeling a dark pull toward her before she realized where she knew her from.

It had been some time ago now, but there was no mistaking it. This woman was the same as in that gathering of humans so desperate to form a contract similar to how she was originally formed. The assistance of the masked demon brought all of their wishes to fruition in time as well as gave birth to new demons which were slowly but surely beginning to propagate splendidly within the city of La'To.

She packed her things away and pulled the imp back into her large bag, though he didn't appear to keen on the idea of leaving, and with that the two were out. Well, she had their scent now -- a scent of dark lust and acid -- and she would be able to find them in time. For now, however, there were more important matters to attend.

"Darkness, huh..." her contractors voice broke her thought process and a toothy frown pulled across her lips but she did not interrupt, "Could there be like... some kind of concentration of darkness with magic or...?" She sounded so idiotic, talking about things she couldn't possibly comprehend and knew absolutely nothing about.

Kael let out a hiss of a chuckle in response, gleaming eyes glaring down at her injury, "Shadows..." she stated simply, though she supposed she should have thought of it sooner herself. With that out of the way, the carnivorous demon began redressing her wound, holding some of the bandages with her mouth so as to tie it and refusing any offered help from her human.

"Noctis..." she murmured after completing her task, stepping forward lightly and making an approach to the bartender that didn't end until she was standing on her tippy toes with their noses almost touching, "Promised meat for examining... Is examining going to happen or is it done?" At the end of her question, a low rumble vibrated in her throat and chest, a warning that if Noctis did not make good on his promise for meat she would be sure to get it one way or another.

Noctis and Daichi acknowledged Aurore's exit with a wave of their hands, Daichi's feet moving quickly to open the door for the exiting ladies. His hand lingered on the silver handle of the door, even after they stepped out .. His thoughts mirrored Kael's, watching the back of the exiting woman. A woman who could only be seen fleetingly on the streets, less so in the fickle memories of one's mind .. Much like an ordinary human that populated the bar that Daichi was forced to attend to .. How much more of these ordinary humans turn to the ways of contracting?

How much would die from the efforts .. or succeed? Humans were mysterious creatures .. Their composition and thought processes were remarkably similar yet they created and expanded on the very idea of individualism. Those same qualities of variety was what attracted demons to contract with them. How different these humans like Noctis and Kiwi were .. yet they looked the same as all the rest. Just like those, mingling throughout the bar. There were still so many secrets to them. Especially regarding contractors and exorcists.

On the other side of the room, conversation still persisted, regardless of Daichi's unusually deep musing of thoughts.

"I can't help you with that darkness factor. They work in mysterious ways.. I've got a whole shelf of notes that I can't make heads or tail with." Noctis's deep voice of amusement left the air with a cheerful silence, a comfortable lack of sound as Kael dressed her wound. It was that comfort, distilled by Kael's slow and sultry approach toward's Noctis .. The alarm in the raven-like male was obvious, like a bird who had been set off-guard by a rock. His fingers nervously traveled to the bridge of his nose, adjusting a view that needed absolutely no adjustment in the first place. The inventor attempted to take a step back but since he was already against the wooden shelf, he had to settle for a fidgeting pose instead.

"I would like some blood tests done as well as samples of other parts. Like your hair and some x-rays .. " He tried to recover some show of confidence and the effort was probably somewhat successful. But the larger show of his skittish qualities had greatly overshadowed that part, his hand cutting between the bridges of the noses uncomfortably. Apparently, the inventor had no problem with close proximity with females unless you came up within one meter of his face. Then, that just wasn't a scientifically objective distance anymore.

Oh, Noctis did like scientifically objective distances.

" .. but that'll take a lengthy period of time that we don't have at the moment. Since you seem to be in quite the rush, Ill just take it now to examine later. " Noctis's effort to close their meeting and probably distance himself from Kael was poorly disguised. Daichi, however, took vast amusement in the situation.. although, the threatening a contractor before his very own demon wasn't a very bright move. As the inventor turned to turn to grab a grey metal-plated suitcase, Daichi stepped forward.

His hand lightly brushing against the edge of Kael's pale shoulder. It was a cautious touch, fleeting without lingering .. but the touch was icy cold. He leaned in from behind, cutting off apath of movement from one side as his mouth leaned close .. Never close enough to participate in the human action of lips against one's ear but it was rather close. It was the first, in their meeting, that Daichi had dared to approach the female demon. In such an abnormal way, no less. Abnormal to Daichi's passive nature. The air was charged with some sort of electric tension .. but one wasn't sure what way it leaned towards.

But he, himself, was a male demon.

"Mine."

Look but don't touch. His possessive whisper sent a cold breath against Kael's ear before Daichi leaned back, his point made. Meanwhile, Noctis had escaped somewhere during the process, his metallic case opening to several small syringes and clear tubes. The process of taking samples would take only a few minutes .. and the fridge was open to Kael's robbery of meat.

The female contractor seemed a little frustrated that she didn't get to figure out what was up with the other blonde or what was involved with the small imp, the only other one she had seen besides Kael herself. She huffed and folded her arms, leaning against the nearby wall and pouting as the door closed. As such, in her disgruntled stupor both with not gaining a new acquaintance in this shared nonsense that was being a contractor to demons and thorough dislike of the given situation, she nearly missed Noctis' very sudden turn to nervousness.

Almost.

Her eyes were wide as she watched the hushed exchange, Kael laying the intimidation on thick (though it was difficult for her to tell if it was natural or intentional), and then her eyes narrowed. It seemed completely uncharacteristic of him and Kiwi wasn't sure what she felt about the abrupt change; did his nervousness make her feel more nervous, was she irritated that she couldn't stand up to him like that or was it salt in the wound from their first interaction where he continuously made her feel like an idiot? She couldn't tell but at least now she knew that Kael was a good way to make him uneasy, somehow, and she had that advantage over him now.

Kael, on the other hand, just wanted her damn meat. He agreed to this, it was a promise, so if it wasn't done yet then he had better finish up and get it over with so she could get her reward for his own inane human curiosities. He told her what he needed and then ducked away to retrieve the necessary items, the demon's tail swishing impatiently like a snake along the floor behind her. And then her impassive expression turned to irritation as something touched her, fingers cold like frigid rain or icy tears against her tanned warm flesh. It wasn't until she realized it was most definitely not Noctis, who stood in front of her, or her own human who was to her left peering curiously at what Noctis was retrieving, that she relaxed and leaned into the touch. The touch of another demon.

"Mine."

Her face turned blank, mouth forming a thin line as her strange eyes lowered their lids into a listless stare. She did not need reminding of who this human belonged to. In point of fact, the demon behind her no longer needed this human just as she no longer needed hers and she certainly didn't need her original contractor. Still, Noctis belonged to Daichi, body and soul as a means to an end for the young scientist, and until Daichi was ready to claim his due it was not her place to intrude. However, there was nothing saying she couldn't take the promised meat herself or drag a bar patron or two out into an alley and devour them.

"Yours," she affirmed in the same cold whisper Daichi had used, turning slightly to glance over her shoulder. Something stirred within her as she saw how close his face was to her own and her free hand slowly reached up, a finger tracing the male demon's jawline before he retreated from his successful warning. A touch against her skin from a male, especially one of her own, was something she had never experienced before and it was something she enjoyed thoroughly. In fact, 'intimate' skin contact such as this had not been received even from Kiwi since she had become a full demon instead of a lowly imp. A low exhale caused Kael to open her mouth, long and slender worm-like tongue sneaking out toward Daichi but the sudden sound of glass clinking and the scent of frozen meat interrupted her from making contact with the monstrous appendage.

Her contractor was looking on in confusion between the two demons, not knowing what was going on between them let alone if it was consensual, but Noctis bringing the items out to take samples was enough of a distraction. "You said you had notes?" she mumbled, stepping closer to Noctis but keeping a safe distance (as she, herself, was not one for close quarters with other people). "If we could borrow those that'd be great..." Kiwi kept her voice low so as not to disrupt Noctis' preparations. At least after the samples were taken they could head back home and she could relax.

It was surprising .. It wouldn't had been so if Kael's reaction to the bold declaration as anything similar to her previous displays. Surprise. The relaxation and brief touch of female muscles against his own, the sensation was acutely sharp. The only sign of it was a fleeting spark in Daichi's black eyes, his eyes lowering, captivated by the arresting view of her finger against his jawline. Likewise, Daichi's only proximity to their kind was his contractor's detailed descriptions of Jack and Duke. However, Duke was a male.

Daichi had showed little appreciation of Kael before this, when the demoness first arrived .. But something had changed. Perhaps, it was the way his eyes never left, his shoulders lowering suspiciously as Kael's attention turned back towards the meat. Had he been expecting something?

Noctis's long fingers curved around a syringe, the rotational movement of his hands indicating he was finishing the last of the preparations as he screwed the syringe together. Like Kiwi, the interaction between Kael and Daichi hadn't gone unnoticed. Both humans had little understanding of the pair's demonic nature, forced into a bystander role. The display was unsettling, spreading through the room like a ripple effect. It was hardly surprising, considering the topic comprised of the contractor's goals and deaths. Uh.. Mainly, their death. Noctis wasn't sure if he liked the reversed position. Always an inventor who had the whims of machinery under his mercy, he wasn't quite so accommoding with playing the role of the clock about to be taken apart to someone's whims. But unfortunately, that was a perk that came with the contract. Noctis shuffled through the case, slips of white paper sticking out from the velvet pocket. It held illegible scribbles and drawings, one of a vaguely familiar teadrop. He shook his head, as Kiwi spoke, making little effort to hide his surprise that the timid contractor actually seemed to have spoken up. He expected her to occupy her corner for the night .. but her question wasn't what he expected.

"Unfortunately, they wont be of help to you. Unless you care for a lengthy summury of Daichi's composition and measurements. It's unfortunate to admit that Kael here is only the second of my experiments. I don't have nearly enough data as I'd like to even compare the both of them. Of course, I don't think Ill ever have enough--" Noctis indicated for Daichi to come closer, the syringe adeptly changing hands. Meanwhile, that left Noctis free to gesture as he spoke to Kiwi. "Take a look at their features. Everything about them seems to be on a different level from each other entirely-- There is no similiar basis for comparison .. Unless you count the fact they can adapt to human appearances."

The reason why the syringe had gone to Daichi was obvious. The reaction that Kael had with contact seemed to be on two different extremes. The extreme Noctis had been placed on? He wouldn't have bet his chances there.

In contrary to Noctis's talking, Daichi was as silent as a rock. Although it wasn't unusual in his character, it wasn't in his character to hold back either.

Was Daichi holding back? It was hard to tell.

His distance from the demoness was marked .. closer than before? Although they faced each other this time, the appearance of him and his bartender outfit suddenly seeming inappropriate. It was as if their eyes had been opened, a wolf hiding amongst sheep .. A demon hiding amongst humans. But perhaps, it was simply the general perception that made it appear so. It could have been merely nothing.

His touch now was no less or more then before, icy cold, as one hand reached out for Kael's arm while the other held a syringe. His fingers patiently coaxed Kael's palm to open, his fingers brushing down to keep a gentle hold on her wrist. It was a procedure that Daichi had seen dozens of times, the way Noctis pressed down slightly on the arm muscle before entering the sharp tip of the needle.

The syringe sure took it's time filling up. The needle looked impossibly small, as if it could break any moment. However, firm metal indicated, by human standards, that it shouldn't. Daichi's steely grip .. Well, he was trying his best to keep the trivial item safe.
