So, I have been seeing a lot of posts pertaining to weight. As a sympathizer, who has struggles with weight since I hit puberty, I completely understand. Exercise isn't all it's cracked up to be and neither is dieting. I am 5'9" and weigh 162lbs thanks to Weight Watchers. I have been in a little over a month and lost 9 pounds! That doesn't sound like much but on a tall person that is a significant difference. I went down an entire pant size. The key to weight loss is to track what you eat. No matter if you are a member of a diet program or you're trying a diet or even reading a nutrition book, the most effective way to lose weight is to carry a little journal with you and jot down what you eat every day and record the nutritional value of that food/drink. It is all about moderation and learning how to eat in moderation.
Nutrition experts be the first to tell you, your whole diet doesn't have to change. If you want that slice of pizza, have it. Just note what else you've eaten that day and if it is really worth the calories, unsaturated fats, complex carbs, etc. I recommend making it a habit to stay informed about what is in your food and knowing what it is (i.e. the difference between simple and complex carbohydrates, un/saturated fates, aspartame, etc).
You have the choice to stay overweight or to try and lose weight. personally, I have joined weight watchers, cut meat (except for fish) out of my diet. I have cut soda out of my diet. I don't drink coffee. I drink a lot more milk/chocolate milk, water, and tea (NOT sweetened. Sugar=fat=calories=never having a swimsuit body). For exercise, which is tricky being a full time college student with 2 jobs, I try to walk around campus ALWAYS take the stairs, and if I have time I play Just Dance, Zumba, or The Micheal Jackson Experience. I even bought some work out videos that I do.
There are several other sources that can give you great information. Personally, I like hungrygirl.com and foodnetwork.com has several HEALTHY recipies!
It is VERY hard to stay motivated when trying to lose weight and eat right and if you have support and can be very beneficial. smile So, let's all work together to make healthier girls out of each other!
There are so many benefits to being healthier (NOT necessarily skinnier!): decreased risk of Diabetes type II, decreased risk of Breast Cancer, Increased energy (for exercise OR "exercise" wink ), you'll feel better about yourself, decrease of illness, increased positive self image, regular menstruation, lower stress, and so much more!
So let's work together to build a healthier guild and healthier girls in general!
If you feel you do not have the support you need from family/friends and are struggling, please don't hesitate to contact me via PM. I understand. My boyfriend (who is 6'3" and 150lbs--skinny freak! smile [I love that man!♥]) frustrates me because he doesn't think I need to lose weight when I was very recently medically overweight before beginning my own weight loss journey. So, you can always vent to me or even come to me for ideas or words of encouragement and I will be more than happy to help out!
