The Feeling Is Gone

PostPosted: Sun Jul 10, 2011 1:54 pm

You, a soldier, are about to embark upon the journey of the century. Or the decade if time moves fast for you. As a gesture of... ahem good will,
the Hong Empire has graciously offered to host one of their most celebrated festivals on neutral ground between the two kingdoms!

Of course, with people from all affiliations coming in from the for corners of the continent, security is sure to be a nightmare. For this reason, all
three powers have been requested by the neutral territory to lend some soldiers to provide adequate security. As one of the soldiers being sent to
make sure everyone has a good time (including yourself), how are you going to carry out your duty?

A. Man the entrance! Stop those trouble makers before they can make it through!

B. Disguise yourself as one of the attendees. People let their guard down when they know no one's watching.

C. Crowd control. Help attendees go to where they need to be and answer questions!

D. Stand by. Uhm. . .Stand around and wait for emergencies to happen?

Ah, one of the more hectic jobs. You are simply stationed at a specific spot on the festival grounds and flocks of people with questions and issues to be resolved simply gravitate towards you. You are frantically answering questions until you feel a tug on your sleeve. Looking down, you see a sobbing child. “Can you find my mom? I can't find her!” she cries hysterically. You heft the child up and tell her you'll do everything you can to find her mom. But...in a festival filled with more than a thousand people, how are you going to do that?

A. Stick her on your soldiers and have her hold a sign that says “Lost Child!”

B. Walk her to the security tent.

C. Leave your post to go looking for her mother.

Of... course. <<;;;

As soon as the sign is lifted, hysterical mothers from all corners and crevices seem to come out. They cry and try to reach for the girl on your shoulders. All the while, you're asking her if any of the distraught women is her mother. No. No. Nope. No! No. That mother doesn't even look like her! Definitely not. The process is too hectic and it starts look suspicious with so many women crowded around you crying. People begin to talk and soldiers come to investigate. One look at you and the mothers and they promptly turn around to run the other way. The child ends up being so sad that she gets off your shoulders and runs home. WHAT. She didn't need you after all! And to boot, you're being investigated for mistreatment of civilians! Great. Try again?

Holding her hand, you leave your post to take her to the tent where there are more soldiers able to help out. You arrive only to see the tent crowded inside and the area around it with drunk men, adolescents and old men being berated by soldiers. There also seem to be a group of children playing around to the side with some soldiers watching them. The girl spies them and with wide eyes, “They don't have their parents either! Are they orphans? Are you taking me to the orphanage? No! I won't let you! I ALREADY HAVE A HOOOOME” She wrestles her hand away, kicks you in the shin and runs home. WHAT. She didn't need you after all! And to boot, you're being scolded for leaving your post! Great. Try again?

Why, yes it does! :'D

Without another word, you leave your post to go wandering through the festival calling her mother's name. But no such luck. The child seems to grow more desolate with each step you take. Her eyes start tearing up and you don't know how to stop her before she brings on the waterworks. What do you do?
A. Buy her some food to occupy her.

B. Take her to see a puppet show.

C. Take her to a game stall.
