Talon (my husband) fell yesterday and dislocated his shoulder. He also broke it in 2 places, which required emergency surgery to put in a metal plate and screws. We don't know how much longer he'll be in the hospital, but he won't be able to work or drive or look after our daughter for a long time. In the meantime, our daughter is looking for him at home and not finding him... at 11 1/2 months she's too little to understand why her daddy isn't where she thinks he should be.
And I'm left to deal with everything, so if I'm not around the guild much in the next few weeks, this is why. I do promise to keep the contests updated whenever I can find a few minutes to get online.

My dad used to travel a lot for his job when I was younger. I have a younger brother by 10 years. When he would ask where my dad was, we told him that he was working, and that he had to get on a plane to see doctors.
I suggest be truthful. Say that he wasn't feeling well, so he went to see someone to help him and he will be back home soon.
She's too little to actually understand, but a reason is enough to accept it.

I'm sorry to hear that. ):
When I was a lot younger, possibly around three or four, my biological mother left me because she evidently didn't really want me at the time. So my parents divorced and my dad kept custody of me instead of sending me to an orphanage. But since he was in the military, he was out in the field a lot and would be gone for days on end and I'd have to stay several nights with a babysitter. That problem was fixed when he remarried again when I was six, but still...
I hope for the best for you all.

Hopefully Talon should be home by the end of the week, but even two nights is a long time to her.

Update:
Talon is now home from the hospital, but he'll be off work for the next 3 months.
And hopefully his sister is home safe too. I don't know what she was thinking but she went downtown Vancouver (BC) tonight.
What a week this has been so far sweatdrop
