Has anyone seen Terrence Malick's new film The New World? It is with Collin Farrel and Christen Bale and the new girl (sorry I can't remember your name!) who was 14 when they filmed the movie. It is really good!

Yeah, I hated the voiceover because it reminded me so much of The Last Temptation of Christ, which I had seen earlier that day. I also don't like Colin Farrell, even though he was pretty good in the movie. Q'orianka Kilcher is SO pretty when she smiles. Did you know she was related to the singer Jewel? Also, Christopher Plummer is in it, the guy from The Sound of Music. I liked the nature montage at the end, and the last shot of the montage, where the leaf falls from the tree. Then while the credits roll, you just hear the sound of the forest. It's like a metaphor, I guess. I think that montage was very Disney-esque.

Well, I have not have the life changing experience of seeing The Last Temptation of Christ yet but I will say that at parts the voiceover annoyed me. I wished they would just open their mouths and say something but I realized that I was thinking that only because I wasn't used to this different form of art. And I too am not a fan of Colin Farrell, I much rather prefer Colin Firth, but he did do really good in this role I think. I agree with you, her smile was gorgeous! And I didn't know she was Jewel's cousin! Woah! My husband just turned to me and was like, you didn't know that? No Mr. Gossip King I didn't know! lol, pun intended. Oh yes, I am a big fan of Christopher Plummer and was shocked to hear that he was doing another movie, to be quite honest I thought he was dead. Yes, I am ashamed. And I think something that I really loved about the movie was how quiet it was, just the pure sound of untouched wilderness, it was so raw and new like it was! The credits were cool, it was one of those for me where I didn't realize the movie was over, I was so deeply into and intertwined with the movie that when it ended it took me a minute to recover. It was so good! This of course was also my first Terrence Malick film, and I wasn't quite sure what to expect and let me just say that I was not disappointed. I would take it as a metaphor too. But something else that I wanted to say is that I really connected to it because it reminded me of my home, where I grew up. I grew up in a very untouched valley in Northern California and I grew up on a 200 acre farm. It was so isolated there. Just the sounds of nature, it was so nice to hear them again that I felt like I was transported back in time to my childhood. This movie truly moved me and changed me. Needless to say, I loved it.

Wow, you're response is pretty long. I'm going to reply to it but I've had the menu to Brazil running for a while since I was doing my Oscar nomination choices.

Lol, that's cool. I need to finish that movie. I was watching Brazil, that movie, a week ago or so but didn't finish it because it is so much like today that it scared me and I had to go to bed anyways. But I will try to watch it again and I await your response. I am eager to read it.

I really enjoyed this movie and the voice over parts. I don't know, there's something about inner thought that grips me. Anyway, I thought it was a very good character story. The music was very nice, as well. It might have to be added to my collection of soundtracks.

As for performances, I think all the actors did very well, even Collin Farrel, surprise surprise. Although, I did end up hating him towards the end of it, but I think you're supposed to. All and all, good film, I hope to buy it the next time I get money.

Great points! The voicing over was done really well. And I was quite surprised of Collin Farrell's ability to play the role, and play it well. I like Collin Farrell but always insist that he prove himself somewhere along the way cuz he has the ability to do a lot of crap too.

I feel like a lot of people can't help but love Terence Malick because he only does movies like once every 10-20 years so they might be blind to any faults.
