THE LOREKEEPER

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. "Welcome.", a soft, yet old voice speaks. "Oh, don't be afraid. I won't bite you."

As you approach, you see an old man wrapped in a skyblue robe, covered by a dark blue cape. The hood he wears hides his face, yet you can clearly see that time hasn't left him untouched. You also notice fine white strands of hair, nearly as soft as silk.

"Allow me to introduce myself. I am the Lorekeeper. I am the entity that Binds and Unbinds all in this world. I am the one scribing the Fates of Many. And I have come to guide you on your path."

The old man beckons you to follow him as he turns around and walks through the dark tunnel. You feel blind, a bit unsure about where you are, but in the distance you can see light waiting for you.

"As you walk through this tunnel, think well about who you are. What is your name? Where do you wish to be born? And why have you come to exist in that dimension? Are you sure you are ready for the adventures you'll be facing?"

He gives you a moment to think about his questions, to make up your mind as you are looking for answers. Slowly but uninterupted he moves through the tunnel, towards the light at the end. Despite your eagerness to see where the light comes from, you get the feeling you're not approaching anytime soon. Perhaps, even, you'll never reach that light no matter how many steps you take. Maybe this is all but a dream.

"When we reach the next room, you will see a crystal tablet. On that tablet, I want you to carve all the answers of the questions you'll be receiving before you are Bound.", he says calmly, then turns around, raising his finger to warn you. "Should you forget to reply to one question, yes, even the simplest of questions, then you shall never be Bound. Then your existence shall never take place."

Once again he turns around, leaving you alone in the darkness. An unmeasurable amount of time passes. You take step by step, your mind focussed on the questions; focussed on your answers. And then, suddenly, the light engulfs you...

THE CRYSTAL TABLET

"This is it. The other room I talked about.", he watches you and raises an eyebrow. "I'm surprised you finally were able to decide on the answers... Now, don't get cocky. This is but the first step."

The Lorekeeper points at a single pedestal, just the right height for you, where a nearly transparent tablet lays resting. As you approach it, it seems to resonate a strange tone that sounds like music to your ears. You tune in to the song and succeed in understanding its language, realising it's asking you questions, one by one, slowly and charming. Before you know it, you have fallen under its spell. As you keep on listening, your eyes take note of a chisel and a hammer, your hands pick them up and you start to carve your answers into the untouched tablet...

In what body do you wish to be Bound?
... you reply with a link to your avatar/image, or a description of how you look.
What is your name?
... you carve your name.
Do you wish to be Bound as a man or a woman?
... you carve your gender.
Which dimension shall be the first to hear your deeds?
... you carve the dimension you're born in.
And which kin will you consider yours?
... you reply with a race native to your dimension.

Now, what actions will be natural to you...?
... you carve your personality into the tablet.
...And by what actions will you become hated?
... you carve your personality's weaknesses.

If you'd have fame, how would you have earned it...?
... your answer explains the great deeds you've done.
... and which actions have caused your downfall?
... your answer betrays the mistakes you've made before.
In the end, what is your destiny?
... you reply with your lifetime wish/desire, your goal to achieve.

When you finish carving into the tablet, you suddenly feel more solid. As if you are no longer 'nothingness', but as if you have been given a meaning. You understand that the tablet - no, the magic of the tablet - has Bound you with every answer you gave.

"Good. Now carefully take the tablet - make sure you don't break it! - and go through this door.", the Lorekeeper points at a door you hadn't seen before. The door's colours seem to be a combination of white and quicksilver, and looks ideal for one person at a time.
"I will be right behind you, no worries."

THE ROOM OF MANY

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
As you step into the new room, your eyes fall upon rows filled with books, glittering scrolls and pages. You follow the Lorekeeper towards the center of the room and let your eyes glide over the countless books, taking note that all of them contain several crystal tablets like the one you're holding in your hand. The books themselves show no names and their cover all look the same, but you can feel that there is more to them. Sadly, no matter how much you try to understand this magic, your mind can't grasp its wisdom.

"Gently pose your tablet next to the crystal ball."

You snap out of your thoughts and notice you have arrived at a small round table where a single, rather large, crystal ball rests on a purple cushion. When you look around, the rows run in all direction as if they are part of one giant web. Before you lose yourself in this awkward maze, you carefully pose the crystal tablet you've been holding.

"You're almost finished. After this, you will be Bound and be able to enjoy the adventures you've asked for.", he pauses. "Place your hands on the crystal ball. It will give you something to help you on your journey."

You nod and place your hands on the crystal ball. At that very moment, your mind is pulled into a world of colours. Slowly, images begin to form. Once again, you understand the magic is asking you for answers, but this time it uses images and colours.

Which magic has touched you?
... you imagine the magic native to your race.
What part of that magic is your strength?
... if you have magic, you show your favoured/mastered part.
What part of that magic is lacking?
... if you have magic, you show the magic you're not good at.
Which are your abilities or feats?
... if you have no magic or your magic allows an ability, you show the crystal ball your trump cards.

"You're getting good at this.", the old man says with a smile. "You are Bound now. As soon as you as you walk through this door, your adventures will begin. I wish you good luck."

The Lorekeeper picks up the crystal tablet, which is now filled with moving images and colours of all kind. The tablet radiates magic like you've never seen before, and yet the door beckons you. You walk towards it, throwing a last glance at the tablet and the crystal ball you've held in your hands. The moment you open the door...
