Earth, Water, Fire, and Air: Quest for the Djinni

User Image

Story
In the land of Tir'Na'Lugh, elemental creatures known as the Djinn have been disappearing. Once abundant, they now have become scarce even unto the very cores of their homes: deserts and volcanoes of fire, oceans and lake of water, forests and jungles of earth, and even the high mountains that touch the sky. Seen this as an ominous omen, the Great Mages of Sol Sanctum in Vale are troubled by the signs. As the Djinn recede, foul creatures take their place. Desperate to restore the land and the Djinni, the Great Mages have decided to send the Adepts and select members of the Serrabi clan to protect them, in the Sky Mist Forest, hoping their innocence would help them find one of the elusive Djinni, and help them on their quest of restoration.

Characters

Adepts: (Late teens onward: 17-)
Human, but with pointed ears, and in the palm of their hands are smooth, rounded circles of flesh that are silver and shimmer the spectrum of color in light or while controlling their element.

Adepts wield the forces of the elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air. Each Adept has one unique element that is theirs. To become a greater master of their element, they must find Djinni of that same element, making them stronger, and add to their skill. (Ex: Water- Add Djiin, and get stronger controlling water, and also gain ability to create and control ice.) When you have Djinn, you can Summon them. The more you have of that element, the stronger the Elemental Summon (Think of Aeons/Espers/Guardian Forces). If you get a Djinn of a different type, then you gain basic abilities of that element.
*-Djinn-* Djinn are intelligent creatures, they speak and have personalities. Where one might happily join you, another will fight. When you have a Djinn, they are like a companion to you, so let your imagination run wild on their character and names.

Serrabi Clan
- (Should be at least age 27)
Human completely in appearance.

These people live among the people in Vale. Although they are not Adepts themselves, they believe it to be their duty to help them. Originally, they accompanied the Adepts on their journeys to master the elements, keeping the young adults safe in the wide and dangerous world that may exploit their powers for selfish reasons. Serrabi clam memebers are like mentors. Now, they will accompany the Adepts to Sky Mist Forest in search of the elusive Djinni to question and find answers to this ominous puzzle.

Both have access to wield weapons such as swords, bows, staves, and others. If lucky, Adepts can find or buy weapons with powers that help boost their control. Same with armor.

Brief Attack Guide
User Image Venus/Earth: Gain Djinni and gradually learn how to create earthquakes, earth or rock spires, damaging thorny vines and eventually some healing properties.

User Image Mercury/Water: Gain Djinni and learn better contol of the flow of water, as well as creating ice to freeze, and spear opponents with large icicles and eventually some healing ability.

User Image Mars/Fire: Gain Djinni and learn better control of the difficult element of fire. Create flames, fireballs, and explosions, even make firewalls later on.

User Image Jupiter/Air: Gain Djinni and command the gusts and gales. Create whirlwinds, furious tornadoes, and as the wind control increase, then command lightning and magnetic storms.

Sjena sat on a stump and stared at the grasslands beyond the village. The wind blew, rustling the trees nearby. For days ow simething perplexed and concerned her. She was becoming frustrated that she did not know what.

"Am I the only one who feels this strange imbalance in the world?" the wind lifted her ebony-colored hair. If only it could the same to her worries.

Sjena stood and decided to walk. Perhaps she could clear her head with a little bit of exercise. She noticed much of the village's youth, playing as the day went by. Some noticed her as well and ceased their simple fun. She was a feared and respected woman among the younger crowd, since she had been their mentor. She kind of liked it, though it created the image of a tough teacher among the young ones.

Sjena-Kalaloo turned to one and smiled. The little boy froze but slowly cracked a smile for her. She giggled and continued her walk. Suddenly, the Square's bell went off. She followed the gathering crowd to see what was going on.

Continuing her rythmic flow of her hands, the light purple glitter dust from the use of her magic twinkled on the breeze in swirls, making the town bell ring it's clear melody amidst the sparkle. It gave it the appearance of being ethereal, though it was simply made of iron, and old at that.

Occasionally Deirdre glanced up from her bell-ringing, checking to make sure the village came to hear her news, however grim it was. Familiar faces peeked up at her. Old friends, teachers, neighbors, and the children of the younger generation as well as those of the older generation, all made their way around the Main Square of Vale.

Slight mummuring could be heard amongst the townfolk. Many chatted and caught up on the latest gossip or news from the next nearest town. Others speculated on what this anouncement would be about. A few of the children grew bored with just waiting, and went off towards the edge and began a game of tag. Squeals and giggles could be heard as they had their fun while those who were older talked to one another, waiting.

She kept up her ringing, seeing that there was still quite a few missing from the Square yet, tapping a little deeper into the inner winds she made the bell ring louder, insistantly calling the people to listen to the important news.

"Why if it isn't Noah." said Sjena without even looking at him, "How long has it been? Three, four years perhaps? Still as hot-headed as I remember." she smirked.

The first strike. Maverik parried it away and whacked his first foe with his wooden sword against the leg. The foe shouted and went to one knee, hanging his head in defeat. The three other foes rushed him - one with a thrusting attack. Maverik lept on the thrusting sword and smacked the head of the boy opposite from him. Then he flipped over the boy who held his platform up and whacked his back. The third took advantage of him being in mid-strike and tried to slash Maverik. Maverik heard the wind's small shout in his ears and went from his attack to a side-swiping parry. Then he wiped the wooden sword across the boy's cheek and sent him to the ground.

He slopped and looked at all of the fallen students. One of the sword's metal shine gleamed in his face. He dropped his wooden sword to the ground and went off back inside to let the students recooperate. His hand was on the handle just as he heard the bell coming from the town square. He looked up - its sounds being quite familiar. He opened his door and grabbed his sword and belt. he put them both on and headed to the square. He stopped just outside the ring of the growing crowd and watched.

Velah eased back in her chair. She'd been sitting in her home, alone with Kaska. As usual, they'd been talking. Velah had been munching on snacks, Kaska scarfing down morsel after morsel.

As the town bell caught their ears, Velah looked up and sighed. "What news now, I wonder." She looked to Kaska.

"Must be important, they wouldn't have rung the bell otherwise."

"Yes..." Velah rose and stretched, Kaska jumping across the table into her arms. "Lets go then." As they headed out the door, both grew silent, observing all around them as they headed to the square, blending in with the gathered people, making their way closer to the front.

Noah paused for a moment as Flint went through the crowd and disapeared from sight. "Hey Sjena nice day isnt it? I wonder what they want with the bell and all...anyways I must find Flint I'll see ya later ok?" he said and quickly took off into the crow disregarding the statement she made about his temper a littler while ago.

"Excuse me, pardon me...." Noah wiggled his way through the crowd as they tried to focus on Flint's energy signal. "Flint! where are you!? get back here right now you little elemental buggar!" he shouted making a few people stare at him "Excuse me..." he said and he pushed pass Velah, quickly noticing she had a fire djinni with her. Heh another one...I thought I never see a fire djinni... he thought as he made his way to the front.

"Now where did he go..." he muttered as he scanned the area infront of him. I can sense the little guy but he's hiding pretty good...I'll get him... Noah sighed as he placed his hands in his pockets. Might as well hear what's so important first...

The final resonating BONG of the bell echoed across the square as Deirdre stilled the air around it. She had all the village here now, most of them patiently waiting on her announcement.

Slowly she turned around to face the crowd, tensing once she saw them all raise their eyes to her. She hated publicity, she hated it with a whirling vortex of passion. All these people looked up to her, and here she was, on the verge of giving them the first tidings of the coming apocalypse.

She sent a scared look to Squall, who simply nudged the scroll of paper to her hands, then flew to perch on her shoulders. Looking no less scared than before, she looked down to the small scroll that held words that she wished no person should ever have to say.

Taking a shuddering breath to steady her nerves, she opened the scroll and began to read.

"People of Vale... the Mages here have found something.... " she paused, fearful to continue. Sighing slightly, she began again, "The mages have seen a great catastrophe fast apporoaching... The Djinni are becoming scarer by the day, and with Squall's information, we've recently found that they are dying... along with the earth itself." Giving Squall a look, she paused just for a moment enough to let that sink in, but started again before the crowd could talk over her.

"However! Please do not despair! THe Mages have a plan that will help to restore the earth... but they will need the help of these individuals... Maverick Serrabi, Noah Kai, Velah, Sjena-Kalaloo Serrabi... please follow me to the Mage's hut for furthur instructions... Thank you for your time... everyone..." Once she had finished, she rolled up the scroll and tried to scurry away, wanting the flee from the undivided attention.

That was the scariest moment of my life... she thought, trying to push through the crowds while their disbelief began to form words... words that got louder and holding a hint of fear in them. But if I... we.. fail... that will be much scarier than this...

Kaska watched Noah as he pushed past them. When his eyes connected with the little elemental, it simply stared. When Noah had passed, Kaska turned its eyes up to Velah.

"Lets follow that one..." Velah could sense the tingle in Kaska's tone, noticing the glint in the elemental's eyes.

"No..." Velah replied. "I'd rather not start a chase around the square. Relax Kaska. When we've heard the announcement I'll let you spend some energy."

"Oh come on!" Kaska was getting rather edgy and excited. "Let me have some fun for just a minute! They haven't started the announcement right now anyway!"

"Kaska... I really don't want to have to detain you or anyone you anger," Velah sighed.

"Hey! What's that suppose to mean?!" Kaska shouted. As the Djinni's excitement and tone rose, so did the glimmer and shine in its eyes. At this point the people around them were glancing at the Djinni.

"Kaska!" Velah hissed. "Not now."

Kaska openned its mouth to say one more thing, but immediately silenced with one look from Velah's stern eyes.

"Calm yourself Kaska." Velah turned her attention back to the woman next to the bell. She was close to the front of the croud by now and the last chime sounded. As the croud hushed Kaska seemed to regain composure and calm considerably. Two sets of curious eyes stared up at the woman and the air Djinni on her shoulder. Kaska squirmed slightly, wanting to go say hello to the other Djinni. Velah, however, kept a tight but gentle hold on the little fire Djinni and eventually Kaska stilled again.

Sjena noticed the constant murmuring of those around her. Some stared at her, wondering why she was chosen. She, herself, began to wonder as well.

"At least now you know why things have felt strange now. Still though why me? I am just a teacher." her emotionless expression did not change as she pondered further. A child tugged on her dress. She looked down. It was one of her students younger siblings. The little girl while holding her plush toy, "What's wrong with de djinni? Are dey sick?" she asked. She gave the child a sad smile and rubbed her hair. Sjena knelt down beside the child and said to her softly, "I don't know but I will found, okay?" the child simply nodded and Sjena followed Deirdre.
