Lesson Nine - Flight Work Continued
Dragons size - Seventy-five percent adult size

The ramp was now packed away until the next clutches hatchlings reached the age they should be flying. Two months since they're first flights together and the weyrlings were now capable of taking off and landing without the ramp. They were coming along wonderfully and now it was time for them to be assessed. There would be a set of races today to encourage the pairs to do their best.

The two courses were set up side by side. First was the course for speed and stamina and second was the agility course. The first track was a straight line, the second was a series of flags set in a zigzag pattern. All the races were going to be done by colour and then then the best brown and bronze would go against each other and the best green and blue would go against each other. Kila also liked to mix it up by opening up races for the older dragons to go against each other. These though were divided by colour and it was the riders choice which races they took part in.

"Morning all." Kila beamed in genuine enjoyment at her class. This was one of her favourite lessons. "Now I have seen some of you and your dragons race against each other before but this is a little different. One, there is to be no cheating, you and your dragon fly straight; no cutting other pairs off. Second you'll be doing this in groups against others of the same colours, the best of each colour will then take on another colours champion to decide the fastest, longest lasting and most agile in the group. Nasath and Keokie, as there is only one gold you're in with the bronzes." It seemed a simple enough explanation

"First up are the greens on the speed course. Green pairs line up, mount and get ready to take off." Kila walked to the starting line and waited for the weyrlings to get ready. Dotted about were weyrfolk and 'riders ready to watch the event. At the finishing line of the track there were people to see who reached the end first.

------------------------------------

Now this lesson is gonna be a little different. I like to think of it like the Weyr's school sports day. Firstly at the end there will be a chance for older riders to have a little fun too and second is the way it's laid out. Every post where a race starts I will roll a number of dice equal to the number of dragons in that race, in that same post I will list the dragons in the race by number. The number is which dice is that dragons score in that race. The dragon with the highest number is the winner counting down. If two dragons have the same number then they tie.
For example:

Speed Race
1. Oneth
2. Twoth
3. Threeth

Dice Rolls
7,7,11

So Threeth came first, Oneth and Twoth tied for second place.
In your first post in the topic I want you to post which dragons will be taking part. The weyrlings are expected to take part in every race, the older dragons it is entirely your choice.

"That's us!" Neri said cheerfully, leading Alloth to the start line. When they arrived at the start, Neri took a moment to give Alloth a pep-talk,

"Now listen, Alloth. It doesn't matter one drop if you win or not, you understand me? It's all about learning and taking part. I'll be equally happy if you win or lose. I just want you to try."
Alright, Neri. I will try.
Neri smiled and rubbed her eye ridges fondly. "That's my girl." she said proudly.

Alloth bent her neck and offered Neri her leg to get up, and Neri climbed on. She looked down the line of fellow green riders and waved, calling goodluck to anyone she knew. Neri was a competitive person herself, but right now she felt no desire to win. As long as Alloth managed to join in without trouble, they won no matter what.

~~~
Meanwhile, Jeska stood on the sidelines, watching the riders line up for the race. She had her pouch of medical supplies ready by her side in case any of the weyrlings fell or hurt themselves, but she was mostly there to watch. Older riders and other weyrfolk gathered by the side of the course to watch the race. As the grass filled up in front of her, Jess stood on her toes and strained her neck to see. She was a little farther back than she wanted, and couldn't wait until the dragons got into the air, so she could see what was going on!
((Since none of you posted, by default Alloth wins the green race. Go Alloth! Druid if you want to make a post of Alloth beating all the other greens in her group, since they did have to race, you can. Same goes for other green players if they want to post not winning.))
The greens lined up and Kila raised her arm and Camarith behind her opened his wings. "Go!" She called out, followed by Camarith's load roar to signal the beginning.
-----------
As the green race ended and Alloth was pronounced the winner, earning calls of congratulations from both humans and dragons Kila signalled for the blue's to take their position for their race.
