//History// Kiku was born to the countryside. Her family was still rather well to-do, however. Her father is a merchant, but her mother is nobility. Her mother's father was a rather high up noble in the city, but her mother was his seventh daughter, and therefore worthy of only being married to a country merchant. Kiku has six sisters and four brothers, of whom she is the youngest. Among other things, this makes her the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter. To the wizened countryfolk...this makes her lucky.
She joined the army to make her parents proud, and to further her own station in life. She still feels herself as nobility and worthy of rubbing elbows with the Empress...and she's out to prove it! Not to mention she's probably the only seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, and her beauty outshines all but the Empress. But it's not all fun and games. Kiku knew from a young age she'd have to rely on more than looks to make it ahead and life. And so she studied the great generals and the not-so-great generals and the women and men behind them. She played mind games and made up mind games for her siblings, and constantly analyzed everything around her.
Now that she's in the army, she's mostly concerned with advancement. She's going to go as high as she can and as far as she needs to go to get there, and no one is going to stand in her way. It is for this reason she readily goes into the field, and what she thinks is bravery her superiors feel is brazen recklessness.
Naturally, when they offered her the chance to be an Ambassador, she seized the chance. She has been spending the past year making connections in both capitols and rising in the social ranks. No one in the Chess continent really knows what to think of her, since her brains don't match her beauty. They cannot easily tell what she means by what she says, and this causes them some concern. However, she easily assuages it with her silver tongue.
