Update time! The shrimp are doing very well- two batches of baby shrimp have hatched and two of my females are carrying eggs. The babies are growing incredibly quickly, the first batched hatched about two weeks ago and they are already about a fourth of their parents' size. They are starting to show a little bit of color, too. I have been feeding them algae wafers, Sera Vipachips and Fluval Shrimp Granules, and supplementing water changes with Fluval Shrimp Mineral Supplements. Have some pictures: The new rock-based layout, based on Takashi Amano's iwagumi rockwork. I took this picture a few weeks ago, so the moss had grown out a bit since then. Some pictures of the shrimp: Dinner. There is a baby just to the left of the algae wafer. heart

I've never done shrimp before. :3 But that looks really awesome! It'll be a really pretty tank. I can't wait to see update pictures. How hard is it to keep a shrimp colony?

Sweet! Can't wait to hear of your progress. I'm planning a moss wall for my tank as well once we're both working again and secure financially.

XD Right now I have four Cherry shrimp in my three gallon, one male and three females. They've had eggs several times, but the endlers make it impossible to raise the babies. They're going to be the first shrimp in the tank after it's cycled. heart

Cherry shrimp are VERY easy to keep and breed, but some other species can be pretty sensitive, like most of the Sulawesi shrimp.

I talked to my boss tonight, and hopefully he might be able to get me some Tiger shrimp (Caridina cantonensis) for the tank.

Some species of shrimp within the same genus will interbreed easily, so they can't be kept together. Also, water chemistry requirements vary a lot between species. So basically you can keep two types of shrimp together if they won't interbreed and do well in the same water conditions.

I just bought all of my moss. Java for the back wall and willow moss for the driftwood.
