You can tickle me pink, orange, red, or blue, but not grey
I'd kind of like to go to your church and hear this preaching because I am honestly a slight bit confused and am seeing this in two ways.
1. Slather on the guilt? So they're making you feel convicted? I don't really see how that is a bad thing. It may make you feel bad, but that's because it would be true. : o But I've read a lot of your posts, and you seem smart about this stuff and just....this thought doesn't make sense to me. Then again, I don't actually know you, and have never met you in real life. D : But either way, this leads me onto my second thought.
2. Unless it's guilt about silly little things like "Why are you watching tv!? Don't you know that is only filled with filth!? Turn away and repent from it or you are sinninggggggg!!!!"<---That is extremist and I do agree bad. o_o
I think if, you are reading His word and what you are hearing from the minister does not match up with His word, then it's time to get out, immediately. That's why....Paul (?) said to check the scriptures to make sure that what people are saying to you is true. And why in acts it says this: Acts 17:11 "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." You have to always check, you shouldn't just assume that because that man preaching to you has the title of minister, that he is right in his teaching.
As to finding a new church, just let the Holy Spirit lead you and examine the scriptures to see if what the minister is saying is true.
I hope that helped. : D
Because grey will not do.
