I usually review the latest music CD's here but today is different. I'm going to review a music book. This is one is Keith Richards' autobiography. Let me say, once i got into this book, it was hard to put it down. For a 500+ page book, i read it in a week and a half. I enjoy Kieth Richards' honest in this book, beacuse you actually can fell like a fly on a wall when all of his stories happen! And for a guy who did more drugs then the Grateful dead put together, his deatails are very sharp and vivid. I like in his book that it is like a direct stream of conscious. Meaning th story flows with not strict order but has a purpose. What i didn't like that some of his story seem to a meaning and discirbing the music and guitar playing, gets way to technical!
There are several things i got out of theis book. One is how very complex the Rolling Stones are and how compelex making songs and albums can be. It gives a real flavor of arua of the rolling stones at each ear and what is like to record all those classic albums (epeciallly Exile of Main Street), without being too draggy. Second is how very real they are. The Rolling Stones are not like God like. This book cuts down the visage and we are made too see that they are indeed humans, flawed and full of mistakes. Third is that this is a great anti-drug book. If you don't wnat somebody to talk drugs just let them read this book. Fourth is that Mick Jagger is jerk, a huge jerk, but that one I already new. Finally, it makes you realize that for all the headlines, myths, and stoies Keith is really a down to earth nice guy.
If you a true rock and roll fan you will enjoy this book.
I give it 8.5/10!
