He hadn't seen her in a while.
Usually she dropped by his room to harass him, or he met up with her in classes or by accident outside...but lately? Not a peep. No text messages, either. Nothing. While he normally would have loved the silence, something didn't sit right with him. At all. So, after another (totally not worried) text was ignored, Mac decided it would be in his her best interests to check on her.
However, he wasn't the only one to be worried. As the Reaper approached the Demon Dorms, he took notice of a little ghoul, one who looked about nine and dressed in a torn yellow dress of sorts, shuffling from one side to another. Odd, he thought, it looked like there was an invisible forcefield keeping her away. Did they do that now? He wouldn't put it past them. To test, he took three steps ahead of the little undead girl and, realizing there was no barrier, sighed and turned to look at her.
Oh. It was her. That little Undead whose sleepover he crashed.
"What's wrong with you?" Eloquent as always, and before he knew it there was a big gray eye on him, clear and sparklng with recognition, and a suddenly wibbling lip in his line of vision.
"I THINK LIZZY'S SICK I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DOOOOOO~" Amrita wailed in absolute despair, making Mac resist the urge to cover his ears. But, it was good to know that he wasn't as crazy as he thought; he was ignoring the rest of her frantic rant, and soon interrupted it.
"...Go in and see her?" It was an obvious answer, and she was stupid for not realizing.
"I CAN'T!" She went on to lament. "B-because it's their dorm and I...Ah?!" Mac, who probably realized this explanation was coming, frowned deeply and grabbed the little girl's arm, dragging her forward into the Demon Dorms. At first she protested. Loudly, but once they were inside she took to clinging to his hand, holding it with both of hers and keeping as close to him as possible. If any Demons said anything about a zombie in their dorms, it was Mac's fault.
Mac would gladly accept the blame and put his (and her) handprints all over their stuff.
Take that, stupid demons.
With the Vetala in tow, Mac headed up to Lizzy's dorm and, as gently as ever, pounded on the door.
"Lizzy? Are you in there? Answer!"

Lizzy was unhappy. Or rather, she had been unhappy for a while now, as well as disappointed and hurt and feeling like she's not good enough. However, she had been pretty good at locking away those negative thoughts, attending classes as usual, bothering her friends... She just wasn't used to feeling this depressed over anything. Prior her enrollment into Amity, the only thing that made her feel unhappy enough for it to last more than a day was when her father passed away and that was when she was a child.
She didn't even know how things ended up this way...
It all started with a crush. She was sure every ghoul her age would have at least one of those, but she had to have a crush on the boil with a female best friend. And she had to choose to go to the lighthouse during the island field trip, where she witnessed them being close. And she had to walk in on him being stark naked them when they were settling some 'domestic matters' during Fitness Club.
And then he walked out without saying anything to her.
Everything just led her to one conclusion: She is never going to be as important to him as his best friend is to him, and she is never going to feel comfortable in their little clique. This led her to not feeling like she was good enough, not for him per say, but not good enough in general... Which confused her as she had always been rather confident in herself and her abilities.
When she couldn't lock her feelings away any longer, she didn't have the energy to be productive anymore. She just wanted to lie in bed, with the covers over her head; in fact, she did that for a few days... Might as well she didn't really have to eat to survive. After that period of time, she still didn't feel comfortable enough to venture out her room. In fact, her conflicted feelings led her to go spider and spin a ton of webbing around her entire room, covering it in cobweb; the only area spared was, not surprisingly, her walk in wardrobe.
Thus, when she heard someone knocking on the door, and a familiar voice coming from the other side, she didn't know how to react. She did climb down from the ceiling and shifted back, putting on her skull pin to help retain her humanoid form, before wrapping her blanket around herself with a frown; she probably looked terrible anyway, still dressed in her nightgown, her hair messy and disheveled...
Maybe if she ignored him, he'll go away.
Rosenthal, on the other hand paw, had a different idea. While Lizzy was busy with pretending not to be in, he had grabbed the keys to her room in his mouth and went straight for the minipet door at the bottom; he recognized that voice... Belonging to that horrible boil that made his owner cry. However, even he could tell that there was something wrong with Lizzy.
Better Mac than nobody at all.
Exiting through the minipet door, the Pata-Pata wriggled its head wings at Amrita when he saw her; great! Someone other than Mac! Happily, it dropped the keys at the Vetala's feet. Or rather, where her feet would be if they weren't backwards.

No answer.
It was very likely that she was out, hell it was more than very likely. The thing was, he doubted it, especially since Amrita was there...from what he understood, Lizzy adored the little ghoul and if the little one was worried...well, Lizzy was definitely in there. He was about to knock harder on the door, demand a little more violently, when he heard the minipet door move. Both Vetala and Psychopomp looked down to observe the little pink thing, and their reactions were as vastly different as they were themselves.
"...Rosenthal!" Amrita breathed out, releasing Mac's hand to awkwardly crouch down to get the key, giving the pink wing-eared creature a pat on the head. "Good boy for uh...what is this?" She held it up to Mac, who took it after his initial grumble of 'stupid creeper' was over.
"Probably the key to her room." Mac responded, and without even announcing they were coming in he had the key in the door and unlocked it quickly, pushing it open.
"Lizzy you can't----BLOODY JACKIN' MARY!" He cut himself off, staring at the webs that lingered on just about everything. Amrita seemed just as surprised, but she was still in the hallway with Rosenthal, working her way back to her feet. "What is wrong with you?!" He demanded, remembering full well that her room did not look like this the last time he was there.
"Lizzy..." Amrita whimpered, finally getting past Mac into the room; the webs didn't seem to bother her, but she did stare at the other ghoul with a wide, pitying eye. What was wrong with her friiiiiend~

How did he...?
She peeked out from under the blanket, and stared at the intruder. Or rather, intruders; she knew that Mac was here, but Amrita too...? For a moment, she felt rather touched that they would bother about her enough to come all the way down, especially where Mac was concerned. She actually thought that he would be glad that she wasn't constantly knocking on his door.
Amrita though, in her eyes, was sweet enough for her to not be completely surprised. She was equally touched by the ghoul's gesture though.
After that brief moment, however, she started to feel rather guilty for making them come all the way here because she had decided to just... Hide in her room to deal with her feelings. At Mac's question, she just stared at him with a mixture of sadness and worry; she did not want them to know what's wrong! What if Mac laughs at her? Not that she wasn't exactly used to it, but she really did not want him to do that to her now, of all times. And she had always wanted Amrita to be more confident... Yet here she is, doubting herself.
Way to set a good example.
"I-I came down with something," She finally decided to reply, looking at Amrita and then Mac as she pulled the blankets even tighter around herself, "The webs are a side effect... Too tired to do much. Sorry for making you guys worry..."

Mac saw the blankets move, and that was good enough for him; he started to move across the room to the lump on the bed that was Lizzy...but someone much smaller beat him to her.
"I KNEW YOU WERE SICK!" Amrita squeaked out much louder than she thought, climbing onto the bed and sitting on the edge of it, a backwards hand patting the lump that was her friend. "I'm sorry Lizzy, I don't think being sick is nice at all. Are...are you getting better?" She asked worriedly, shuffling a little closer on the bed.
Mac, in the meantime, was suspicious. While he didn't know much about Spider Demons, he didn't think real spiders spun webs when they were that sick. He could be wrong though. Curiousity driven, he reached out to touch some of the webs, and was rather surprised to find them not sticky at all. Huh. Maybe she was sick. Still, he didn't imagine her to be a recluse when she was sick, mostly for how relentless sociable she was when well.
"What do you have? We could get you medicine." Mac tested tentatively, poking holes in some of the thin web clusters that linked a hair to a table.
"Oh, Yes! Medicine!" Amrita chimed in, thinking that was a wonderful idea.

"Aw..." Lizzy couldn't resist sitting up in bed and reaching out to wrap her arms around Amrita for a quick hug before leaning against the headboard of the bed, running her fingers through her hair in a lame attempt to make it less messy. She nodded, "Yes. I feel much better... I think I should be ready to go back to attending classes in a day or two!"
That's not a complete lie; she had spent enough time feeling down to last her a while.
At the mention of medicine, she frowned; this is an imaginary, made-up illness. She didn't even think of a name for it (yet), because she didn't expect Mac to ask about it... Besides, where would they get medicine for a made-up illness? That could ruin her story, and she really did not want them to know the real reason behind her isolation.
"But medicine tastes horrible," She pouted, pulling the blanket up to cover the bottom half of her face, "And I don't like swallowing pills... Besides, I'm feeling better already! I'm sure I'll be fine..."

"Ooooh, that's good!" Amrita leaned into the hug, and when it was over she brought her knees up to her chest, shuffling her feet under her rear. She was going to sit there until asked to move or leave...or at least until Mac left. She was not going to wander around the Demon dorms by herself, no sir-ee!
"Ah. Well, it's good you're feeling better." Mac was frowning at her, which on it's own wasn't an unusual thing; it was the expression in the frowning that was odd. He was still suspicious, and he was pretty sure she wasn't telling them something. Eventually he became bored of poking holes in the one spot, and went on to disrupt the webs in other spaces.
"You look terrible. What did you say you had?" He pressed innocently, still looking suspiciously irritated. "I don't want to get sick and I don't think you'd want her to get sick..." Trailing off, he gestured vaguely to the little ghoul. Some illnesses could still be shared after most of the symptoms were gone, so it was a fair question.

"I think it might be a spider demon only illness. Don't think you can uh, spin webs... Sick or not," Her voice was muffled from hiding under her blanket, and her eyes followed Mac as he moved around her room; she'll have to get it cleaned up before she goes back to class... To get back into her 'normal' mood. Perhaps a gnome or two could be bribed; cleaning her room up herself when its in this much of a mess would take her forever.
Shuffling her feet under the blanket, she smiled, blushing slightly as she tried to change the subject, "Um... Thank you. For being awesome friends."
They're the best medicine.
"I promise not to fall sick again!" She nodded, lowering the blanket from her face as she scooted closer to Amrita to put her arms around the ghoul, "Or at least not... Vanish if I do." She was sure hugs was part of the prescription to feeling better as well.

Mac's lips pressed together in a thin, unimpressed line. Something didn't sound right, or feel right...but he didn't know anything about spider illnesses, nor did he care to do the research. So all he did was watch her, frowning, as she dealt with the little ghoul who would believe everything she said without a single thought. Well, at least the ghoul was hugging her back! There was that comfort at least. Hm. Shrugging, he stopped playing with the webs and wiped his hand uncomfortably on his jacket.
"Well, that's good. I was starting to think your boilfriend broke up with you or something~" He said it nonchalantly, intending on it being an off-handed almost joke. He shrugged animatedly, palms up at his side. "Glad you're feeling better. I should be on my way then~"
Amrita didn't say anything, she just hugged into Lizzy, nuzzling the demoness with her little face.

She tried her best not to react, because what Mac said was not true, and the fact that she doesn't have a boilfriend proved that he didn't mean to... Well, be mean. However, it did hit a nerve and if it wasn't for the fact that her face was hidden from view from hugging Amrita, he would probably see her wince as she was reminded of Jericho... And then Riley. Followed by her insecurities. Instead, she tightened her hold on the younger ghoul for a moment as she leaned against her, taking comfort in that before releasing her, giving her a pat on the head with a fond smile.
She then turned to look at Mac with a sad, almost pleading, expression as she fidgeted with the edge of her blanket when he mentioned that he was going to leave. If he could read her mind, he would just hear the following word being repeated over and over again: hug hug hug hug hug-
She was rallying the message mentally though, as she stared at him.

Mac's brow raised when he saw the sad look on her face; that was quite the expression! He'd never seen her that sad before, and a small piece of him helpfully piped up with OH GOD SHE'S SAD WHAT DO YOU DO IF SHE STARTS LEAKING because, the last time she started crying, he was clung to and attacked by the pink thing with wing ears. Neither of which was a good thing, especially the second one. He could imagine the mental chant she was trying to psychic to him, but it was more a sense of impending doom than anything; he didn't want to hug her, he really didn't want to touch her on a good day!
Still...
Frowning unhappily, the Reaper stepped across the room, picking his way through the webs and things until he finally reached the bed and the two ghouls. While he did not hug her, he did meet her half way by patting her on the head, between her horns. That counted, right?
"I think she needs her rest, she's clearly not a hundred percent yet." Mac explained to the little ghoul who, up until now, had been clinging to the Demoness. The Vetala nodded as if she understood, and after a final hug started to crawl off of the bed.
"O-Okay! Uhm. Lizzy, get better! Then we can, um, practice more!" Yes, that worked, didn't it? Hmm! The girl started to fidget, glancing up at the Reaper every now and then to try and figure out when he was leaving.
"Cya later." Mac stated, though it was more of a threat than anything. Something still didn't sit right with him...

She pouted at Mac at the head pat, but decided that it was better than nothing since he looked pretty unhappy about it. Besides, Amrita had already managed to fill her hug meter for the day! One thing about staying inside was not being able to see her friends... She was starting to miss them, actually, although it took Mac and Amrita's visit for her to realize that.
"We can do that," She forced a smile at Amrita as she was reminded of what happened during their last practice session; she was still a little... Upset over that. At Mac's words, however, she perked up a little, offering him a sheepish smile as she tilted her head, "Yup, later... Uh, mind locking the door on your way out please?"

"Good!" Amrita chirped, beaming as best as she could at her friend.
"Of course." Mac murmured, not particularly caring for the pout she'd given him. Taking the little ghoul's hand, he turned and lead her out of the room, locking the door - which apparently didn't need the key - and left Lizzy by herself in the room.
With her room key in his pocket.
