The Night of the Hunter
A film made in 1955 about two children who run away from a corrupt preacher.
This film was different than I had expected. I didn't expect much from it, but it was very different. The characters were one of the most intriguing parts of the film. The preacher and the female matron were both very interesting characters. The preacher was very sinister, and the way a town controlled by God really believed in him made him even more believable. The two main characters, the two children John and Pearl, were the big deal. The chemistry between them worked out very well. I think every character did contribute to this film.
I was mostly impressed by the suspense and cinematography of the film. There was a lot of scenery that gives the film a peaceful and tranquil feeling. The suspense was at times chilling, because there were some things that came unexpectedly. I got a bit scared at some points.
Overall, this was a pretty good film. I can watch it again if I'd like to. It's something anyone can enjoy.
