nyan cat is well on its way to YTMND land if Gaia's doing a bad parody of it with this "Double Rainbow" premium item.
The Zen Master says, "R.I.P. nyan cat. Your mind-numbing colors and lyrics were just too advanced for this world to handle.[/slight sarcasm]"

You talk like you're on the bleeding edge of "internet culture," here. Not that there is one.

Well no, not really. You're acting all proprietary about something you had no hand in creating. Something which, by its nature, was produced collaboratively and released freely, for anyone to do with as they well. Unless you're one of the three people responsible for making the gif, the song and the video, kindly shut the ******** up.

He's upset that Gaia is jumping on something that is an internet storm to turn a profit. Gaia gets away with it by adjusting the look of things ever so slightly so they can't be called out on ripping creative thought.

Meh. I'll cry when it's a meme that was actually enjoyable/exploitable. Or keyboard cat.

If one of the three people who have that right want to complain, that is their prerogative. If, that is, what we're seeing isn't a result of their decision to license it to make money.

Its doubtful that they did license it to Gaia for use since they've adjusted the outlook of the items. Such as that animation near our avatars of a dog running with a poptart in his mouth. Everyone has a right to be upset about copyright material - often times it takes an individual not associated with a piece of artwork to uncover copyright infringements so a lawsuit can be started.

No, everyone has a right to notify the copyright holder in case the copyright holder would be interested to know. Hardly anybody has a right to decide in what ways such a work can and can't be used. That is a right which belongs, by definition, to the owner of a copyright, trademark or patent. Should they choose to exercise it.
That is what we are speaking of, and it is nonsensical to behave as if you own something just because you've seen it on the goddamn internet.

Why do you care what gaia does with new items anyways, METALFumasu, it's not like you are forced to buy one or anything.

Joy was a lovely girl, but then they killed her with diabolical precision. Marching onto the thread with indignation and determination of Brutus-esque fame.

Omnileech Why do you care what gaia does with new items anyways, METALFumasu, it's not like you are forced to buy one or anything. This is true. However, I find this item a bit... unimaginative on the part of Gaia's art staff and whoever comes up with these premium items. Although given the items they've released in the past, I shouldn't really be surprised by this sort of thing. *shrug* Am I upset? Not really. More like annoyed by how far the level of originality in Gaia's items has dropped. Whatever, it's just pixels in cyberspace anyway...
