Hey ho folks. Rather than mess up the word game, here is a thread for discussing Magic the gathering.
I used to play all the time, my fav decks being green and black. At one point I had a few angel of destruction cards, though, so I built a white/black deck so I could destroy all my opponent's lands without destroying any of mine. WINNAR.
Then I downloaded the ps3 game trial, and it's actually pretty cool >.> I mean, I don't need to worry about buying actual cards, and so on. For a computer game made from a card game, I quite like it. I don't think I'd buy it, but y'know. If it was free I would totally play it.

Sorry about that Sang sweatdrop
I tried to do a White/Red deck around Ajani Vengeant but it didn't quite work out. I'd say my best deck is my White Myr deck followed by my White Cat/Kor equipt built around Kemba. I also have a Black Vampire deck and that White/Red deck that came out for New Phyrexia. And I'm borrowing my friend's Heavenly Inferno commander deck. He added White Akroma to it and I added Reya, Razia, and Luminous Angel to it. I haven't tested it since I added my three angels to it and probably won't until Saturday.

Annette and everyone else is playing in the next room over- I never got into the game, but I collected the cards for the art work. Annette was given 3 of the new Command sets as a present.
My favorite card? Earth bind.

I love the artwork too. I enjoy playing, but I'm not massively into it. I haven't played with my actual cards in years. (Plus, too expensive.)
I also love some of the quotes (particularly in red cards; they always have hilarious quotes.)
I think one of the favourite cards I actually own is Visara the Dreadful. I love the aesthetic of the black decks generally.

I agree with the comment on the artwork. Though I would have to say my favorite art has to be the Myr. Especially Myr Superion.
Flavor text is good too. Sometimes last fall when I was playing my vampire deck I would post flavor text from some of the cards on my Facebook.

Me and my boyfriend just got done playing. I enjoy it but it's something I only get in the mood for every so often. I have a white, green cat deck and a green elf deck. =]

I started playing Magic just after Beta, and quit with the Ice Ages expansion. It's fun, but I haven't so much as looked at the cards in over ten years. I did like the PC game version, though.

I really only collect them for the artwork, but I do have a loose grip of the rules so I'll probably be putting together a deck sometime in the future (though I probably have enough cards for three decks xp ). I adore green cards, probably because the first card I stumbled upon was Guardian of Vitu-Ghazi (still my favourite!) and I gerarally just likke the green artwork more, though having said that, white has gorgeous artwork too.

I've got a red and a red/green deck. I don't play much. It's just gotten expensive and I'd rather spend my gaming money on Hordes. I still loose a lot, but I have a ton of fun putting together and painting the models.

my first deck is a Blue/White which I just recently made amazing. My fav deck is my pure Green Elf Counter deck. It plays like a beast. Been playing for what must be 5 years now...maybe a few more, I forget when really.

I don't really play myself but my boyfriend is addicted to the stuff. There are cards all over our place and some of the art really is very cool. I've picked up the basics just from living with him but I don't really have any of my own decks and I don't have a favorite card.
I know he has a much despised card though. He hates Jace the Mindscupltor. Not for the art but for itself and what people did with it. When the card was banned from standard play recently, he might as well have been dancing around the house singing "Ding Dong The Witch is Dead."

That card and the deck it was in made Standard completely not fun for anyone unless they played that deck. I play pretty avidly online. Mostly just playtesting with friends. I really enjoy the game for the lore and the backstory. Plus the five colors of magic and what they are related to and such always made sense to me. It has a certain appeal to me. I dont play much cuz I dont have much money and its starting to bore. Swordfighting is so much more fun. XD

A friend of mind ended up getting his hands on two of them. Luckily for us he only used the 0 cost ability. I would too when I borrowed that deck. But for some reason whenever I get out a planeswalker everyone always goes after my planeswalkers but never anyone else's.
