He was Katsumi's first assistant, andhe had a crush on her. In his mission to keep his oath, to protect her and the village at all cost, he went to the hidden Rain village and confronted, his new body, Kiyuki Uchiha. Faking his death, he was then murdered by three of the seven swordsmen of the mist. In deep remorse of his thoughts of him killing his Cousin's friend, Kiyuki had the Rinnegan implanted into him. So Rie's body is now used as the sage path for Kiyuki's Rinnegan.
