Avatar of Retribution Khai did the same but snagged his rifle strap on the jagged stone. The strap caught on his wrist and he struggle to free himself until gunfire erupted behind them and a bullet sheared off a bit of the rock, breaking the strap on his rifle but releasing Khai. He trailed after Karim, keenly aware of the fresh bulletholes in the wall he'd been standing behind. bust(a)nut "Good lord!" Karim exclaims worring about the young soldiers condition, "Get a move on our your body will regret it, this is war damnit." He sees a truck with a mounted .50 cal. heavy machine gun straped to the back. He quickly aims for the gas can on the back of it and fires. Suddenly the truck erupts into flame as the flaming crew franticly run out of the thing burning alive, Karim ends their pain with the help of a bullet. Avatar of Retribution "Get down!" Khai tackled Karim as one of the crew snagged the heavy machine gun from the burning truck and sprayed fifty cals in their direction. The boy peered cautiously around the corner, then reached out with his AK when the man stopped firing and plugged him. bust(a)nut "Holy s**t!" Karim seid after getting up from a near death experience. "Well that's it I'm gonna kill every one of these mother ********." Just as he says that tons of raiders start pouring out of the city scared shitless after a city revolted and kick the crap out of the insergents. "Damn those panzies! Get back here so I can shoot your asses!" Karim says just trying to wear off his adrenaline, that didn't work. Khai grinned ueasily and shouldered his rifle, his heart pounding mercilessly. They'd come so close to death, but never crossed the line. He counted himself lucky, but then again it was in the nature of the Arans to survive under any circumstances (which explains why the country has never ben successfully occupied by an imperial nation). "Do you need a place to stay, Karim?" Khia asked, trying to make conversation.

"It does get awfuly lownsome in a gun shop I would like somewhere else to stay while I attempt to regain my weapons back from this town." Karim says hoping to be relieved of his mind opressing conditions of solitude.

"You can stay with me," the boy offered. "My father's gone across the Holy Mountains and my mother passed away when I was young, so there's plenty of food."

Shack was a more appropriate term for Khai's abode, though by the standards of dirt poor Aran villagers it was a moderate accomodation. There were three rooms, a living room/kitcheb, a bedroom, and a bathroom. Outside was a pump for harvesting precious water.
"Make yourself at home," Khai said, waving a hand over the room as they entered. "I'll make us some dinner." He brought a pot of water in and set it on the rusty gas burning stove in the kitchen. Crue oil was by far the most profitable natural resource Aras posessed, but most of it was smuggled off to foreigners. The villagers were lucky to get enough gas to run a stove, let alone heat their homes.

"Hey any place you call home is good enough for me. Heck I remember a time where I had to camp in the mud for a whole week, with rations for four days. Oh while I'm talking about food, what's on the menu for the night." Karim stops himself from his boring war stories before he started to ramble on comstantly.

"Chickpeas and lintels," he replied, stirring the vegetables with a wooden spoon. "The sons of bitches from before shot my goat," he added hotly.

"You should be lucky it was your goat instead of your neak."Karim stated.
In Aras the targets most insergents do the most damage to the citizens by not killing or wounding the people but killing off the livestock of the people, making the citizens poorer by meens of food deprival and no fresh milk or meat to sell at the market.
"I tell you what, I'll go get you a new goat in the morning. I might not have the cash to buy one but I'll look for one in my travels and if I can catch it I'll give it to ya." Karim said trying to help the boys situation.

"Don't trouble yourself," Khai replied, dishing the food into bowls. "I'll be fine." He set a steaming bowl in front of Karim and sat down across from him. "My father says troops from Ceraunia are coming to drive out the militants," the boy said hopefully, eating the vegetables. "He says they're going to set up a fair government like the one they have in Ceraunia. He says then we won't have to worry about food. The government will take the food from the soldiers and give it to the people."

"That will be the day, man I'm sick and tired of these "polititans" claiming they're doing their best if you want my advice invest in some land, farm it and live on your own, but then you'ld have to deal with raiders like the ones we delt with today." Karim explains while putting his spoon into his bowl.

"But we have enough guns to make an organized army. Then we could fight them until there's peace," Khai replied. "M father says Aras hasn't seen true peace in a thousand years, not since the Great Lord died."
King Akhmed ha Saar was the last true ruler of Aras, but after his death the sultanate collapsed and the country reverted to primitive subsistence farming and feudal villages. The nation never recovered enough to gain a true centralized government.

"Yea, and we could also take over the government, but people would eventualy get through. The last thing this country needs is tobe divided. If we united as one people and set up a border unit to fend off those fiends then we could win." Karim preaches to the young boy. He then takes a spoon full of lentals and begins tosipat his soup.

"I want Aras to be united, too," Khai replied, drinking the broth out of his soup. "But those men that attacked weren't foreigners, they were Arans like you and me. We can never unite while people like that live in our country."

"Well then I guess that's just tough s**t for us the people, we don't do a damn thing to deserve this crap and we don't get any support from the government either." Karim rambles after finishing off his soup in one last gulp.
