Do you associate any specific deities with the season you are currently in? It's spring here so I think of Idun and also of Persephone/Demeter. I would also think of Hathor in someways to me as the spring is the birth of the new life for the year and Hathor is a mother goddess in some respects. I also associate the season with female cows.

Considering that several pantheons have actual gods/goddesses of the seasons, I'm sure people do.

Well yes. However I was thinking more along the lines of why you associate them.

Well, me being Atheist, I don't associate any deities with the seasons because I am of the opinion that deities do not exist.

Ok I can respect that. I knew that as well. I can't say I understand it because I have never taken the time to ponder the possibility that Gods might not exist. I just never felt that the existence of any Gods was in question. I just have always "known" in my heart...

I believe and Gods and I have experienced Gods, however I acknowledge the scientific reality that it could all be psychological and not an external being. Regardless I live with the faith and personal experience that they exist. I figure that so long as people don't try and force me to disband my beliefs about deities and I dont force it on anyone else there is nothing wrong.

Being that you do not believe in deities, are there any specific symbols or things you associate with spring? Does spring have any specific "feeling" to you as in is your attitude any different toward spring than any other season?

Considering it's spring now; hard to say. There are four deities in my pantheon that are associated with winter, and then there's Suvetar for summer, but I have no idea about deities of spring or fall. Maybe Pekko and Äkräs. They are both associated with fields, crops and growing, and those have a lot to do with spring in my mind.

Other than those, there's Päivätär, a goddess of sun and day, and although she'd be more a deity of summer than spring, I do associate her with spring, too. Mostly because at this time of the year it's finally getting warm and sunny and the days are becoming longer, and all in all, the sun is a big part of spring to me.
