~The Recipe Exchange~

This thread will basically serve as a place to swap recipes with other users, be they family recipes, something you snagged out of a magazine, found online or one of your own creations c:

I for one, LOVE trying out new recipes and would be more than happy to share ones I've tried out and really liked.

Any recipe goes, be it entree, dessert, side dish, snack, etc
Everything is fair game!

So, post those recipes and let's get cooking! ;D

Patriotic Pie~

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

1 1/2 cups boiling water, divided
1 pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O Brand Berry Blue Flavor Gelatin
1 cup ice cubes, divided
1 (6 ounce) HONEY MAID Graham Pie Crust
1 pkg. (4 serving size) JELL-O Brand Strawberry Flavor Gelatin, or any red flavor
1 cup thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

(ignore the brand names - I'm obviously pulling this from somewhere else. I personally am going to be a generic gal for this lol -savings ftw?)

Directions

Stir 3/4 cup of the boiling water into dry blue gelatin at least 2 minutes or until completely dissolved. Add 1/2 cup of the ice cubes; stir until ice is completely melted. Pour into pie crust; refrigerate 5 to 10 minutes or until gelatin is set but not firm.
Meanwhile, stir remaining 3/4 cup boiling water into dry red gelatin in separate bowl at least 2 minutes or until completely dissolved. Add remaining 1/2 cup ice cubes; stir until ice is completely melted. Let stand at room temperature 5 minutes or until slightly thickened.
Spread whipped topping evenly over blue gelatin layer in crust; cover with layer of red gelatin. Refrigerate 2 hours or until set. Store leftover pie in refrigerator.
Garnish with whipped topping and fresh fruit (optional)

I personally am going to be trying this out in a day or so.
My family can't make up their minds if they want to try it or not xD
My sister is vegetarian so she's automatically declining because of the gelatin but other than that, people seem game c:

Faux Tamago ;D

I'll have this as a snack, breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It works for anything.
It's based on the Japanese rolled omelet but I found rolling them to be far too much of a hassle so I just scramble the same recipe. I'll describe the rolling process in the bottom of the post

2-3 eggs
1 tablespoon of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of soy sauce

Beat together the ingredients until it's smooth and well blended (keep in mind you want the sugar at least somewhat dissolved)
Prepare the same as you would scrambled eggs. I know in my family we all vary on how we scramble so scramble as you're comfortable- be it with cooking spray, cooking oil, butter, or whatever floats your boat

It's sort of a sweet and salty/savory flavour at the same time? c:
I usually have mine over rice or plain and sometimes I throw in some steamed vegetables.

FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN ROLLING IT
you basically make sure your pan has a thin coating of oil so things don't stick (square pans work best for this but round ones work as well and are much more easily accessible) and pour a thin layer of the egg down. I mean THIN. Wait until it's cooked and roll it up in the pan and have the roll off to the side in the pan while you pour down another thin layer. Once that layer has cooked, roll it onto the roll you already have going. Make sure that if your pan starts getting dry (things start sticking) you brush the bottom of the pan with oil again. I usually have to do the brushing just about every layer e.o
Repeat until all your egg mixture has been used

When you remove it from the pan you should have a big log looking thing xD
Put it onto a plate and cut into about 1/4"-1/2" thick slices.
The slices will have nice little rings on them and look pretty.
Same taste, just a lot more work to make it look nicer xD
