Tingulin – Six elements (Part 2)

Intro

»A woman of the River People, Fatma was living in the small village of Fjord. One day, when se wanted to go out and look after the fesh – an intelligent, fishlike species which were used as mounts by the River People, she found a little baby. Soon she noticed that this baby was the son of a man living in the country. He was wrapped in an nappy and laws lying in front of their door. Quite naturally she picked him up and noticed that he was still warm even though it was very cold outside. And of course she went inn with the baby boy and talked about him with her husband.
"I couldn’t leave him lying outside. What would you have done? Should I leave him outside and freeze to death!? You can’t be serious."
"Of course not. I just don’t know what to do with him."
"We are going to bring him up. What do you think I was going to do with him!?"
"But that’s impossible. We can’t bring up a baby from the Soil People. You know our races only have a temporary armistice. What do you think will happen when there is a war? I don’t want to think about it. He would have to be in fear of his life every day."
"But it’s not his fault. Being a different race isn’t his fault. You always tried to strengthen the understanding between our peoples. You have to show this in your way of living. Is there a better way of showing that not all Soil People are bad? We could teach him our traditions and how to live with nature."
"Okay, okay he is allowed to stay."
And as if the baby, who was to be named Ronaldo by his new parents, understood it he smiled disarming at Wetochek.
"But only for as long as nobody asks for him", was all Wetochek managed to say before Fatma hugged him with Ronaldo on her arm.

Fatma loved Ronaldo. She changed his nappies, sang him lullabies, played with him and fed him. She attended to him like to an own child. And Wetochek liked him ,too .A month later he would have thought twice about giving away Ronaldo. So Ronaldo spent the first year of his childhood happily. Of course it was very unnatural to live with the river people as a soil people, but nobody took umbrage at this. Everybody saw that Ronaldo needed a home. And nobody ever asked for Ronaldo.

This fantastic story happend in Tingulin. Tingulin – the land were dreams come true. There two peoples lived. The River People and the People living in the country, named Soil People by the River People. For a long time there has been war between them. At this time they have got a temporary armistice, but how long would peace continue? To understand why they are like fire and water you have to know their opposites. But this story is an old one and I have already told you about it.« The old grandfather sighed and looked at his grandson, who was looking at him with big eyes. »You already heard about the great four magicians and how they saved our world once, but did you know, that there are two more elements?«
»No? So I’ll tell you about these tonight.« The grandfather laid back in his armchair and looked at the ceiling for a moment. »Our story begins in a small cottage. Important thing always seem to take place at these small unimportant places…«

Tingulin – Six elements (Part 2)

Spiritanimals - Anima

Not many people know about them, but every strong magician has one. They can control one of the elements like their human opposite. Anima is their name, because they seem to be entangled with the spirit of the magician. Our heroes will eventually find their own Anima once, who knows. I’ll tell you more about them, when the time has come.

A friend reminded me, that it wasn't right for me to play the role of a player and the story teller at the same time. So I won't be doing it like this here again. You can send me your profile and then I'll tell you what to do next.

I need to know:
- how I should call you charakter.
- how your charakter appears to others. What will the recognise, when they first meet him or her.
- how old your character is, when the story begins.
- what your character learned to make a living. Does he have a job?

If you want to tell me anthing else, then you can just add the information. I hope you don't mind, that it took me so long to decide about this.

Keira can do just about anything to earn some money. She is constantly moving around, but she is most at home near water. She has been on her own for a while, since her parents died. She has learned not to depend on anyone else, because it seems that as soon as she gets close to someone, they go away.

Part 1: Searching for treasure

Intro

Tremor is one oft he best mechanicus and alchemists. He is able to produce machines, which are essential for most parts of todays science. This man has also written a message to all adventures, who are hungry for some money and a exciting treasure hunt. Every evening he is sitting in the “tavern to the new wisdom” and waits for some people to recruit for his quest. He lost something of grat importance. Something witch could destroy the whole world, if it gets in the wrong hands. Our story starts in Visara. One of the less towns, where scientists and alchemists gather. Here you have to meet with Tremor. He will tell you a story, which could change your life significantly. That means, only if you are hungry for adventure…

The Tavern „To new wisdom“

You are asking yourself if you’re really at the right place when you entert he doors of this place. Nobody seems to sing a new drinking song nor seems there anybody were pleased with somebody entering here, who is as shaby clothed as you are. If you ask about it, the maid will tell you, that there isn’t any bear in the cellar, but she could give you a fine wine from the good autumn five years ago. The people here are talking about strange topics, for example the new world theorie, the new non-existence materia, the eight speres of wisdom, the prayer tot he 12 gods and the new inventions from the town 100 miles away from here. Everything which could sound as intresting as it sounds like complite bullshit at the same time. At least you would be a little confused, if you listeneed tot he long bearded crowed around you for more then five minutes.

[You can try to describe the atmosphere in the tavern a little more. But don’t say something about Tremor. I’ll write if you find him in here or not. =)]

Kiera walked slowly through the town of Visara, her eyes moving from side to side, taking everything in. There was tale of someone searching for others to go on a quest. It would be something different to do, rather than going from town to town, taking odd jobs. She pushed her hair from her face as it flew into her eyes. She stopped in front of a tavern, studying it for a moment. Well this was as good a place as any to start her search in.

As Kiera stepped in, there was an unreal silence. Usually a tavern had a lot of talking, a lot of singing. This was very strange indeed. She looked around silently for a moment before moving to find a table to sit herself at. As was her custom, she wanted to study everyone, listen to what they were saying. Kiera sat down silently, her hands folded together on top of the table.

After Kiera had sat down, several conversations resumed. Before she even had a chance to try to listen to what anybody was saying, a bar maid came up to her with a smile, asking her if she could do anything. Kiera couldn't help but smile back at the woman.

"Well, what do you have to eat and drink here, and how much would it cost," she asked in a quiet voice. Most of the time when Kiera spoke it was like this, making her seem like a meek little thing. Sometimes it caused her some trouble, but then the people who gave her any trouble soon realize that it was a bad idea to do so. Her long, black hair fell into her eyes again and she pushed it away.

The barmaid still smiled “We have a collection of the best fine vines here in town. There a good blueberry vine, red vine from chateau the naïve, white vine from the far east…..” She was talking about some more vine for several minutes. “… you see, there should be everything you could wish for. And our cook is very skilled. We usually just ask the customers about what they want to.” Her smile broke a little when she remembered, that she had been asked about the price. And then she seemed to realize something. “Oh, you should taste the potato soup and you can have some water as well, of course… perhaps you want to drink and eat something lighter, if you are on travelling.” The barmaid knew how to act against not so wealthy guest who were only passing by and had gotten into the wrong tavern. She always tried to be polite, not like her coworkers, who sometimes didn’t give people a seat, if they didn’t look like money.

While you still try to order something to drink and eat you notice, that there are some people arguing in the right of the room. The voices get more and more angry. And although nobody seems to be able or willing to throw a chair through the room, they debate loud enough for everybody to listen. One would have to be deaf to not understand what they were talking. The three man are all covered with fine linen. The youngest of them suddenly jumps up and shouts at the other two. „You are both wrong. There is a treasure. This thing is more dangerous than you can believe it and if it gets in the wrong hands, we all will be in big trouble. There is no time to discuss about the weather of tomorrow. We have to act now…“ With this he storms out of the tavern. The two remaining people are stunned for a few moments, but then the one with the brown hair asks the other one, if they should pay the bill for the one, who left, as well, or if they should tell the maid to write it on his bill.

Kiera's attention was fixed solely on the barmaid as she spoke. Her fingers drummed lightly, almost silently against the table top. The corner of her lip lifted slightly into a small half smile. She always found it interesting to see someone's reaction at a tavern when she asked how much things would cost. Kiera had plenty of money to suit her lifestyle. She wasn't as rich as some of the others in this place, but she had plenty to live a comfortable life style.

Kiera's gaze flickered over to where men were arguing on the right side of the room. All of them were obviously from money. They had nice, fine clothes and didn't seem to care if anyone overheard their conversation. She leaned back slightly in her chair, an eyebrow slightly raised when the youngest of the men jumped up from his seat. Her gaze continued to follow him as he left the tavern.

Although she had been paying attention to the men, she had heard everything the barmaid had said. "Why don't you bring me out some blueberry wine and that potato soup that you mentioned. I am quite starved." She took some money out of a purse from her side and set it on the table. It was plenty for the food, plus a little more. "Thank you."

Usually guests wouldn’t throw their money on the disk, at least if they weren’t drunken. But Silara only nodded and smiled again. She would bring Kiera a nice dish with soup, herbs were swimming in it and it was smelling just delicious. Steam was showing, that the soup was still hot. With the dish she brought a small basket with bread and a glass with wine. She didn’t bring the whole bottle, because her guest hadn’t said anything about it and she thought, that a woman couldn’t drink a whole bottle alone. She would bring more, if there would come another person to join her meal. This wasn’t a establishment, were you were only satisfying your hunger. People were gathering here, to meet each other and talk. “I hope, everything will satisfy your wishes.” She said, when she set the plates down on the table.

Silara had been in the kitchen for quite a while. Eventually she had been talking to somebody there. This woman wasn’t a normal guest. And who knew, where she had gotten this money.

Kiera had been in the process of moving her head from side to side, popping her neck, when the barmaid came back with her food and drink. She had even been kind enough to bring a small basket of bread with the soup and wine. She gave the other woman a small smile and a nod. "Thank you, I am sure that it will." She picked up her glass, sampling the wine. It was quite good, exactly to her liking. It wasn't often that she permitted herself to drink wine on her journey's, but it had been a while, and she had some down time. "Impressive," Kiera murmured to herself as she sampled the soup and bread. It was by far the best she had ever tasted.

Nearly halfway through her meal, Kiera thought about the young man who had left so abruptly so soon after she had arrived. He had spoken of something falling into the wrong hands, and that it could be dangerous. Maybe this was the person that had a quest in mind. Any how, she would find him later when she was done eating. Right now all she wanted was a satisfied belly.

Silara had to take care of some other guests for the next minutes. There were some wizards discussing about the antarian wood, if it was useful for a potion, she had never heard of. Then there was this couple in their middle ages. The woman was constantly talking about the new gossip in the neighborhood. Her husband had already given up to interrupt her and only nodded sometimes trying to ignore her babbling. At least the wine was excellent at this place. He had already tasted a lot of it. The night went on and some of the guests were already going home. Silara looked at the door, when to men in armor went inside. “Is it already that late, Drevon?”, she asked the blond one. “Did anything happen today?” The man gave her smile back and sat down at a table next to the door. “Nothing special. Old McAllister tried to empty someone’s pockets again. He’ll never learn.” He did let him go after a few hours. This thief was so unlucky, that he didn’t mean any harm to anybody. Drevon and his comrade were part of the towns guards. They were looking after the people her and had to take care of their safety. “We’ll both have a bottle of red wine, before we go home. But you already knew this…” The came here regullary. When Silara saw Drevon she knew, that her job was done soon, because the tavern was closing in a while. She nodded. “I’ll bring you two glasses and something small to eat.” A few minutes later she came back with the wine and some bread with cheese and ham.

Silara went to Kiera and took away the empty plates. “If you wish for anything… we’ll be closing soon for today.” The bill was two Silverling at the moment. That wasn’t very expensive, but not cheap either.

Kiera had sat for quite a while in the tavern, taking her time with her food and drink. She had been listening in on several conversations. Nothing interesting was really being said. She had just pushed away her empty dishes when Silara came back to take them away and told her that the place would be closing soon for the day.

"Okay, thank you." Kiera said with a friendly smile. She had a friendly for just about anyone. Unless they were harming her or someone else. "I think I am good for today." She stood up from her chair and stretched. Now all she had to do was find a place to rest for a little while. Her eyes flickered over to the two guards who had come in moments before as she headed for the door.

The tavern is almost empty now. Silana began to clean some dishes and get the money from the last guests. She looked one last time to the guest, who was just leaving. She had paid a lot. This day had been quite peaceful. Only a butch of scientists, who had been argueing. That happened a lot here. Although there was never somebody harmed. These guys were always so fussed up because of the stuff they read in books. The barmaid couldn't understand half of the things they were talking about.

Nothing really intresting happens while you walk to the door. Outside it's already dark. You are in a big city and the part were you are has some lights on the street, so people get back home safely. Where you are it seems to be peaceful. You didn't find the one, you were searching for today. At the moment you are at the richer part of the city. Were a bed costs as much as the proviant of a whole day and more.

Kiera looked around the street where she was. Yeah, this was a nice part of the town, and somewhere to sleep would cost a lot. She sighed and shook her head. She stayed too long in the tavern, resting her weary feet. Now it was dark and she had to find a cheaper place to stay for the night. She did not want to spend a lot on a room this night. No doubt she would need all the money she could get in the days to come. With a yawn Keira began to walk slowly down the street, her head moving from side to side.

People were already going home for the night, ready for the day to be over. What it must be like, to have a home to go to. Somewhere you could go and just be at peace. That was one thing that sometimes bothered her about her nomadic lifestyle. Most times she loved it, but there were some times when all she wanted was a home of her own, a family of her own. With a grunt Kiera gave herself a little shake. No use thinking of such things now. Right now a place to rest was needed.
