DESCRIPTION - Many years ago, an underwater volcano erupted, forcing itself up and to the ocean's surface. People soon started to flock to the new crater, attracted to it's warm, fresh waters and soon, a city was born.
Many of the locals are in fair physical condition due to having to climb many flights of stairs in order to get anywhere within the city. But you can't simply walk to Sootopolis City. The only way in it to either fly through the craters opening, or by diving to the bottom of the ocean.

LOCATION - Sootopolis City is located in Eastern Hoenn.

PEOPLE - Sootopolis City doesn't have many people compared to most cities in the Hoenn region, standing at a steady population average of 39 inhabitants. But considering where the city is located, it isn't too surprising.

RESOURCES/EVENTS/PLACES OF INTEREST -
Poke Center - No City is complete without their very own Poke Center, and Sootopolis is no exception! If you ever need to take a rest, it is just a short swim away from the Gym.

Department Store - Just like the Poke Center, the Poke Mart is just a short swim from the City Gym, but in the opposite direction. It is located on the opposite side of the crater from the Poke Center.

Pokemon Gym - Located in the center of the City, it is sitting on a small island in the middle of the crater's lake. This is the final Gym in the Hoenn line-up. Here, you will face Juan, the Water-type specialist. If you can defeat him, he will present you with the Rain Badge.

Cave of Origin - A cave located at the bottom of the crater, behind the gym. It is said to be the cave where life began. Residents of Sootopolis are not permitted to enter the Cave of Origin, and it is guarded at all hours. Only 'certain people' are ever allowed inside, and for good reason.

Underwater Cavern - Not far to the South-East of the giant chasm that is Sootopolis City, deep beneath the oceans depths, there is a cave. Inside, there are levels and levels of labyrinth-like passages, making it easy for travelers to get lost! If you manage to make it into the deepest parts of the cave, a sleeping giant may be waiting for you.

MYTH/LORE - Deep inside the Cave of Origin you can find Groudon, the Continent Pokemon. A swim to the south east and down below the waters surface, inside the Underwater Cave, you can find Kyogre, the Sea Basin Pokemon. One with the power to expand continents, the other with the ability to expand the oceans. Many years ago, the two were constantly fighting with each other, one wanting the world to be covered completely with land, the other wanting the planet to be a never-ending sea. The feud nearly tore the world asunder until Rayquaza, the third of the Weather Trio, came down from the sky to end the conflict.
Here, in the city where Land and Water live harmoniously as one, the two dueling giants sleep at the heart of this now-peaceful city.
