Greetings fellow followers of Christ.

Here is a quote that I really agree with- "The Word of God cannot be understood without a constant and laborious study, without a careful and prayerful scrutiny of its contents...By divorcing a verse from its setting or singling out a single clause, one may "prove" not only absurdities but real falsities by the very words of Scripture." - A.W. Pink

Psalms 119 has 22 sections, at least it does in the NIV bible. A thought came to me a few minutes ago. I think we all should read through it, even if you are already familiar with it. I'll admit, that I haven't read every psalm, but only a select few chapters over and over. I have not read this one yet. This chapter has 176 verses and if we break it up, it will not seem so overwhelming.

I think we should read a section a day and contemplate and pray about it. Pray that God speaks to you through these verses and that we as a body grow stronger through our diligence with studying and application of His word, along with brokenness and humility in our prayer lives. The Holy Spirit is the one that will do all the real work, we just have to allow it and not be our own worst enemies.

Also, it doesn't matter when you decide to start. It could be today it could be in a month. I don't know when you will start and who am I to dictate such a thing, I only implore you, as your brother in Christ, to simply make the time and effort to do it. Feel free to reply or post your own reflections, revelations, testimonies or prayers on here. Keep seeking Christ and read your bible! God bless you all!

I'm sorry, but after reading those passages, I couldn't find your thread when I came back. lol
But this was suggested in relation to your entry, if I may add to it:

Quote:
Recalculating

June 25, 2011

Our Daily Bread is hosted by Les Lamborn
READ: 2 Timothy 3:10-17

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. —2 Timothy 3:16

On a road trip with a friend, we used his GPS navigation device to guide us as we drove each day. After entering our destination on the screen, a voice told us which road to follow, as well as when and where to make each turn. When we left the route, whether accidentally or deliberately, the voice would say, “Recalculating.” Then it would tell us how to get back on the right road.

Second Timothy 3:16 describes the Bible as a spiritual navigation system for our journey through life. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” Doctrine tells us which road to travel; reproof tells us when we are off the road; correction tells us how to get back on; instruction in righteousness tells us how to stay on God’s road.

The mistakes and choices that detour us from the Lord are not to be taken lightly. But failure is seldom fatal and few decisions are final. The moment we veer off on our own, the Holy Spirit is “recalculating” and urging us to return to the Father’s way.

If we’ve drifted off course, there’s no better time than right now to heed God’s voice and return to His road. —David McCasland

We need God’s guidance from above,
His daily leading and His love;
As we trust Him for direction,
To our course He’ll give correction. —Fitzhugh

To stay on course, trust the compass of God’s Word.

Thank you,
TCD
