Quote: I made a comic to go along with my Nuzlocke adventure! You can find them on the Nuzlocke forum, but I will also post them here. Page 01! "Here's Barry!" Page 02! "A Starly's Revenge." I don't how many people know Nuzlocke. I've recently discovered it and I can't get enough. 8D For those who don't know what Nuzlocke is, it's a guy who's made special rules when you play a game so it becomes more challenging. The rules are: -If a Pokemon faints, it's dead. Release it, store it in a box, etc. In other words, you can't use it again (until you finish the game).
-You can only catch the first Pokemon of each new area. So if you enter route 1 and encounter a Patrat, you can only catch that Patrat. No matter that Patrat gets caught, dies or flees, you can't catch anything after that (with exception of Shinies, because that would be too cruel to leave). Some people also made some other rules like no using items but those two are the basic. Quote: My Diamond Nuzlocke Status:Name: Pomelo Badges: 8 E4 Members: 0 Pokemon: -Empoleon (Poseidon) -Roserade (Apollo) -Luxray (Artemis) -Rapidash (Hepheastos) -Girafarig (Leto) -Staraptor (Isis) In box: -Quagsire (Diane) -Medicham (Hermes) Deaths: -Bidoof (Blip) -Shellos (Aphrodite) -Bronzor (Hades) -Juno (Dustox) Quote: My Emerald Nuzlocke Status:Name: Cherimoya Badges: 6 E4 Members: 0 Pokemon: -Blaziken (Callisto) -Altaria (Nereide) -Azurill (Ganymede) -Vibrava (Charon) -Gloom (Iapetus) -Magneton (Metis) In box: -Slakoth (Oberon) (HM Slave) -Makuhita (Deimos) -Whimsur (Rhea) -Poochyena (Pandora) -Numel (Europa) Deaths: -Dustox (Phoebe) -Gloom (Miranda)

Whoa, wait, what? If a pokémon faints, it's dead? Does that mean if my pokémon faints I have to get rid of it? Also what do you mean, "You can only catch the first pokemon of each new area"? The first pokémon you run into? Or what? confused
I've heard of Nuzlocke before, but I've never understood what it was. emo

So pretty much like it's dead. And yep. So let's say you enter route 1 and encounter a Patrat. You can only catch that Patrat. No matter that Patrat gets caught, dies or flees, you can't catch anything after that (with exception of Shinies, because that would be too cruel to leave). It's a bit of a 'hardcore' gaming style. Most people use it on their old games that they're bored with.

I've only ever read the webcomic I'm too much of a wimp to try it on my own, so I live vicariously through Ruby. (It's really funny, the further you get.)

Oh there's loads of comics of people from their own Nuzlocke's. A lot of them are really funny, just like this one. xD I figured I had nothing to lose in Diamond, so why not give it a shot?

So far I'm a girl named Pomelo and my "friend" is called Tofu. He practically forced me to go to the lake and we got attacked by rabid Starly's who probably escaped from some deranged Pokecollector.
I chose a cute little male Piplup who later on I named Poseidon. ;D
Also Lucas dragged me around like an idiot in the next city. I seriously don't feel like I have free will in this game. xD

It is pretty hard to go through Emerald, especially Battle Frontier.

I've heard of it, but never tried it. I think I might though. Maybe on one of my roms and just livestream it if anyone is interested ^_^

I could never do one. I get attached to the little guys, and my pokemon tend to faint a lot. Luck with statuses, getting caught by trainers while running to center... I'd probably lose my whole starting team in ten mins. :[
Buuuut... I'll attempt one if I ever buy white.

Kyuala I've heard of it, but never tried it. I think I might though. Maybe on one of my roms and just livestream it if anyone is interested ^_^ I'd watch! biggrin As for my current Nuzlocke: I've caught a Bidoof named Blip on route 202. However when I fought against those children in the Learning Center the Abra critical hitted and it died. emo First death. I've decided to keep naming my Pokemon after gods, maybe they won't die so fast. xD Caught a Budew named Apollo on route 204 and a Shinx (yes!) on 203. Trained them up. Owned Barry's face. In Oreburgh Gate I encountered a Geodude but my Budew was too zealous and killed it. In Oreburgh mine I caught a Zubat I named Hera. Trained all my Pokemon up and challenged Roarke. Everything was a breeze but my Piplup almost died due to his nasty Cranidos and his pursuit. But Budew took quick care of that annoying thing. And that's where I am. I must say, I'm enjoying myself. Pokemon where I would've said meh to suddenly seem a lot more precious at the face of death.

My
Nuzlocke Emerald stats: Badges: 7 (Blame Juan) Pokemon: 3 (Sceptile, Altaria, Gyarados) Deaths: 50+ (Too many, lazy to count.)
Nuzlocke Platinum stats: Badges: 6 (Blaming again) Pokemon: 4 (Infernape, Luxray, Staraptor, Floatzel) Deaths: 16 (....)
Well, the games earlier are pretty much harder than the new games. I think.

Well, the games earlier are pretty much harder than the new games. I think. I have to agree, it seems they made the games friendlier for the newbies. Only 3 Pokemon on emerald? Looks like ya gotta catch some more (or did you fuse up all your routes and areas?) I predict a mass amount of deaths for me as well. Sometimes I'm just so reckless. However I do have a Shinx I'm rather keen on keeping. :3
