Jiao Long is an NPC. He is here for the purpose of helping your own pieces get promoted if there are not enough active pieces. In a larger capacity, he provides a window into Hong life.
You may ask for a battle or RP any time. Battles will always be considered practice battles unless it is part of a metaplot.

Jiao Long is a city boy through and through. He was born in the upper class district: the Peony Promenade. Being nobility, he carries an air of superiority. Well, more so than any other Hong due to his station. He has a disregard for the comfort, opinions and feelings of those who are not nobility like himself. However, he is not so arrogant and snobbish that he is unwilling to spend time in their company.
When his family pressured him into joining the army like many other noble sons and daughters, he was exposed to people from other walks of life. In order to minimize conflict, he has let go of his airs - for the time being. And only in the company of fellow Hong - he has no issues turning his nose up at a Noir or Blanc.
Before joining the army, he was given free rein over his daily activities and therefore has indulged in many activities. Pranking is his most favorite past time, much to the ire of the household, and it has only amplified since becoming a soldier. This activity causes even greater amusement to him as his genial face (which he takes full advantage of) causes people to trust him. Of course, the downside is also that he hates to be shouldered with responsibility. Even more so because his natural expressions makes many think he is more than happy to serve.
As for how he feels to be a soldier it gets him away the scrutiny of his family, that is for sure. He joined the army at the age of seventeen and hasn't bothered to try rising up the ranks since. As a result, he is what many consider a veteran soldier. He spends much of his time playing pranks on his superiors who are, in terms of experience, actually his juniors.
When he was assigned as part of the guard to the Ambassador to the Chess continent, it was with great relish that he took up the position. He spends much of his time wandering the capitals of both kingdoms and causing general mischief. It's gotten him into quite a few scrapes, Jiao tries to not to cause too much trouble.
Then again, as he never sees reason to explain himself to any Noir or Blanc soldier, it has given him a small reputation as a trouble maker and he is often attacked on sight.
