This is my fourth season of Winter Colorguard and I've never had a problem with nervousness until this year. And considering that I am one of the main leaders of my guard and how I feel affects how the rest of the guard preforms or acts it is kind of important that I not freak out that much. So I was wondering if maybe anybody knew any ideas on a way to maybe get over this nervousness, or if maybe someone knew why I am suddenly experiencing these nerves. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Everyone gets nervous for different reasons. For me, it's because I overthink what I already know I know and can do. Maybe you need to just reassure yourself. You're probably trying to think about too much all at once, trying to tell yourself people rely on you and it makes it worse.

hmm... that makes sense. There has been tons on my mind right now, especially with home show weekend coming up and were doing all these extra things for it.

i don't really have an issue with nerves.
well before my first performance ever, i was a little scared....but it was over instantly and i cried because i messed up during my favourite song so my sax friend bought me ice cream. XD
my first spring show was weird too.....i wasn't nervous....but like odd feeling. o___O
i'm sure i'll be nervous as hell come the day of the parade that i and tigerish are marching in........

Oh and the nervousness thingy...Before my first competition I started hyperventilating and my coach had to comfort me sweatdrop But I get better when we start performing because it's just like any other rehearsal ^^ Except during the show when I'm freaking out about messing up one little move before I even do it and end up messing something else up from that worry gonk

except i had to force the whole huge snickers bar in my mouth and i was like drowning in caramel and peanuts. XD sara p's mom laughed at me. **sweatdrop**
and don't tell me you wont be a little nervous before the parade! just because we've got a toss and angle restriction doesn't mean it will be no sweat, dudeman!

I've never really had a problem with nerves. I guess its because I know the work, and I know I know the work, so I shouldn't mess up. And if I do mess up its because I'm not focusing. Nerves are for sissies! (Not really XD )

well i get nervous thats for sure. i don't even know why. i knowit and everything but it's like ahhh i need to relax but i don' t know what to do to do that. well hopefully it will get better

same here ^^ i don't really get nervous when it comes to shows. Since my other guardies are with me I don't mind performing because they we're all in it together! guard really brings people together huh? sweatdrop
