Yes, yes. I just found out a few days ago. I'm so excited!
So, Sensei, or anyone else who wishes to contribute, can you give me some essential phrases I might need on the days I'm out on the town?
I've got all my basic introductions and such, but I'm not very good at saying a lot else.

A few things come to mind off the top of my head:
えいごをはなしますか。 eigo wo hanashimasu ka. Do you speak English?
～はどこですか。 ~ wa doko desu ka. Where is ~?
~ください/～にします。 ~kudasai/~ni shimasu. ~please. (This is for ordering things mostly)
すみません. sumimasen. This is your catch all phrase, it can mean excuse me, thank you, sorry and many many more!

"もういちどおねがいします” - mou ichi do, onegaishimasu - means "one more time, please". You can use it to get someone to repeat what they just said if you didn't catch it.
"わたしはにほんごがうまくありません。ゆっくりはなしてください。” - watashi wa nihongo ga umaku arimasen, yukkuri hanashite kudasai. - My Japanese isn't very good, please speak slowly.
