I'm in the process of having my frist batch ever of Endler Fry! I put momma in the breeders net yesterday, and put in some floating plants. I didnt expect her to drop so soon after being put in there, as being moved stresses them out, and they can hold the fry in longer.

But I when I got up this morning and checked on the fishies, there were three little fry in the net, and momma Endler still looks really fat. Not sure how many she'll drop, but I dont really care. I'm just glad to have fry. I miss breeding Guppies lol

So excited! Pics to come when they get big enough (or theres enough in the net to get pics of lol) blaugh

THE INTERNET LIES!!! Every one says Endlers dont eat their fry, but momma Endler ate 4 of the 5 fry gonk I took her out, of the breeders net, and put her back into the main tank. Brat...

The remaining fry is big enough for pics, though! He (she/it?) is so cute! I've been feeding him powdered Hikari Fancy Guppy pellets. I used this before with a mystery fry that hitch hiked in some plants I brought home from the LFS, and in just under a week, he was big enough to eat the pellets whole. This stuff grows 'em fast!

That's the problem with livebearers- they give birth and are like, "Hey, food!".
They're definitely not the best parents of the fish world. >_<

Endlers arent supposed to eat their fry, thats why I'm so mad lol If she were a Guppy, I would have expected it XD

A lot of fish that are considered good parents usually eat their fry the first couple of times they breed. They eventually learn. Though I agree, it's very heartbreaking to have babies one minute and a full momma belly the next >.<
