He can handle a wide range of weapons from a small calibre handgun to a fully automatic machine gun or even a high power sniper rifle. He has basic medical knowledge which enables him to patch himself or others up when needed. He has also received training in hand to hand combat and melee weapons, this close combat training has saved his life on more than one occasion and has lead him to become particularly fond of his combat knife.
Personality: Derek is a very caring and protective person, he's quick to put someone at ease and lighten the mood when things get serious. He's always the first person in and the last person out, refusing to leave anyone behind. He is also prone to jumping into danger head-first; this is especially true if someone is in danger. He enjoys nothing more than taking out a few of the undead with his trust sniper rifle.
Biography: Derek used to work for Umbrella up until they abandoned him in the midst of the chaos that was Raccoon city. Before they had gone on the mission to eliminate the infected in Raccoon City he had stumbled upon some of Umbrellas plans. Horrified, Derek was planning on using the information he had found to shut the Corporation down and out them to the world. But somehow Umbrella had found out what he was planning and ordered for him to be killed before he could reveal their secrets. They left Derek for dead in the nightmare that was Raccoon City; sure that he would not survive the hordes of undead. But thanks to his training and quick thinking Derek managed to survive the chaos and escape the doomed City. Since then Derek has considered himself freelance and has been trying to bring down the Corporation before they do any more harm.
Weapons: Dragunov SVD Sniper rifle, 2 Beretta 92F's and an MP5 along with a Combat Knife and also a small dagger concealed in his boot.
