In a very quiet week, Beyonce "4" continues to reign at No. 1 for a second week, selling 115,000 (down 63%). (oh the mightest have fallen)! Aslo Adele's "21" stays put at No. 2 (79,000; down 13%) It seems that the Adele money machine is losing steam, which does not bode well for the music biz.!

The The highest debut on the albums chart is R&B singer Lloyd at No. 10 with "King of Hearts," as it moves 26,000 in its opening week. Which does bode well for the music Industry that 26K gets you a top 10 debut!

Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending July 10) totaled 5.34 million units, down 16% compared to the sum last week (6.34 million) and up 2% compared to the comparable sales week of 2010 (5.24 million). Year to date album sales stand at 160.81 million, up 1% compared to the same total at this point last year (159.20 million). It is the seventh week in a row where year-to-date album volume is greater than the same time in the prior year.

It does not bode well for the music biz when nothing comes out and down 16% compared to the sum last week (a million copies). It aslo doesn't bode well that with all the summer blockbuster albums, it is only up 1% compared to the same total at this point last year. Mark my words, soon as the fall comes, the sales numbers will fall like the autum leaves!
