Verin is gruff and she kinda sucks but she is here. She can be that unpleasant person you run into who makes your day crappy and you vent about to your friend when you come home or maybe she can actually help you out. Either way she's a prickly little pear and things'll be weird. What can we do with her?
Unlikely friendships
Verin is thorny, to be sure. :'V But she is not the kind of super loner with the heart of stone she thinks she is, and she needs some unlikely friends! Having to actually care about/for someone other than herself will change her, and if she's doing her job it should change someone else... uh... for the better, we hope.
Honestly the best way to start a friendship with Verin, at this point, is to get into an argument with her. :'V When she's softened up this will be easier lol. But Verin tends to like people who are just as pushy and assertive as she is. Butting heads and arguing is probably kind of fun for her lol, and she respects people who aren't going to let someone walk all over them. Though she'll also kind of want to help people who do. Not in any huge capacity, you can't save everyone, but she'll nag her meek friends and tell them to speak up for themselves. So there's also that. It's kind of the beginnings of her longer running character development.
Character development (who would have thought lol)
Verin is unpleasant and selfish and unconcerned with most of the world around her. Her mindset is very narrow and self-focused. She only acts when she sees something that's pissing her off, basically. Even with character development she's never going to lose her sourness and selfishness completely, but I'd like to see her transform into someone who's more aware of her role in the wider scope of things. Right now she does stuff for other people to prove a point or get back at someone else, but in the future she'll do things to... you know, actually help people for the sake of helping people. Right now she gets annoyed when she sees people being taken advantage of or not standing up for themselves, so that'll probably become the thing she ends up White Knighting around for lol.

Just for fun, let's drag Verin around on a horrible day out with someone far more enthused than she is.

I can nominate Talulah for the hijinks. She’s very good at that sort of thing. Though her endless clinging enthusiasm might break Verin.

Talulah is going to have to stomach a few snappy remarks since Verin will be all grumpy and s**t.

It would be like water off a ducks back. Talulah will just pretend she didn't hear a thing. Or be all 'haha, don't be silly OH LOOK LET'S GO TALK TO MY FRIEND MR. COOPER! 8DDDD'
