Just wondered whether anyone actually has a familiar? I mean, I'm sure most people have "pets" (that's a whole other issue for another time), but does anyone feel a psychic/spiritual/magickal bond with any of them?
They say that a familiar finds you, not the other way round, but who can quote scripture as law these days? I have two cats now, and each of them...as most cats do, adopt you, not the other way around. But I don't have a bond with either of them that could be called spiritual.
I'm sure we'd all love the idea of having a Raven or Cat that would take messages, go spying or just make us feel better after a lengthly talk, but has anyone really got it?
((P.S. this in no way is meant to dennounce the possible bonds you have with your animals, whatever they be...just curious as to whether anyone has experienced it is all.))

I have a familiar. He's a dragon and he's around about 3/4 of the time. The other times he's not around. But lately he's been around more often. I guess this is because I'm going through a rough time right now. I don't even know his real name he just told me to call him Wise Dragon. In fact right now he's sitting on my head reading over my shoulder yet again for the 2nd time since I've been on this computer.

Ahem. Anyways, I too have a familiar. It's a her horse. >.< Her name's Chestnut, or so I've come to call her. Is that normal, naming your own familiar? I thought they came with names or something. She said 'Chestnut' was fine, at any rate.
Anyhoo, she's big, and beautiful, and chestnut colored. Yes. ^^ I only see her in my lucid dreams, but I feel her around all the time, mostly only in places where she'll fit. -.- Like outside. When I was in my civics class one day, I felt a presence behind me, but whenever I turned around to look, nothing was there. I just assumed that it was Chestnut. But then I realized that she couldn't fit, because I was in the corner of the room, backed up against the classroom wall.
Then I found that a wolf was following me around. I narrowed it down to a wolf because it felt to big to be a dog, and it had wolf-like qualities that I've never seen my two dogs do. Other than shake themselves off, that is.
Like one time, I woke up in the middle of the night and my dog was sleeping on my bed [As usual.] but he was near my face. The other dog sleeps with my parents. Then I heard a sound like when a dog shakes himself off, near the foot of my bed. Another time I felt nose pokes on my feet and legs, and my dogs were downstairs. And horses don't do that. There are other things too, but right now I gotta go and finish my homework.
Plus, I'm babbling. xD

i wouldn't say i had a psychic bond with either of my cats. if i did, i'd be more likely to have a psychic bond with tiger. when he was a kitten, he used to follow me halfway to school, he still does sometimes actually. and then there's the stare he gives you. he'll be led there, doing nothing, and for no apparent reason he'll start staring at you. if you get up out of your seat and do something else, he'll still stare at you... he's a very scary cat sometimes. others he's just a complete nutcase. very loveable, anyway. so's rosie.

I don't really have a familiar, but again, I'll mention the raven. xD There's a raven I see around everywhere with a messed up with, and it isn't afraid of people. I think people feed it, and I'm not sure if it can fly or not. But it follows me around in the mornings I walk to school looking for food.

I didn't know people had Ethereal Familiars!
I was more thinking Corporeal (solid, physical etc.) when I started the thread but that's interesting...didn't even cross my mind.
So how did you guys get the spirit-animals then? I'm curious to find out...So tell me!

Anyway, I found Chestnut by just meditating on it. A girl I know always comes to her familiar by popping her head out from water. And it's the same way she leaves. Instead of typing it up all over again, I'm going to copy/paste how I found Chestnut.
I climb a small ladder and open a trap door above me. It opens into the most beautiful forest I've ever seen. I climb out, close the door, and replace the tuft of grass that I've disturbed overtop it. I reach a cave entrance, where there's a low-rising apple tree. I pick off an aple, shining it on my shirt as I walk through the entrance. Magically, it seems, the cave changes into a lush forest again, a winding path lining the ground. I follow it until I reach a small clearing, circled by trees. In the middle is a small pond and a rock big enough to sit on. I call for Chestnut. Sometimes, she comes right away, other times I have to wait. When she comes, I give her the apple, and we talk.
And that's how I found her! <3 I had to meditate there for a loooong time before she finally came. It was hard, because I was afraid my will for her to come was forcing images in my head.

Wise Dragon found me when I had just turned 13. I was living in San Diego with my father for the summer and we had just found out my dad was being transfered to Siera Vista, AZ. I think he came because he had been watching over me and sensed that I would need him around.

Tenaku I still ahevm't managed to enter a meditative trance yet crying but my dad just gave me a copy of this deep breathing relxation exercise CD and I think it might help ^^ Wish me luck much luck wished! ^^ i have a similar cd, but i can't listen to it when i meditate, it puts me off xp
