It may have been spring, nearly summer, but the weather was pretty chilly today. It was kind of unusual. But that was ok. Ciaran didn't really mid the chill as he sat in the park. He had a good book in his lap, and was absorbed enough into the story that he didn't even notice the weather. It could have been raining bananas, and he probably wouldn't have cared.

Dispirited the cold though, the park was still pretty crowded. Something about spring made all the couples come out of the wood work. And the cold just made everyone cuddly. It had been a challenge to find a place to read in peace. But he had found one, and would stay there as long as he could.

Koorie walked through the park silently, her duster-coat pulled around her to keep her warm in the unusually chilly weather. Not that she minded, the cold suited her quite well, considering her rather interesting newly found talent. When she was transformed, she could sing ice into submission... hard to believe if you weren't on crack; hell even if you were on crack it was pretty far fetched.

Clutching the coat at the neck with one hand, a folder and violin case in the other, she walked the familiar path to her favorite, isolated section of the usually busy park. It wasn't that she disliked practicing in front of others, but in public people tended to think she was playing for change and that was humiliating. Unfortunatly, she needed the fresh air since her cousin had brilliantly spilled some foul smelling something in the house.

Turning the corner to her favorite bench under a still young willow tree, she came to a stop. There was someone at her spot. Eyes narrowing, she frowned and glared at the back of the person, but saying nothing.

Ciaran was oblivious that he was being stared at. He idly reached a hand up to run his fingers through the dark red locks that framed his face. He gave a low murmur, talking to himself before turning the page and kept reading. It was the end of a chapter, and he wondered if he should read one more or not.

It had been "just one more chapter" for the last several hours. He tucked a book mark into the pages and closed the book to stretch. Setting the book aside, he stood to his full height of 6'2. It wasn't hard to see why he was on the basketball team at Vally High School. What was odd though, was the length Ciaran kept his red hair at. The ends hung past his hips when left down, though today it was pulled back, and bunched up some under his scarf, so the length was hard to tell. He swiveled his upper torso to pop his back when he noticed Koorie standing along the path, staring at him. More like glaring. He recognized her, though only through passing. She went to Vally High as well, and he was fairly sure he remembered her name, but wasn't confidant.

"Good afternoon." he said as he stood upright and turned to face her.

Koorie watched with a deep scowl etched in her facial features as she contemplated the best way to remove this unwanted visitor from her spot. As he stood up, she noticed just how much this long haired boy towered over her, which caused her scowl to spread even deeper throughout her features. She recognized him from her school and she knew from rumors that he was part of the athletics program and potentially either bi or a eunuch.

"It's cold, slightly damp, and a good deal overcast." She shot back at him, her voice crisp and to the point. It was clear she was not going to be welcoming him with open arms.

"Touche." He smiled faintly. "But being cold or overcast or damp doesn't mean it's still not a good day." He countered. After a moment, Ciaran's features softened. "Crowded at the park today. Looking for a place to sit? You're welcome to join me if you want." He offered before slowly sitting back down and picking up his book. "I don't bite." He added jokingly.

A snort escaped the blue-haired girl and she curled her lips up in a sneer. "Too bad you don't bite; then you might stand a chance. You're in my spot in this park and I don't share."

Stepping up to him, she used her violin case to knock at his book, attempting to hit it right out of his hands. "Leave." She wasn't intimidated at all by his hight, nor the fact that he was an athlete; she could hold her own.

Ciaran looked up at her as she attempted to hit his book away. "Sorry, but you don't own this park, miss." He clutched the book closer and kept the smile on his face. Clearly he was here first, but he wasn't about to fight a girl for the bench. He had no intention of leaving the park though. He stood, nodding his head to her and moving towards a tree, intending to sit there instead.

She rolled her eyes in annoyance, watching as the other student finally got up. For a moment, it looked like he was actually going to leave, but she quickly realized that Ciaran was planning on sitting near by at the tree. "Keep moving."

Sitting herself on the bench, Koorie set the violin case down and opened up the folder. A gasp escaped her as a large gust of wind picked up the lose papers and began scattering them carelessly. "Oh for cripes sake!" She yelled out, standing abruptly and starting to chase after the papers.

Ciaran couldn't help but smirk slightly when she told him to keep moving. He really had no intention of it. He had chosen to read here, so she could deal with it. The wind and resulting cry from Koorie made the tall Irish boy look back in time to see some papers waft past his feet. Without a second thought, he took off after them and began grabbing the ones he could catch.

It took a few minutes, but Ciaran had rounded up all the papers he could find before heading back towards Koorie. He glanced at the sheets and smiled. Music huh? Shifting his book under his arm, Ciaran began to sort the pages so they were in order, humming the tune on the pages as he did before reaching Koorie again.

"Tis a lovely song." He offered before holding the music to her. "'ere ya go... Dun know if I got it all er not."

Koorie scrambled as fast as she could to gather the papers as they danced away from her. Although her primary focus was getting her sheet music back, she certainly noticed that the boy didn't leave... in fact, he was helping her? What the hell was up with that; no one ever chose to willingly stay around her if they could help it, much less help her.

Sheets clutched tightly in her arms as another gust mussed with her already messed up hair, she shot Ciaran a slightly disproving glance. "You're slightly on the flat side." She remarked, commenting on his humming. Not like it mattered; he probably wasn't shooting to be on key anyways. She took the music from Ciaran, eyeing the numbers on the pages, then frowned more; great, page 6 was missing. A quick glance around revealed that the piece of music was stuck up in the willow's branches far out of reach. Wonderful.

Taking her violin case and setting it on top of the rest of the papers, she made sure that they were all secure before pulling a hairtie from her pocket and gathering up her blue, curled strands into a rather hasty mound. Shrugging out of her duster, she let it fall to the ground to show a loose tank top and dark jeans. She walked over to the base of the willow and kicked off her boots, then tested the strength of the first branch.

Ciaran smirked slightly. "F'got m pitch pipe." He said with an amused tone. When she realized pages were missing, Ciaran glanced around with her as the girl spotted the music and started disrobing, Ciaran was a bit shocked. It was too chilly to take one's coat off. He picked up the discarded coat as Koorie tested the first branch. He placed the coat back on her shoulders.

"Don't go catch'n yer death." Ciaran's voice was kind and warm. He gently urged her back a step. "Allow me, please." With that, he grabbed a branch and pulled himself up. His longer limbs allowed him to take to the higher branches quicker where he grabbed at the run away pages from the tree. The lanky teen moved quite like a monkey as he shimmied about in the tree, shaking a few leaves and young flowers as he grabbed the last few pages.

He tucked the pages carefully into his coat so he wouldn't loose them or damage them as he descended the branches. He dropped down the last couple feet landing not far from where he'd first hopped into the tree.

"Think these b'long ta ya." He said, pulling the pages from his coat and offering them to the girl.

The only reason Ciaran had been able to get Koorie to take a step away from the tree was because she was in complete stunned silence over what this guy was doing; what WAS he doing? First he was actually teasing her with her cold remark about his pitch, then he insists on climbing the tree for her after putting her coat back around her. While her face was completely calm and neutral, her mind was whirling around as if a tornado had gotten in there. He was up to something, he had to be.

She bit back a smartassed remark about how the pages belonged to the 'other girl who was here' and how he'd 'just missed her'; it could have been taken as flirting and that was the last thing she wanted him to think. She was NOT interested in him. She took the pages and muttered something that sounded like a 'thanks, then turned her back to him and walked over to her violin. Maybe she'd just ignore him, that would get the message across, since being a total d**k clearly wasn't getting through to him like it did to everyone else. Certainly he'd had to have heard the rumors around school about how she was a 'icy b***h who'd bite off your head', which either made him really thick headed or just plain stupid. She wasn't sure which at the moment, and she didn't really care to get to know him enough to find out.

"Yer welcome." He replied softly. "I'm Ciaran." He offered. "...Mind tell'n me yer name?" The truth was Ciaran was still so new to the area, he didn't know many people. Outside of the basketball team, who had virtually accosted him to join the team the first day he was on campus, he hadn't met anyone. He didn't have any idea that this girl went to school with him. If the girl wasn't going to introduce herself though, Ciaran was ok with settling himself back with his book. But he waited just to see if she'd respond to him.

Koorie practically laughed at this last question, or at least gave a stiff snort at it; was he for real? Did he really not even know they went to the same school...? Oh well, all the better, probably. Taking out a couple of laundry pins, she clipped her music to the portable stand she'd brought and opened up her violin case.

With a quick glance to Ciaran, she squinted her eyes a little. "Koorie.... Koorie Shizuku." Great god, this boy seriously was not going to be leaving was he.

Ciaran smiled at her. "Tis lovely ta meet'cha Koorie." He brushed the hair from his face before returning to his book and where he'd been sitting under the tree. His cheeks were becoming tinged with pink from the chill of the air.

He loved it. So Koorie would be hard pressed to get him to leave. He would just sit there and listen to her play while he read. To him, it seemed like a good deal.
