Odyssey leaned on the counter this time the certificate, and item was laid out before her. The item was a small crystal prism which she seemed to have taken the habit of talking to. Obviously the blonde was waiting on someone to enter the shop, a very important someone.

She dearly hoped that the person coming to pick up the prism would take good care of it.

A small woman wandered the streets of Gaia as she looked frantically for a certain little shop. She was going to be late and she knew that everything would be ready waiting for her. Oh why had she left the house so late? It wouldn't have mattered what she was wearing.

Her breath was growing short and she began to take deep breaths as she slowed down. She arched over and held her knees, panting loudly. She had been up and down the strip of shops and she still hadn't been able to find the building she had been looking for.

She was close to giving up and rescheduling, but as she stood up to walk away she saw the shop with a banner of a pink heart that read 'Xanthaian Internal Affairs.'

With a gleeful exclaimation the dark haired college student ran into the building and hurriedly said, "I'm so sorry I'm late. I was having trouble trying to decide what I wanted to wear though that may not have mattered since its a bit odd in trying to impress an inanimate object. And then I was running up and down the street trying to find the shop. I almost gave up, but then BAM! I saw it right there in front of me. So yeah, here I am!"

Odyssey gave a good natured laugh as Paetrisah entered and shook her head, "No worries, glad you made it, Ms. Paetrisah, right?" She had mistaken people before, but hopefully this wasn't one of those times. She waved Paetrisah toward the counter, "It is a little silly, but you look nice today if that means anything. I am suitably impressed." The blonde giggled airily.

"Want a drink or something before we talk over stuff?" She idly straightened up to where she was standing upright again with a decent posture.

"Oh yes, I would love a cup of green tea with two drops of honey if you could." The girl flashed Odyssey a friendly smile.

She looked around the shop. There were shelves with simple everyday objects to things from out of the ordinary. She wondered about what the stories were for those objects. Would it be a woeful tale like Romeo and Juliet or of revenge like Hamlet? Her curiousity was peaked.

Then her blue-silver eyes were directed at the prism sitting at the counter. She took a step closer and leaned forward to get a better glance. The object was as normal as a prism could be, shedding shards of colors across the counter every time a ray of light enter.

Her natural reaction would have been distaste for she wasn't too fond of things too colorful, but it wasn't the item itself that was colorful, just its reflection. She frowned to think what the history of the prism could be...

Odssey nodded and went toward the back and prepared the tea for Paetrisah. The girl apparently needn't have waited long as soon Odyssey came flouncing out with a nice cup of green tea made to the specification Paetrisah asked.

"Here you are! Now, have you any questions?" She placed the cup on the counter in front of the other female and dusted off her hands a bit, "I'll try to answer them the best I can."

Not much was known about the items around, but they surely tested Odyssey's resolve, as she was often tempted to just stare at them for long moments at a time.

She took the cup of tea in her hands and sipped at it. Paetrisah then looked up with a smile of content, "Thank you." And then placed the cup on the table in front of her once more.

For a few seconds she stared at her hands and thought about whether or not she should ask, but she was so curious. She just had to know! Taking a breath, the young woman looked at Odyssey and asked, "I'm not sure if you can answer it, but what is the history behind the Prism that I will be taking guardianship of?"

She had no questions on the item itself. She remembered having it explained several times over the phone. It had been explained that the prism wasn't just a mere object, but that it contained the soul of a human being from the land of Xanth, a realm of magic. She knew that when the time came that the item would become a child for her to care for, but she enjoyed learning the history of people and objects. Everything and everyone had a story, though not all may be exciting or tragic, she was still curious to know.

Odyssey paused a moment, she had almost feared that question would come up. How could she answer it? Truthfully? Say nothing? Lying often hurt people, and Oddy definately didn't want to do that to anyone or anything, and so she let out a deep sigh and nodded, "She...she was my friend, and well, I was selfish and wanted her to come to Gaia with me. Working here all alone with nothing but a grumpy little man for company ... Well, you will see what I mean when he gets out here. Anyhow, we had a fight and then we made up on one of my trips back to Xanth and I got her to come to Gaia. I forgot that the potion sort of makes her forget various parts of her life, like me being her friend.

"Anyhow! She lost her mom at a young age, and had a father that loved her and cared for her. No matter what happened to her she always bounced back. She was a very resilient and determined person, also a very loyal friend." Oddy looked down for a moment and then looked back up at Paetrisah, "And, if she doesn't remember me for a while, that's okay, because I want her to have a good life full of memories with you and the family you bring her in to." The blonde beamed happily, "Hopefully she'll have lots of friends in this life."

Paetrisah nodded silently. It was a bit of tragic tale, but not one that couldn't end with a happy ending. The soul within the Prism would have a second chance and so would Odyssey.

"Well, if she doesn't remember you, she can always still become friends with you again." She smiled warmly at the blonde woman.

She then looked curiously at the other woman, "So who is this partner of your's?"

The dark haired woman was tempted to jump up and grab the prism. She had waited so long, but she knew that the things that one waits for are the things that are more worth while in life. So she would wait, even if it killed her... though she hoped it wouldn't.

Odyssey blushed and giggled, "We will see what happens! You can hold the prism if you want. I am not sure if items are sentient or not, but if they were I am sure she'd like to be held."

She was asked about Humfrey Two, and what nice things could she say about him? Who knew, Odyssey appreciated the grumpy little man, but on some days she could strangle him too, "Humfrey Two? He helps with creating the journals so you can keep track of events and things with your child's life. Humfrey Two also keeps me organized and in check." Odyssey figured that'd be a good enough answer.

The woman nodded her head at Odyssey's answer. She smiled and walked over to the prism and picked it up. She held it up to light causing rainbow colors to spill into the room. Paetrisah turned towards the blonde woman and sat back down.

"So when can I take this little girl back home with me?"

Odyssey thought on that a moment and glanced behind herself, "As soon as you give me a name for your child and Humfrey Two gets me your journal. Unless you have more questions."

As if summoned by name Humfrey Two hobbled out of the backroom. Short, gnomish, and looking as ill tempered as a cat that found itself stuck in the rain with no cover at all, "M'ears are burnin'." He growled lowly peering at Odyssey. He moved to the counter and placed the book on the counter with a soft thud, "I know I'm interesting topic of conversation, but still...Eh, ne'ermind I got work t'do. Oddy y'can explain the journal thing to 'er, if needed." With that he turned and hobbled back to the back of the shop grumbling. He wasn't as fiesty as usual, perhaps it was the weather?

Odyssey raised an eyebrow and shrugged, "He's always like that. Don't take it too personally!"

Paetrisah shook her head, sending dark locks flying, with a smile. She had her own grumpy days and those days... were many since she wasn't quite a morning person, she was more of a night owl. So she could understand where Humfrey Two might be coming from

"Its quite alright. I don't believe I have any more questions. You were quite thorough about the adoption process over the phone." Paetrisah gave an apologetic smile. She remembered how she had kept the poor woman on the phone for hours until she had full understanding and until she could accept the fact that there was magic, not too mention an entire land of magic.

"I have the perfect name. Aphrael. Its a name from a novel I read. The little girl was so charming! She could make everyone and anyone hold her and she loved giving kisses. It just seemed so perfect!" The young woman was glowing as she spoke.

Odyssey giggled and signed that on the certificate and tucked into the journal and moved the book toward Paetrisah so she may pick it up, "Alright then, as I have said before, just watch the journal for any changes. When we have the other potion ready the journal will send you a message to let you know!"

It was true that she had described most of how the journal worked through the phone, and she honestly didn't mind going through it with her on the phone several times to make sure Paetrisah understood what happened.

Humfrey Two of course toned it out as useless woman prattle.

Paetrisah slipped the journal under her arm and smiled happily. The adoption process was complete. She was taking home a little girl though it may be a prism at the moment. There was so much she wanted to do for the little girl and preperations left undone.

"Thank you. I'll make sure to write in the journal dutiful and to take good care of her."

With all said and done she walked out of the shop and started for home. But not too far along she remembered something she hadn't asked on the phone. She hoped that Odyssey had the answer and ran back into the shop.

As she bursted through the entrance, she asked breathlessly, "I'm sorry, but I forgot to ask you about how I should take care of Aphrael as a prism. I know asked you about her when she would be a baby and in human form but I must of blanked out. Should I polish her? Should I read to her? Leave her in the sunlight or any light source so she can shed her rainbow colors? Should she placed anywhere or in something in particular?"

The questions spilled from her lips. How could she have forgotten to ask such important questions. She must have been too excited, she would need to be careful and try to restrain her excitement from now on.

Odyssey giggled a bit and seemed to consider the questions thrown at her, "Well, I suggest just making sure nothing cracks or chips. As far as polishing and such go, I'd do that if I were you. Tarnish and the like might give her some unfavorable qualities. Though keep in mind not to polish too much as the prism may become rounded and you will end up with a rather circular child. Then again that is only a guess on my part. Anything that physically happens to the item affects the child it will form into."

"Other than that, nothing special needs be done, maybe put her in a lightsource every now and then, but I am not sure if it is going to affect her any...She liked to be useful though. Rainbows are a good way to cheer one up on a hard day." Odyssey giggled a bit, "And by the way, you picked a beautiful name for her. If that is all then?"
