Icicle Inn

The "everywhere else" in the Icicle Inn Area. Contains the thread's namesake, the town of Icicle Inn, along with the associated areas, including the Great Glacier and the frozen part of the Northern Continent.
Icicle Inn was, and still remains, a small snowy resort town built high up amongst the mountains on the Northern Continent. Though there are a handful of small shops and homes there, the area is known best for its perfect snowboarding conditions--mostly because very little else can be done there as it snows all year round. This perpetually icy terrain, it can be noted, is tempered coldly not due to its location on the continent, but rather because of its closeness to the Northern Crater, where the Planet is still healing itself. Because it needs to pool the Mako in so great and concentrated a location, the effects upon the Icicle Inn region have resulted in its frigid, sometimes fatally cold climate. On this note, a great deal of the area surrounding the little town is a frozen wilderness more apt for the wildlife than any travelers, especially those heading north of the town to the Great Glacier, which, while famous for its hot springs, loses more lives than aids in their recuperation. It is also noteworthy that to Icicle Inn's south, there used to be the town of Modeoheim, which is no longer present.
Over the years, Icicle Inn itself has changed little, besides for some small development to its shops and the local "resort." The shops have grown in size and contain both more merchandise and make a noticeably larger profit, for since the passing of Meteorfall people have once again sought out the town for pleasure again. Thus, the snowboarding business has seen a greater increase, and all types of wintry sport have taken up there, from tobaggoning to skiing, to even seasonal competitions which include both sports and sculpting contests. Nonetheless, though guides are more profuse, caution is still high, so that most people that arrive there come in tour or seasonal trip groups to ensure the safety of the town's visitors. This has, of course, increased the size of the local inn itself, to provide for the increase in population.
Some special notes: this is the birthplace of Aerith Gainsborough, then born to Professor Gast and his wife, the last Cetra, Ifalna. It is here also that one of the Before Crisis episodes happens, during which Zack Fair joins one of the Original Turks in tracking down the Avalanche hideout. During this Episode 7, two other Soldiers on the mission with Zack get captured: Essai and Sebastian. Both undergo Fuhito's process to become Ravens, and when Zack and the Turk come upon them, they are already too far gone in order to be saved. The Turk leaves to take of other business at the request of Zack, and Zack does the only noble thing he can do for his former co-workers and friends by killing them. Their graves are buried there, and during one of the DMW scenes in Crisis Core, Tseng and Zack are seen standing before the graves of the two Soldiers that died there.
