Ruins of a large cathedral. The walls are crumbled, and the doors have rotten away. The lands have browned with death. However, a stain glass window of an angel remains untouched, though the bars have rusted.

Yvonne walked into the cathedral, and sat on a pew. She looked at the alter, which was lit with the colors of the unbroken window. "Ratatosk."
Ratatosk appeared and sat next to Yvonne. He looked at her, his eyes holding love. "Yes? What is it, Yvonne?"
She looked at him, smiling softly. It held a bit of love, but it was mostly guarded. "You haven't protested to being in this world often. Why?"
"I am half human. I belong in this world, too. Not just Shangri'La." He looked at the alter. "Besides, I've been spending a lot of time with you. That makes it bareable."

-Icarus had been in the form of a chickadee and had been flying around, as Sy had not been around for a while, and Bernard was watching over the baby. He flew into the area and saw Yvonne with another person, so he flew into a nearby tree to watch and listen-

Ratatosk looked back at Yvonne, his face softening. She looked so peaceful here, and happy. Truly happy. But, he knew it was because she was engaged to Bernard. That fact angered him, but he kept it under control. "You haven't shown me the ring yet."
"I don't know if I should. I know how much it angers you at the thought of me marrying Bernard, and I'm afraid showing you the ring will anger you more." She fiddled with her thumbs, looking down at the floor.
"Yvonne." Ratatosk took her face in his hands, and turned her head so they were looking into each others' eyes. "I am in love with you. Yes, thinking of you and Bernard boils the murderous intent inside me. But, I would never do anything to cause you pain or sorrow."

-Icarus heard them and turned to watch them, acting as a normal chickadee would, and chirping to other chickadees in the area-

Yvonne looked into Ratatosk's blood red eyes, and let out a sigh as she got out the ring after pulling away from Ratatosk. She held it out to him.
Ratatosk looked at the ring, and felt the elemental energy it gave off. "You used this ring to aid in Adrian's death, didn't you?"
"In a sense. I channeled all of my negative energy into the gems in forms of elemental energy. I did it so I wouldn't go completely insane with the power I wasn't ready to handle."
He smiled. "You're a lot smarter than you were when you were new to this school. Then again, sharing my mana may have helped you keep control, too."
Yvonne looked down as the memories of those horrible days returned to her, and she blushed when Ratatosk hugged her. "It must have been hard on my father and mother, to watch me writh in pain like I did."

-Icarus became uncomfortable watching this. He could tell they both were feeling something for each other, or at least Ratatosk for Yvonne, and he watched as in the distance a shadowed figure began to come that way, and he noticed that it was Bernard. He flew over to Bernard as he came the way of the Cathedral, and transformed before him and put his hand over his mouth-
Ssshhh...follow me...I found the people you are looking for.
-He lead Bernard near the area and to a point where they could hear and watch what they were doing-

A tear slid from Yvonne's eye as she covered her head, and she felt Ratatosk's arms tighten around her slightly. She couldn't stand those memories. She honestly liked the memories of her stepfather better. At least her parents weren't forced to watch in pain as she was tormented then like she was when she was victim to those seizures. "Ratatosk, I never thanked you. For merging your mana with mine in order to save me."
Ratatosk looked at Yvonne in complete shock. "You don't have to thank me. It was my father's orders after all."
"Even so, you could have rejected the order. Yet, you went through with it." She looked at him. "But, why?"
"You were only two. Even if I didn't care about anything other than the races of Shangri'La, seeing such a small child cry out in such agony and suffer through those horrible seizures brought out the humanity I had been rejecting for so long." He let go of her and looked at the alter. "I did it so that I wouldn't have to watch you slowly deteriorate in such a state."

-Bernard watched solemnly, wishing he could make her feel better, but knew this was a conversation between the person who saved her life. He remained silent as he watched-
-Icarus looked from Yvonne & Ratatosk to Bernard, knowing he didn't like watching her being comforted by another but recognizing she needed to talk to him-

Yvonne wanted to turn this conversation around, but she didn't know how. Suddenly, she got an idea. "Oh! Guess what I finally managed to succeed!?"
"What's that?"
She stood and went up to the alter. There was a stone table there, and she stood behind it as Ratatosk followed. "Watch." She gathered elemental samples, each corresponding with their colors. Slowly and gracefully, she moved her hands. The samples began to glow, and the sphere of water quivered. It wasn't long before the sounds of ocean waves could be heard.
Ratatosk watched and listened, amazed an Apprentice had managed to succeed in such an act. He smiled at her, his eyes closed as he took in the sound of the waves.
Yvonne continued, and focused an the samples. Soon, she had made all the sounds of nature. When she was done, she let out deep breath and wrapped her arm around her stomach. "See?"
"Are you alright? Did you use too much energy?"
"Haha. Look at the Centurion King, worrying about little old me." She smiled at him. "I'm fine. It's not like I haven't experienced worse pain."

-Bernard and Icarus continued to watch, Bernard happy Yvonne was able to do that, but wondered why she didn't show him. He began to feel depressed-

"Have you showed Bernard yet?"
"Not yet. I've only just perfected it. And, I wanted you to be the first one to see it."
"Why me? Bernard is your lover." The very words made Ratatosk's body tense, if only for a few seconds.
"Well, you were the one to tell me about it. So, it's natural that you should be the first to see it." She saw him tense, and her eyes softened. "I'm sorry I couldn't be what you want, Ratatosk."
Ratatosk shook his head. "It's not like we would've been able to be with each other anyway. You're part of the Bloodline." He smiled softly. "I'm just happy that you're my mistress. It calms to to know that you'll be able to contact me until the very day you die." A playful smile formed on his lips, but he quickly made it go away. "It's time I got back to Shangri'La. I promised Aqua I would go swimming with her today. Got to keep my subjects happy, you know."
Yvonne nodded, and watched him vanish with a flash of golden energy. She wondered what Shangri'La was like, but knew she was forever forbidden from entering the world until she died. Only then would her soul be allowed within Shangri'La. "...Enough depressing thoughts! It's time I got home and showed Bernard my newest trick! She started to walk towards the doorway of the cathedral, but stopped. She blinked, feeling a murderous presence in the area. "I'm sure it's nothing."

-Bernard looked and vanished away as soon as he heard the word "mistress." Every time he had heard that word it meant something of a relationship, and he vanished away in a flash-
-Icarus slide his back down the side of the Cathedral, knowing Bernard was hurt. He heard Yvonne coming towards the entrance, and sat, looking at the ground, even as Yvonne saw him sitting there as she was leaving-

As Yvonne continued to walk, she stopped and gripped her chest. The sharp pain surprised her, and she fell to her knees. "What's....What's going on...!?" She coughed, covering her mouth as blood came out. Her eyes widened, the pain moving from her chest to engulf her whole body. N-No...! This shouldn't be happening! Unable to contain the pain, Yvonne let out a pain-filled shriek. Her wings sprouted, and twitched grusomely. "D-Daddy...!!"

-Icarus looked up at the shriek and he rushed to her side, immediately casting a healing spell as his hand made contact with her-
-Bernard had recognized the scream and had still been within the area reappeared by her side and held her close-
Love, what's wrong?
