So I have ligyrophobia, which is basically an intense and extremely irrational fear of loud noises. Rammstein is my absolute favourite band and I saw them on May 8th at Toronto, obviously knowing that Rammstein would have a ton of pyrotechnics. I absolutely loved the show and was thankful that I actually got to see them, but I nearly had a heart attack after every explosion. It was so bad that I actually began crying to myself, which I know sounds very whiny but that's essentially how the fear is. I pretty much vowed that I would never put myself in a situation like that again. Anyways, upon hearing the announcement of their tour in 2011/2012, I figured since they are getting older and its their greatest hits tour it would probably be one of the best and last times to see them. What I'm basically asking is if I should see them this one last time despite this phobia, and if anyone else also experiences this fear. Any form of advice or such is greatly appreciated. eek

I say go to the concert, but wear earplugs under earmuffs. That should buffer the loud noises enough.

I would also say you should go. I too have a phobia that would suggest I do not go to concerts (whatever the fear of crowds is), and yes, I have been in near-panic attack mode during concerts, but that has not stopped me from going to them. We can chill together and be the two about to have a nervous breakdown throughout the entire show.

Katze Allemon-Schatten I would also say you should go.
