It had started off like a fairytale. Once upon a time, and all that crap….only they never did make it to the happily ever after. Aponi had long since realized, that that was the worst part of the lie. It was all a lie, but to say that…things ended happily ever after? That was a slap in the face, because things simply never ended well. Things ended. That was it, they just…ended. Because life ended, and then the stallion who had lived so in love with a mare for years was just barely living. Alone…desolate, the ever after was over, it had only really lasted a few short years. It wasn’t really forever. Forever didn’t exist, unless you were talking about heartache and misery. Because that could last forever…and it had.All those years ago, he had met Charlotte. Her lilac hair had been floating in the breeze. He could still remember the long streamers of it flowing out behind her. Each tendril like a strand of silk, but alive and fluid all the time. So bright, so vivid…
And her eyes, the lightest blue that you felt you were looking at the sky in those eyes. Always full of emotion, always so full of dreams. It was amazing to see them shimmer with mischief, or even glisten with tears. But best of all was watching them shine with adoration and love for him, for their life together…Even unto the end.
Shaking it way from himself, he wouldn’t think about that. Not right now. He couldn’t think of it…Instead, he would think of her soft yellow body. So unusually coloured, and so light that it almost seemed to have no colour at all to it. But it was there and when the sun shone brightly, her skin seemed to glow as if it took on a life of it’s own. He remembered as she would frolic in the sun, and press her lips to a dandelion. Blowing away the small thistles until they danced away, at last free. She had said they carried her wishes, and that once they were whispered to them they were free to dance around. And maybe…just maybe they would grant them since she had freed them.
