███ B A T T L E . I T E M S
To help make battles more interesting, random events in the MAIN thread will provide chances for you to grab some items to use while fighting. In addition, spoils of war will also provide ways for pieces to gain items not normally gained in the main thread.
███ Using an item will take one turn. They can not be used in conjunction with an action. ███ All items are one time use only. ███ Please be sure to keep an updated post in your journals of what items you possess. I will also keep a list for my own reference, but I would also like to be able to cross reference things.
███ Item Types 「 Restoration 」 items will replenish stamina in varying degrees. 「 Blessing 」 items buff their targets by increasing certain stats or taking away status effects/add them. 「 Gag 」 items debuff an opponent by causing status effects or reducing certain stats. 「 Bomb 」 items cause direct damage - over time or all at once. 「 Homunculi 」, though not technically items, they are companions in battle. There are several classes, with each Homunculus having a specific function.
To keep track of your items, there is a shared google document you can all edit to ensure you have the correct number of items. Please go to the link below:INVENTORY REFERENCE

███ HOMUNCULI
「 General Homunculi Information 」 Homunculi are special battle companions to help aid you in battle against opponents whom you would be ill-suited to fight on your own. They're incredibly helpful and you should always be on the lookout for one! With that said, there are a few guidelines to remember about homunculi. xxxx One homunculus may only be with you during battle at any time. If you are engaged in multiple battles at the same time, you may use the same homunculus in all of your battles or have a different homunculus for some or all of your battles. xxxx An incapacitated homunculus will be unable to battle until you use enough restorative items to revive it completely. xxxx Battles with multiple opponents will require you to state a target. If you do not specify, the default is the piece that made the very first move. xxxx Battles only end when the piece controlling the homunculus is defeated. The homunculus itself does not need to be defeated. xxxx Certain homunculi may only be used by a specific alignment. Each alignment has certain homunculi it can and cannot use. xxxx There is no limit to how many homunculi a piece can possess. And homunculi are not just restricted to players who own pieces. Anyone can own a homunclus. xxxx All homunculi, unless their abilities state otherwise, are susceptible to status effects.
「 Basic Offense Homunculus 」 It allows you to always attack twice in one turn. Can also double as tank by taking damage for you. xxxx Available to Pawn Ladder Only. xxxx Stats ATK 5; DEF 3; STA 10 xxxx To use, simply treat it as if he were another piece. It attacks and defends in the same way. What damage it cannot take onto itself will be directed back at you.
「 Basic Support Homunculus 」 It gives your piece an extra turn to heal or cure yourself without wasting an attack turn and without having to use an item. They cannot attack. xxxx Available to the Rook ladder only. xxxx Stats Healing Power 6; DEF 3; STA 10 xxxx To heal yourself or your homumculus using it, RNG it's healing power range and what number is randomized is the amount the target was healed. Or, you can use an item and avoid the RNG.
「 Imp Homunculus 」 It allows the piece to attack with a modified damage range. Narrows the attack range to gain harder hits. But, much more fragile than a normal homunculus. Cannot attack, can still defend. xxxx Available to any piece. xxxx Stats ATK 0; DEF 3; STA 8 xxxx While in battle, the Imp cannot attack, but it can still take damage for you. The piece's attack range becomes: min. ATK + [2xTier#] - max ATK. For example, a Tier 1 Blanc piece with a max ATK of 5, would normally RNG 1 - 5. With the Imp, the piece will now RNG 3 - 5. Because: 2 x [Tier 1] = 2. 1 + 2 = 3. Yay, simple math!
「 Beast Homunculus 」 Acts as a tank during battle. When the piece is defending, what damage the piece could not deflect will be directed at the homunculus instead of the piece. Cannot attack or defend. xxxx Available to any piece. xxxx Stats ATK 0; DEF 0; STA 12 xxxx Simply note that the homunculus took damage during the turn.
「 Cactus Homunculus 」 This homunculus has the special ability: Needle Storm. It does not allow your piece to attack twice. It can not use any other type of attack NOR can it defend. It can, however, take damage for you. xxxx Available to any piece but Prophylaxis. xxxx Stats ATK 0; DEF 0; STA 8 xxxx This ability is similar to Prophylaxis' flurry. To use Needle Storm, roll ten 4-sided dice. Each odd number equates to 1 damage dealt to the opponent. Your piece cannot act if this homunculus is taking action.
「 Carp Homunculus 」 Can only be obtained through Metaplot Events. A homunculus version of the item, Lucky Charm. It has the exact same functions as a Lucky Charm with the added ability Mirror. Cannot defend. xxxx Available to all pieces. xxxx Stats ATK 0; DEF 0; STA 10 xxxx Its passive ability is Lucky Charm and is only applicable to the piece itself. Its active ability, Mirror will reflect the opponent's attack (regular and retaliatory) back on it. To use, RNG 1 - 3. A 2 is a success. A 1 or 3 will reflect 1/4 damage. Decimals are to be rounded down. Once Carp's stamina reaches 5 points or below, the ability, Lucky Charm, will cease being in effect for the remainder of the battle.
「 Treemite Homunculus 」 Obtained through random events. This little mite is passive throughout the whole battle. It's only ability is Springtime. Cannot defend or attack. xxxx Available to all pieces. xxxx Stats ATK 0; DEF 0; STA 6 xxxx Springtime every three turns, it will automatically heal its owner 4xTIER #.

███ HOMUNCULI
「 Hit Cat 」 Hit Cat hits once then runs! And when you're confused, Hit Cat Strikes Again! Beware of Hit Cat. This homunculi possesses the ability Hit and Run. Cannot defend or attack. xxxx Available to the Noir pieces only. xxxx Stats ATK 0; DEF 0; STA 8 xxxx The ability, Hit and Run, deals the same amount of damage as its owner. If the owner deals 10 damage, then Hit Cat will also deal 10 damage. However, Hit Cat will disappear for 2 turns to prepare for another sneak attack. Hit Cat is vulnerable to attack after one full turn. Must be used on the attacking turn.

HOMUNCULUS FAQ ███ Are the double attacks allowed to be homonc x2, player x2, or player and homonc? Double attacks are once for player and once for the homunculus only. In addition, Honey Extract cannot be used in battle if you have a homunculus with you.
███ And after the battle, if the homonc is injured, does it stay injured, or does it gain back all it's stamina? The homunculus will stay injured until you make a note in your journal whether you healed it with a restorative like Verdant Leaves or another item.
███ Oh, also, for follow-ups, counter-attacks and such, if you end being unsuccessful (rolled a 1 or 3), does your turn just end, or are you allowed another attack? The player's turn ends, but if the homunculus has not yet made a move, it may take an action.
███ And if successful, does the other attack count as the same turn and you can attack 3 times (counter + attack in same turn, and new turn for another attack) or just 2 attacks? Two attacks. Only.
███ And you can't block counters/returns/follow-ups? They can't be blocked in the sense that the damage is negated. But, if the player doesn't want to take the damage from the opponent's attack, then the homunculus can take it for them. Inversely, the opponent can direct his/her attack at either the player or the homunculus.
███ Can retaliatory attacks be directed at homunculi? Yes, so long as you make it clear that the homunculus is your target.
███ How does a battle end when it involves a player and a homunculus? Once the player's stamina reachs 0, the battle is over regardless of the remaining stamina left in the homunculus.
███ How do you use items when battling with a homunculus? Unless the homunculus itself is allowed to use items, the player must be the one using it. For example, a fighting homunculus may not use items, so the player would have to use it. However, a healing homunculus may use items and thus leaves the player free to attack.
███ Are there certain homunculi for specific alignments? For each alignment, there will be homunculi they can and cannot use. There will also be homunculi that any alignment can use.
███ Does a carp's mirror ability replace a retaliatory attack? No. It is its own separate attack.
███ Does the passive ability "lucky charm" last for the WHOLE battle, or just 3 turns? And can you block/defend against deflected attack? Lucky Charm only lasts as long as the Homunculus is active in battle.
███ And can you block/defend against deflected attack? You can not block deflected attacks at all.
███ Carp's ability can deflect ANY attack (regular AND retaliation), or just regular attacks? And any reflected attacks from mirror CAN'T be defended against? (But you can re-direct attack to homonc if it's sent towards a piece?) MIRROR can deflect both types of attacks. Reflected attacks from Mirror canNOT be defended against but yes, they can be redirected.
███ Can special attacks like, Needlestorm, be defended against? Any special attacks by homunculi can be defend against.
