So, I have been seeing a lot of posts pertaining to weight. As a sympathizer, who has struggles with weight since I hit puberty, I completely understand. Exercise isn't all it's cracked up to be and neither is dieting. I am 5'9" and weigh 162lbs thanks to Weight Watchers. I have been in a little over a month and lost 9 pounds! That doesn't sound like much but on a tall person that is a significant difference. I went down an entire pant size. The key to weight loss is to track what you eat. No matter if you are a member of a diet program or you're trying a diet or even reading a nutrition book, the most effective way to lose weight is to carry a little journal with you and jot down what you eat every day and record the nutritional value of that food/drink. It is all about moderation and learning how to eat in moderation.

Nutrition experts be the first to tell you, your whole diet doesn't have to change. If you want that slice of pizza, have it. Just note what else you've eaten that day and if it is really worth the calories, unsaturated fats, complex carbs, etc. I recommend making it a habit to stay informed about what is in your food and knowing what it is (i.e. the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates, un/saturated fates, aspartame, etc).

You have the choice to stay overweight or to try and lose weight. personally, I have joined weight watchers, cut meat (except for fish) out of my diet. I have cut soda out of my diet. I don't drink coffee. I drink a lot more milk/chocolate milk, water, and tea (NOT sweetened. Sugar=fat=calories=never having a swimsuit body). For exercise, which is tricky being a full time college student with 2 jobs, I try to walk around campus ALWAYS take the stairs, and if I have time I play Just Dance, Zumba, or The Micheal Jackson Experience. I even bought some work out videos that I do.

There are several other sources that can give you great information. Personally, I like hungrygirl.com and foodnetwork.com has several HEALTHY recipies!

It is VERY hard to stay motivated when trying to lose weight and eat right and if you have support and can be very beneficial. smile So, let's all work together to make healthier girls out of each other!

There are so many benefits to being healthier (NOT necessarily skinnier!): decreased risk of Diabetes type II, decreased risk of Breast Cancer, Increased energy (for exercise OR "exercise" wink ), you'll feel better about yourself, decrease of illness, increased positive self image, regular menstruation, lower stress, and so much more!

So let's work together to build a healthier guild and healthier girls in general!

If you feel you do not have the support you need from family/friends and are struggling, please don't hesitate to contact me via PM. I understand. My boyfriend (who is 6'3" and 150lbs--skinny freak! smile [I love that man!♥]) frustrates me because he doesn't think I need to lose weight when I was very recently medically overweight before beginning my own weight loss journey. So, you can always vent to me or even come to me for ideas or words of encouragement and I will be more than happy to help out!

Tip/Challenge of the week: Cut ALL soda/pop/coke out of your diet! EVEN/ESPECIALLY diet! Diet sodas contain Aspartame which was turned down by the FDA SEVEN times!!! It causes many problems, particularly in women, including INFERTILITY and uses cheap sweeteners which have been stripped of any nutrients if they even had any to begin with and then BLEACHED white for appeal.
♥Replace your soda with juice, milk (skim), or water. Juice in particular is full of natural ingredients that will make you feel more energized without the crash that you get from soda.

Now, I know that changing up your diet to healthier foods/drinks can be a stretch. Have fun with it, though. Try making your own pizza (that way you KNOW what is going on it and how much you're getting out of it.

Tip of the Week April 1st!: Lets go veggie all week! You don't have to go vegan but at least try lacto-ovo vegetarianism: you can have dairy and eggs and even fish if you want! Don't forget, though! If you aren't getting all of your essential nutrients this can be bad for you! So, make sure to pick up some multi-vitamins! (Your local pharmacists should be able to tell you what kind!)

April 7: Just water week! That's right! Give up those sugary drinks and sodas! We're gonna detox! If you must drink something besides water, try hot green tea. It's cleansing, good for your pores, and makes a healthier you! wink Don't neglect your vitamins and minerals, though. You need to be getting all of your essential nutrients!

Thank you so, so much for this! : D

I definitely need the support..though I am generally an independent person, I've been craving help from girls who are going through the same thing -- who genuinely want to lose weight, not just to look better but to feel better. =)

Your sources list is amazing, btw. <3

Aww, you're makin' me blush! ♥

I'm just happy to help. I know how hard it is to have to constantly struggle with weight and always be around temptations of junk food and television. The reality is that when you're trying to lose weight, it is so much easier and even fun when you have a support group who is also working with you so you can both better each other and hold each other accountable. That's why I am so grateful for my parents' support because if I'm not losing or if I am gaining, they'll speak up.

I hoped those sources would be helpful! I'm glad you liked them. I highly recommend the carrot cake cupcakes on hungrygirl.com if you've got a sweet tooth! wink
