This is a question I asked in my college speech class in the beginning. We were to ask each other a battery of questions (where they came from, a unique fact, etc.), then we were to ask a unique question of everyone. I chose "How far would you go to obtain power?" I didn't place a limit on the power (a leadership position, money, etc.), so be honest... are we all law-abiding citizens, or are we willing to resort to less scrupulous means to get what we desire? Be honest and elaborate why you want the power and specify how far you would go to get it!

This does lay in the realm of the hypothetical, I grant it that. Psychology is fun, but I don't need guinea pigs for a psychology paper... I just like to hear other people's opinions and beliefs!

Ok well lets look at Hitler, he stopped at nothing to gain power. He murdered friends, enemies, and attempted to wipe out several races of human beings. Would I murder 18 innocent members of another person's family to gain that kind of power? NO because to this day we still grieve the 18 members of our family who never stood a chance against the greatest evil the world has seen in modern times. People will walk on each other, they will be ruthless, they will even kill for money which is a form of power. Power begets the desire for more and more, there can never be enough, and the motto at the top is TRUST NO ONE! I am, for the most part, happy being me. I have a good life and would not wish to be another person, even one who has lots of power. Have a better income level then I do at the moment sure, harm another person to achieve it? Never.

I will go in the opposite direction. The ultimate power to be achieved is immortality. Forgive me if this sounds hokie, but I grew up in a strongly Christian family so I would go as far as the altar to gain power. Regardless of your faith or religion choices most believe in an afterlife, if you follow your faith you will go on after this existence, therfore, no matter what you do to me or take from me, you cannot take away my life, just my body. Can't get more powerful then that!
Ummm, then I would come back to haunt their stupid butts. twisted BOOO!

Power. I want power, alright. I want the power to make the people who hurt those that I love suffer.. Would I do anything to get that power? I do have morals. I wish I had my inate abilities honed to such a point that I could use them. My mind is wasted, as is everyones. I wish my telepathic abilities were stronger (my esp senses are not as strong as they used to be). I really wish for telekinetic abilities.. That type of power would be totally awesome. 3nodding

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. As long as I have power over my own affairs, I have no need for anything else. xd
