Dandelion was out prowling the streets of Summerwood. Summer and Midnight were flying near her as she walked. She was in a better mood than she had been. Mostly due to no one trying to bother her. It was either the aura about her or the butterfly and crow that followed her but whatever it was it kept the other dogs from approaching.
She finally paused as she looked at the dog park. Her face darkened as she watched all of the dogs playing happily with each other and their owners. She quickly turned away and walked in the opposite direction. She kept walking until she came to an abandoned park. The grass was long and the things that the humans played on were rusty. Even the benches were falling apart. Who would have thought that such a place existed in Summerwood.

Valen lay under a rusty, rickety slide. The pea gravel was nice and cool against his belly. The sun above was baking the pavement, the grass, the cracked dirt without discretion. It would have been doing the same thing to his coat. Soon, though, the sun would set and Valen would have his run of the place. During the day was his quiet time. At night though, the city was his.
He perked his ears up, thinking that he heard doggy paws padding nearer to him. Perhaps some subordinate, trying to find him, trying to tell him some useless information. He rolled his eyes. Most other street dogs were just too high strung. That's why they couldn't cut it out here.
Although his young puppyhood hadn't been spent on the streets, Valen though he'd done quite well for himself. He was certainly ... respected ... for lack of a better term.
Snapping out of thought, the listened harder. Yes, doubtlessly there was another dog about. He stood, slowly, stretching. Stepping out from beneath his shady spot he spotted a dark pelted dog wandering through the dry grass, seemingly lost in thought.
He let out a warning bark. Looking the dog over quickly, he assumed the slight thing wasn't much of a threat. But hmm ... she was easy on the eyes, that was for sure.
He barked again, louder, a more dominating sound. He wanted her to have to make the first move, to see what sort of material she was made of. He waited.

Dandelion was about to step further into the park when she heard a bark. It sounded like a warning causing her to look around. Finally spotting the collared and mohawked dane, she narrowed her eyes. At his second bark she began to growl. She didn't like to be warned off a perfectly public place. It certainly wasn't his. Her usual somber mood was quickly washed away to be replaced by her snippy almost mean mood.
Her tail went up and her head as well. She took a few steps further into the park and paused. She then let out a vicious sounding bark warning him not to mess with her. It was then that Summer the butterfly landed on her head by her left ear. Midnight the crow, however, was bee-lining it for Valen. Clearly it was a bother to Dandelion and Midnight didn't allow anyone who bothered her to escape.
