One Easter Morning I woke to find that my sister was missing. I looked for her everywhere. The Easter baskets were set to the side. The Eggs hidden in the yard we called home. But it was so sad. I didn't know what to do without my sister.

A few Easters ago, my sis Shiro disappeared on me. I really had no idea where she could've gone and it made me very worried. It wasn't like Shiro to just poof like that, but she did. I mean she and I usually spent each day playing together. Being troubled by this I began to wonder if I made her mad in some way. Like any other Easter we would nibble on dandelion greens as a special holiday treat for breakfast, but that Easter it just wasn't the same.
After which, I sat in our usual spot where we marked the start of our egg hunting festivities, but I saw the baskets that had been readied for us laid untouched a few yards away. I nestled down in the grass listening to the ambiance and got lulled off to sleep. By early afternoon I woke up a little lonesome when I noticed that everything had remained untouched.
I was beginning to feel a little frustrated so I got up and walked back to where our den was. Hidden at the base of a cherry tree I sat next to a root gazing up into the blooming branches. It was odd I noticed that there was an unnaturally refraction of sunlight.
Curious, I dug my claws into the pale flesh of the tree trunk and scaled it. When I reached the flattened part of the bulk I tried to locate which branch I had saw the phenomenon. Being all stealth-like, I scurried about looking hill and dale. At certain times I thought I had heard muffled noises.
Suddenly, a branch I had just passed in my survey rustled violently. Startled half to death, I cautiously crept closer and gently brushed aside a smaller branch clear, what I saw was Shiro wrapped up in a Spider's web. When I saw the expression on her face I doubled over with laughter kicking my feet in the air.
She gave me a look of desperation and a certain "Hmph" noise underneath the webbed gag.
A small little spider slinked down and looked at me. "It's about time someone came to get her," it said. "Was wanting my charms, she did."
"Charms?" I asked confusedly.
"Yes, special Omamori* for Easter, dear," the spider replied, holding up a small little envelope tied to a ribbon. "I was making them for my kids... all two hundred and forty-five, and your friend here thought she'd help herself to some." She crossed a couple legs and looked dissatisfied with Shiro.
Wiping a few joyous tears free, "I apologize for my sister. She can be a little, well, scatter-brained at times," I shrugged.
The spider smiled, "Well... finally some manners." She tugged on the web she was connected to and pulled Shiro free in one fell swoop. Shiro fell to the tree with a "Uuff." She stood up and shook herself free of other web filaments.
Disheartened she solemnly came over to me, "I just wanted to make it a special Easter, Kuro," she said sadly.
I hugged her, "Aww.... thanks for trying, Shiro." I smiled at her.
We decided it was a little overdue for us to depart so; I apologized again for Shiro's actions and said our farewells. However, when we got back to our den a small web saying; "It’s on me, girls," with two omamori hanging down from it.
We glanced at each other and after thinking; we shared our holiday spoils with the spider and her offspring.
((*note: omamori is a type of good luck charm in Japan))

Kuro knew Shiro couldnt pass up a good challenge. Definitely not one that involved Easter eggs.... Shiro loved all the colors and excitement of Easter. And to be able to share all of this with her sister. So Shiro headed of in the opposite direction of Kuro, deciding it would be easier to find the most eggs if they werent looking in the same places. She smiled to herself, she could just see herself walking in with at least double the amount of eggs that Kuro had. Suddenly she heard a terrified scream. She rushed out of the trees and towards her sister.
"OMG Kuro, what happened?!"
That was when she saw the tears.
"Oh Kuro, whats wrong? Are you ok? Should I get help?"
"Yes I think I am ok. No need to get help. But it hurts." Kuro began crying again.
"Well Kuro can you tell me at least what happened? Lemme see."
Kuro held out her elbow for her sister to examine. It was scraped, and bleeding a little. And then Shiro saw that Kuro's knee was also bleeding a little.
"How did it happen? Did you just trip?"
"I dont know, I was just walking along and it felt like something grabbed my ankle. Thats when I screamed and the next thing I knew I was on the ground."
"Well I will go look. Stay here and Ill be right back."
Kuro looked a little frightened, but gently nodded her head. "OK."
Shiro walked back the way Kuro had headed earlier. She was a little jumpy, but kept her eyes out for anything that moved. She saw nothing. But kept looking just in case. Then she saw it. She ran all the way back to Kuro.
"Kuro OMG you were right. It almost got me!" She could see the fear building in Kuro's eyes.
"Really what is it?! Is it following you? What do we do?"
Shiro could barely contain her smile as she anwsered.
"Kuro, you wont believe it! It was a.............."
"A what?! Please tell me! Hurry we have to get out of here!" Kuro looked around full of anxiety.
"It was a bush branch!" She couldnt help but giggle at this point. "There is a bush that has one branch that is barely attached and it is floppy. And I can see on the path where you fell. Thats all it was, a branch"
Kuro wasnt sure whether to cry again or throw something at her sister. Sometimes she hated having a sister.
"Oh come on, it was funny...."
"Maybe to you,"Kuro sniffles back the rest of her tears. "but I dont think its funny at all." Then the smallest of smiles crossed her face.
Shiro could see it, she knew she was forgiven. Sometimes she played little tricks on her sister but if something were to happen to her Shiro would be lost forever. No one would ever take the place of her sister.
"Kuro, what do you say we forget worrying about who can find the most and just finish together?"
"Sounds good to me."
They giggled as they headed off together to find the rest of the eggs.
