Are there any religions that believe that gods and goddessess of other religions are real? I have two friends that believe that gods and goddessess of other religions are real. They even put togethere a coven type thing to practise this idea. Do you believe that a god and a goddess can have a child and that child be born as a human? Would that human be able to know/find out that he or she is there child? I was just wanting to hear other's thoughts on these ideas.

I'd have to do some more research. Your OP posed some very interesting questions and I honestly haven't heard of any religions that really acknowledge other gods or goddess existence.

There are plenty of people who believe in gods and goddesses that they don't worship. Most (though not all) polytheists acknowledge that the gods and goddesses outside of their own religion exist.
The "having a human baby" thing seems relegated to mythology for the most part. The only people really you hear supporting the idea happening now are the ones who seem convinced that they are the child of a deity, in a direct and literal sense. I put very little stock in the idea myself.

I've seen it where it mostly relates either to mythology or symbolic of a covenant. The latter is common with the pharaohs as well as state religious practice in Ancient Egypt. ETA: As to the OP's other questions, also a couple of the Ancient Egyptian myths the god in question created mankind through some bodily fluid, which I suppose could be construed as birthing humans. Acknowledging other gods does seem to occur in the aforementioned religion as well, especially since some of the gods originate from other lands. It is doubly so when you account for the fact that the pantheon changed from city to city.

I've never heard of that, but it does kind of make sense. Yeah, my freind is convinced she's the child of a deity and that two of her friends are also children of deities. I do not believe this, though. Sanguina Cruenta There are plenty of people who believe in gods and goddesses that they don't worship. And there are many common themes in mythology that pop up on opposite ends of the world. Psychologists and sociologists have some pretty interesting theories explaining common trends, but I've heard some theists say that it's just an example of their god portrayed by another culture.

She thinks that the goddess of the hunt and the god of war are her real parents, sorry I forgot their names, She says that a spirit that she's known since childhood told her about her reall parents. Yeah, I've been researching mythology a lot lately and have noticed the similarities. brainnsoup Shadow-kissed Shell I've never heard of that, but it does kind of make sense. Because that would be hilarious.

That sounds right, but I'm not really sure. May I ask why that would be hilariuos? Shadow-kissed Shell That sounds right, but I'm not really sure. May I ask why that would be hilariuos? Because Artemis is a virgin goddess. Very adamant about remaining so. The only way this would be possible would be through a rather violent rape. Edit: That sounds bad. Let me clarify. Rape is not hilarious. What is hilarious is that your friend may think she is a child of these two deities, when this would not be possible given the lore. Claiming that Ares has recently raped Artemis would be a really massive claim, and not one that most people would accept. So either she's totally ignorant about the gods she's claiming to be her parents, or she's claiming to be the product of a violent forced sexual encounter.

Oh, well I guess I don't know my mythology as much as I thought I did. Well she said she was really born over 300 years ago, so it wouldn't have been that recent.
