Questions Gathered by the lovely Nikiana. <3 Give her a hand if you see her!
Ask questions in the main thread. I won't see them here.
Q: If I don't win a CYOA, do I get a refund?
A: No. CYOA are Checkmate's version of a raffle.
Q: I signed up for the CYOA, but missed it because of [insert reason here]. Can I get a refund??
A: Yes, but you'll have to request it. I won't remember.
Q: Is there a form to sign up for a CYOA?
A: Forms are over-rated. = 3=b Just send me a trade title CYOA and I'll get your drift.
Q: I want a Prophylaxis character!!
A: Prophylaxis alignment won't be offered until the first plot event. You are allowed to change to Prophylaxis, but only during events.
Q: How many pieces can a player have?
A: As many as you can handle! C: After your first piece becomes a Tier 2 or higher, you can begin obtaining as many as you want.
Q: What weapon does my character have?
A: All Blanc pawns start out with short swords and all Noir pawns start out with double bladed daggers. Blanc rooks have axes and Noir rooks have scimitars. <: Soldiers have spears.
Q: Can characters on the same side do a practice battle?
A: Practice battles are okay with me, but you won't get the item prizes at the end because they're meant to be 'spoils of war' so to speak.
Q: About how old would you say the pieces should be?
A: Enlistment/recruitment typically begins at the age 17 and soldiers aged 40 or older must take on an adviser or teaching position. Or retire completely. Officially, anyway. Some soldiers lie about their age.
Q: Will customs be available at some point?
A: Customs are unknown at this point. And they will be only Tier one pieces when I eventually decide. So it can't be a way to skip to Tier 2/etc.
Q: Will there be breeding eventually?
A: Breeding. Probably through apprenticeships or adoptions as I don't think I'll allow more than one 'offspring' per pair. And then I shall figure out the specifics when the time comes.
Q: My piece is ready for a promotion... now what?!
A: When your piece is ready to be promoted, simply post in the Promotion request thread in the guild.
Q: Are the characters from opposing kingdoms allowed to interact with one another without having to be hostile?
A: Yees, totally. If you can figure out a situation in which it would make sense. Go for it. The area around Prophylaxis is considered neutral and there are some neutral villages (that I have yet to post about) that you can use as a setting.
Q: Does a journal have to be completed on the front page before one can battle?
A: Nope!
Q: Can I have characters from different alignments?
A: Yup!
Q: Will my second piece need to be tier 2 before I try for a third?
A: Nope. Only your first piece.
Q: Do we get rewards from battling if we end up progressing thanks to journal entries/RP?
A: Rewards can only be consistently gained through battles. C: RP/Journal entries give you more control over your character's appearance, development. However, you can go down both paths if you wish and gain the benefits of both.
Q: Will there ever, maybe, be a renegade faction? Or would that be more likely to fit Prophylaxis? Can characters defect to other sides? Or just abandon all sides and be rogue?
A: As of right now, the closest renegade faction would be Prophylaxis, but they are more pacifistic than a real renegade faction would be. However, as the overarching plot begins to move, they may become more active.
As of right now, characters will only have the chance to defect to other sides during plot events. And only then if an event in the character's development causes their beliefs to change radically. Becoming a rogue is unlikely as the character's role in the shop would become virtually useless. There won't be anything for them to do. We would have to see how the plot progresses. We may have a rebel faction, we may not.
Q: Is the chat room even canon rp?
A: Chat room is not canon, because you can meet pieces from other kingdoms that you normally wouldn't it canon.
Q: Will pets ever be made?
A: Probably not. Unless your piece gets a desk job and has the time to spend on the pet. And then your piece won't have much to do.
Q: Are all Hong ambassadors?
A: Hong in the Blanc and Noir kingdoms are representatives of the Hong empire. Their actions speak for their country. Of course, the actual ambassadors the soldiers are protecting are the real mouth pieces. Hong society is much more collective minded than Blanc or Noir. They're very much bound to their country and family so their behavior must be of a standard that is respectable so their family/country doesn't lose face.
Q: Oh, speaking of, how does inventory change affect battles? Will the items I won now appear in my inv for the battle I'm in?
A: Yes, the moment you've updated your inventory or won the item, you can use the item in whatever battle you're currently in.
