First off, let me just say this: this movie is really strange at times, even for a movie based on a book called: "On Stranger Tides" I mean, the Fountain of Youth in this movie, is probably not how you'd pictured it. Also, does anyone know if there are some Mermaids that have thier tails turn into legs when they go on land? Oh, and those Mermaids may look sexy but after seeing this movie you may not look at Ariel the same way again. Demons the lot of 'em.
As usual, Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow is incredible and steals the whole show. If you thought 'Dead Man’s Chest' was funny, 'On Stranger Tides' may make your jaws sore. If it were not for the whole Fountain of Youth deal this one might have been called "Jack Sparrow's Flying Circus" or "Jack Sparrow, Nuff' Said"
And now for some the new characters:
Angelica (Penelope Cruz): Just imagine Jack as a lady without all the *Imitates Will imitating Jack from the first movie*
Blackbeard (Ian McShane): Wow, Davy Jones might be the devil of the seas, But Blackbeard is something else. I mean, he can control an entire ship with just his sword, he has these huge flamethrowers at the front of his ship 'The Queen Annes Revenge', and HE'S BADASS.
Phillip Swift (Sam Claflin): Meh, not much to say about him. He's not a bad character, just underplayed.
Other than that, this one is pure Pirate movie entertainment at its best, I enjoyed it.
Final Rating: 7.5 out of 10
Oh, and remember this: If your chasing someone and they are on a wagon of coal, Aim for the person, NOT THE COAL!!!

7.5/10? I would give it maybe a 5/10...it was okay at best. I don't know if it's because I was tired of Pirates after watching the first three before the midnight showing, or if I was tired..or if it was just the fact it really was only okay. But I didn't love it, and honestly hope they don't make more. I like the first three.

I watched that movie a couple nights ago. I'd give it a 6/10. Honestly, I thought it was good. It wasn't the best, but it was good. Johnny Depp wasn't so good in this one as in the other movies, but he still had a lot of funny moments. The rest of the cast were pretty good. This one was pretty fun to watch. I enjoyed it. Still, the other movies were so much better (though I did not like the third one at all.)

I just watched that movie, and I have to say, if you're not going for Johnny Depp, the movie was just okay, somehow I didn't feel it was so innovative, and the 3D needed more "wow" effect. I really enjoyed it and it had some really funny moments but it was okay overall.

Personally this one is probably my second favorite Pirates movie, much better than part 2 and 3.
Part 2 and 3's story was just all over the place. There was just too much plot going on, they really needed to pull back on that. Also I enjoyed the first movie where it was more of a Pirate film with some fantasy elements, while parts 2 and 3 seemed less like Pirates and more just straight up fantasy. They tried going way over board in trying to top the cursed pirates in the first film, but when you try to much to top something like they did in the second and third film, eventually the cup will overflow and get all over the place, that was the feeling I had for those two films.
On Stranger Tides this movie pulled back on the fantasy a little and presented more of a period piece like the first film was and I really enjoyed that. Sure they went a little over board at times, but it wasn't too much. I'm probably one of the few people out there who love Captain Barbosa a lot more than Jack Sparrow, so bringing him back was really nice. I also loved how they depicted the mermaids in this one.
I was a little disappointed in the development of Black Beard. Ian McShane did a great job, but I felt the character as under developted, that he was only evil... because he was evil. You see him doing evil things throughout the film, but I would have loved to have had more back story into his character. Instead it was just, "I'm Black Beard, I'm Evil, Fear Me!"
In the end, very good stand alone Pirates film, and though they left the ending open for even more films, I really hope they stop here. They did better than the over the top mess which was Dead Man's Chest and Worlds End, but I feel this franchises well is about dry. A good note to end the series on. Don't try and push your luck with more sequels Disney.
