Off with your head!Dance til you're dead!
News Story here.
Apparently, the AC went out in the dubstep area. This could be VERY bad news for EDC Las Vegas. There's a very good chance it could be cancelled, but if it isn't security will be 1000000x tighter. The kid that died was just 15 at an 18+ event. This isn't going to look good, considering what happened last year... The lighter side is that since the VENUE was the one with the broken AC... So THEY could get slapped with the charges. But I have read that the kid that died wasn't in the busted AC area... This makes me want to cry, guys.. This could be the end of Insomniac... My thoughts and prayers go out to that kid's family, and all of those who are hospitalized...
Sure, it was their own choice to roll, but they still have my sympathy..
Apparently they were having some trouble with crowd control too... People were getting on the stages and such. Maybe the venue's security is at fault. Thoughts? Feelings? Arguments?
LOTSSS of info in my tumblr. Go look.

The kid who died at EDC Dallas was 19 and not 15. Yes the A/C went out, but the hugest problem is people don't know how to be responsible at events anymore. If you are going to take drugs TAKE precautions all the time.
Don't let this and the other news deter you from raving or the scene for that matter. All the news wants to do is spin everything for the worse and scare off all the new comers and future rave participants. EDC used to be a rave, but the way it's been going it's no longer a rave. It's a music festival and will started to be more and more promoted as that. The underground rave scene is getting harder and harder to find for these reasons alone. So many new uneducated people are flooding the scene and don't know how to take responsibility for there own actions.
Vegas is not going to be cancelled. Vegas has alot tighter security than Dallas. One thing people don't realize is that even though it's starting at 8pm the temps out in Vegas can still be in the upper 90's at that time. Also the asphalt will still be hot and radiating heat. Stay hydrated and always keep your electrolytes up. Take the proper preparations and precautions and you will be fine. They have free water refill stations if you get a water bottle from insomniac. I will be getting one for everyone who is going with me. Only $10 for the aluminum water bottle.

I was there and saw how everything went down. Including the kid that died that night.
Roughly 8:30 p.m., the Basspod section of EDC was closed off to attendees due to overcrowding and an 'accident' that happened inside. People were being let out, but not in. As the night progressed, I received txts asking if I was ok and if I needed water. I replied to all and continued to walk around for things to do until Skrillex's set.
By 11:45, the entire building for that section was shutdown for the night. Thus causing crowding in some parts of the park. People were still calm, but slightly disappointed the area was closed off for 'A/C reasons' when really it was being used to house the dehydrated and fatality till the paramedics could move them out.
Due to those two stages being shutdown, DJs sets were moved around and changed to accommodate. Those at the outside stage were given a few minutes longer, the other two shortened times.
Close to 1:10, Skrillex began to spin in the Neon Garden and again, this area was beginning to overcrowd. I was near the side emergency exits to the right of the stage and VIP area and we were unable to move...Period.
By 1:30 we hear a repetitive noise that sounded like a fire alarm had been pulled. A few minutes later, Skrillex stops spinning and says that Insomniac officials have asked that we exit the building as quickly as possible. Everyone was calm and left via emergency exits and the main doors.
The party continued till 3 am. But, most of the attendants were already leaving by 2:30 am.
Surprisingly, we were still under the max capacity for the park. More areas were opened up than last year and yet, due to closing some areas to push attendants out of the park, it appeared to be over. Yes, there was only one water station. Yes, it was 109 degrees. Yes, there were people sitting in dance areas and walking through the fountains from time to time. All I know is that as it is Texas, its common to be in the 100. The only other issue was lack of shaded areas and watering stations.
Anything else, I'll have to look around and see. But, that's all from my point of view.

black_gumdrawpz So do you know exactly what that guy died of? Some people are saying it was an Aneurysm. I don't know. The news here keeps wanting to place blame on Insomniac no matter what the cause. But, it all comes back to dehydration and a medical issue he had. The family won't say for sure till the autopsy is done later this week. But again, I only just met him for five minutes then went on my way to the rest of the park. Now their trying to link another death due to some bad tabs going around back to EDC.

Sorry about getting back on this so late.
I've gone around to a few people and it's confirmed that the 19 year old died of an aneuryism. The other death linked back to the event via tabs going around died of a cynide or some kind of poison laced drug. From what I'm hearing, it sounds like a group had planned to sell to the crowd these yellow tabs with an out pressed twitter logo on them. Many people were getting sick on these, but one recorded to be dead due to taking five of them. Age is unknown as far as I know. Haven't looked through the news on it yet.
I'm starting to see chatter about going 21+ for massives or moving them out of Dallas or shutting them down all together. Then there those all are for going underground again. It's a real coin toss for now.
